Need help on Hyderabad to Vishakhapatnam Road
Hi Guys,
Planning a trip from Hyd to BBSR tomorrow morning on my R15.
Any suggestion on the route?
I have planned on two routes..
1. Hyd > Suryapet > Khammam > Rajahmundry > Continue on NH5
2.Hyd > Vijaywada > Continue on NH5
I am a bit inclined towards the Vijaywada route but the last time I travelled on this road 6 months back, the road was under construction and had a lot of trouble because of the lorries.
If I take the 1st route, is the bridge(Rjy-Kovvur Road cum Railway bridge) open near Rajahmundry? The last time I travelled, it was closed.---------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi! Can anyone guide me for the road conditions of Kerala, Tamilnadu, Karnataka?
Am doing a trip to Kannur, Kochi, Allepey, Coimbatore on 23rd dec from Mysore.
Will be doing Mysore to Kannur early morning at 4am via Virajpet. So is the road open now? (Heard it was closed some days back)
Next day going for Kozhikode, Kochi, Allepey. Any update on the road conditions there?
Returning back to Mysore via Coimbatore. Planning to do a night ride (leave Kochi by 8pm). What about the road in that stretch and is it doable at night?
Coimbatore to Mysore was done already, roads are pretty good!
Here's the google maps link for my proposed trip.

Mysore - Gonikoppal - Hunsur should be fine; KL borders are bad though;Originally posted by vickks View PostAm doing a trip to Kannur, Kochi, Allepey, Coimbatore on 23rd dec from Mysore
Kannur-Kozhikode & a little beyond is excellent; after that it OK till KochiOriginally posted by vickks View PostNext day going for Kozhikode, Kochi, Allepey. Any update on the road conditions there?
Avoid; Kochi upto Chalakudy is good or near to good; but all the Vadkkanchery & other things...I'm not confident; avoid these two laned roads; Once you enter into TN roads, it will be pretty much evident on the roads itself.Originally posted by vickks View PostWhat about the road in that stretch and is it doable at night?Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

The road from Khammam to Rajahmundy isn't too good. Was laid around 5 yrs ago and has managed to get a constant string of potholes. However, it shouldn't be too diffcult.Originally posted by Bluefox View PostHi Guys,

Update as on 05/01/2012
Bangalore-Mysore-Ooty: Good roads throughout.
Ooty-Metupalayam-Coimbatore: Good Roads till Metupalayam, after that the road is ripped apart at many places.
Coimbatore-Pollachi-Valparai: Good single lanes throughout. The ghats are in good shape.Expect a bus coming down the hill with pin drop silence on any corner
Valparai-Athirapally: Creepy roads for the next 60 kms or so have your bike in the best possible condition. Even potable water is a scarcity.
Athirapally-Chalakudy: "Superb" is an understatement. Fantastic twisties
Chalakudy to Thrissur: four lane highway, road quality unquestionable.
Thrissur to Thamarasherry: Good Single lanes though out passing through towns at regular intervals. Traffic is total Chaos. People ride/drive at their whims and fancies.
Thamarasherry to Sultan Bathery: The ghats are getting a face lift. For the part of ghat completed ,its just fantastic.the rest of the section should be completed in a month or Max two i guess
Sulthan Bathery- GUndlupet-Bangalore: Nice mixture of Single lanes and four lanes

Bangalore/Kannur update as on 30/12/2011
Bangalore /Mysore- Good (too many speed-breakers a spoilsport)
Mysore/Hunsur/Peryapatna/Kushalnagar - Good (really enjoyable ride)
Kushalnagar/Siddapura/Virajpet - Very Patchy but scenic
Virajpet/Iritty - The beginning and the end are quite bad but the forest road descend with curves are a bikers delight.
Iritty/Mattannur - Bad
Mattannur/Kannur - Lovely two lane road, but watch out for the crazy private bus drivers.
Ride Safe !

Hi guys, I am planning a trip from Bangalore to Ooty shortly. I have 3 route options. Can you please provide any insight you have on current road conditions and other recommendations?
1. Bangalore - Channapatna - Mandya - Mysore - Nanajangud - Bandipur - Ooty
2. Banagalore - Kanakpura - Malavalli - Chamrajnagar - Bandipur - Ooty
3. Banagalore - Kanakpura - Malavalli - Chamrajnagar - Sathyamangalam - Metupalyam - Ooty
I think phanikar's update as of 5/1 indicates that route 1 is in good shape. and a portion of route 3 is on good shape.
Any other feed back will be much appreciated.
TIA

Bangalore to Muzhappilangad Drive in beach and Back
Hello Guys,
I thought I would update the latest on this route, sorry for the delayed update but thought this could be helpful.
I travelled on 29th December 2011 from Bangalore to Muzhappilangad, Left Bangalore at 5 am and reached Mysore at around 7:00 am had Breakfast at a decent restaurant, I do not recollect the hotel name. We left at around 8:00 am and took the Mysore Mananthavady road. This is where we come across the Kabini Reservior area, I do not recollect the distance but took around one and half hours to cover this stretch. The rest of the way is good and the road condition is very good.
Mananthavady to Nedumpoil
Nedumpoil to Kuthuparamb
Kutuparamb to Muzhappilangad

Return Route,
We took a different route while coming back, we came through Wyanad and the road is excellent, real fun to drive through this place. The Ghat section is under repair and the traffic is very heavy. Traffic is allowed to pass some sections on one side as the other side of the road is being repaired.
Thalassery to Quilandy
Quilandy to Thamarasserry
Thamarasserry - Wynad ghat
Kalpetta - Sultan.bathery
Sultan.bathery - Muttanga.forest
Gundalpet, -Nenjangud,
Mysore to Bangalore
This is a longer route but the road condition is very good.
