and if it is ok to replace the tyres on this bike, the stock tvs tyres that came with the glamour are

front - 2.75x18- 42p/4 pr *both tyre sizes are from maxabout.
    rear - 3.00x18- 52 p/6 pr.

but the tyre size of the tubeless ones (michelin) are 80/100- 18 47 p.

are the sizes of the tyres same??

    .
Your shop keeper was right. It is not safe to put tubeless tyre in normal wheel though in some way it is possible.

Regarding the tyre size, the one you mentioned 80/100-18 would fit your bike. may be its around 3 mm high but that wont be an issue.

If you desperately want tubeless tyre, then change the wheel to tubeless one and then fit the TL trye.

Changing your bike is not necessary unless you are not happy with the bike performance for your kind of travel. I would say change your wheel and tyre to tubeless one..

I am thinking of fitting imported tyres onto my p180dtsi
BUT I ABSOLUTELY AM AGAINST DOING ANY STRUCTURAL MODIFICATIONS TO THE BIKE, LIKE TO THE RIMS SWING ARM ETC.

So plz tell me which is the max sized tyre I can fit, keeping the same rim on my p180dtsi, where can I do this (in mumbai), and the cost of the tyres.

I read Hatari's discussion on how the engine is loaded when tire size is reduced.
I dont wanna put any extra load on the engine whatsoever.
Will my engine stay fine, as I am keeping the diameter constant (rim is the same) , or will it be loaded even because of a fatness increase. If this is so, I will drop the whole idea.

What are the pros and cons of the following two types of tyres: those which have a "spiky" grip, like in dirtbikes and "bald" tyres like those in SBKs.

Regarding the front tyre, I ofcourse am not gonna upsize it coz that will make handling heavier, but what abt same sized tyre with better grip?

and lastly, just for information sake, I read on this site that if u fit a smaller tyre, u gotta do resprokecting to compensate for the loss of speed at a particular RPM, in order not to load the engine. so can anyone plz calculate and tell me, if somebody has fitted an elim rim on the rear, how many teeth should each of his sprokets have, in order that the engine is not loaded at all, and the speed at a given RPM does not decrease??? Thanxalot...

HELP!!! changing Glamour Tube tyres to tubeless

hello, I bought a hero glamour, 6 months back and and since then I have suffered severe pain and problems with tyre punctures. Once got stuck 20kms away from home with no one to help at night at 2:00 am and had to ride the bike home in puncture condition which was dangerous and also had to replace the tube for rs 300.

Hence, I thought of replacing the tubed tyres with tubeless ones. So, today I went to a shop to replace the tyres. however, the owner told me that i can obviously change the tyres and put tubeless on them, but it is not recommended. Because, although the rims are alloy, they are not made for tubeless tyres as the rim does not come with prefixed nozzle. Although they can attach nozzle to the rim, but there are chances of air leakage and it will not be as good as a stock tubeless wheel. He also told me that it is risky and if I want to change the tyres, i would need to change the rim also to tubeless rims. the guy seemed legitimate and suggested me get more info before replacing the tyres.

so, can i change the tyres and go tubeless with out any problems to be faced in future? and is it safe?

Although it may sound silly, but is it better to sell this bike and get one with tubeless tyres pre installed with tubeless rims?

sorry for a long and confusing post if it is. and thank you for your replies.

I travel a lot, sometimes at night on unavoidable work purposes and go to dangerous roads/places, where normally there are no humans around 10-20 kms. And this "WHAT IF" puncture issue is seriously bothering me.

Apart from being little nose heavy, will it have any impact on the bikes handling, performance, mileage, etc?

Depends on how old the tyre is, when bought. Rubber becomes hard and useless by the end of 4 years. If you buy a new tyre (~4 to 8 months old), you can store it for a year and use it later for a couple of years.

Your dealer was right. v1 tyre sizes are no longer available (fresh stock) and you shall have to make do with v2 tyres. I will make the front a little nose heavy though.
