Re: Ladakh Planner 2016
The bike would be able to take it. Just that you will have to do some Jugaad with the copper wire in the carb to tune the fuel mix.Originally posted by Vijay Thakur View Post

Re: Ladakh Planner 2016
Thanks Mik once again.Originally posted by Mik View PostOk.
Diskit to Pangong via Leh is going to be very hectic. No point of rushing through a beautiful part of the journey.
Pangong to Nyoma? Go till Hanle.
Nyoma to Sarchu ->Very hectic and pointless again to rush it. Probably till Pang.
Sarchu to Kullu -> Won't be easy so start as early as possible. Since you are only travelling till Chandigarh, even Manali is fine.
Ok, here is an alternate plan for you which will help you cover much more stuff.
After Diskit go till Shakti/Saakthi (a quiet little village with limited stay options at the base of Chang La) or come back to Leh. Leh is a fun place in June with an amazing biker vibe so it will all be good. You could probably visit one of the monasteries too.
Next day, make it to Man/Merak on the Pangong.
Pangong - Hanle
Hanle -Tso Moriri
Tso Moriri - Pang/Sarchu
and so on..
Yes, permits will be needed for Hanle and Tso Moriri.
Don't worry about buffer days. Just have all the info with you and pitch wherever you feel is paradise :-) Don't have a 'target' to reach everyday.
I am thinking to go with a rough route plan now instead of sticking to a schedule, Well thats what is the fun of riding in Himalayas. Will taking enough precautions and backups so that i dont end up stranded in middle of nowhere. Finally have decided to go in first week of August will be transporting bike from Bangalore to Chandigarh and will fly to Chandigarh the day bike is supposed to reach. After then....Let the roads show the destinations

Sorry, if I have put this in wrong thread. I will start my own with due approval. Fellas, waiting for your comments. I will be leaving from Pune. So anyone interested can join us . We are two right now.

August is an awesome time to go! Less traffic, more treacherous routes sometimes due to the slush and rain. I have had 4 rides but the first ride in August was so special. Nothing like it.
Also, do rain test your setup before going. You might end up spending hours in the rain. So ensure that there are no soggy socks. Though drying them on a hot silencer is totally worth it

Re: Ladakh Planner 2016
He is trying to say that when you go on high altitudes air gets thinner and so your engine takes in less air but more petrol resulting into incomplete combustion. So need to tweak carb for that. I have read somewhere that turning petrol knob towards off side little bit helps to resolve it. But you need to find that sweet spot for knob. I am no genius just few words as I understand in this matter.
