Since the engine is new, go for Castrol Activ Xtra 4T. U can shift to SS/FS after 4k kms.

Engine flush is not necessary again for a new engine! Just drain the oil completely, replace with fresh oil. Make sure the right quantity is filled in. IIRC, 1200 ml is what you need.

            Check this out.

Shell Advance - Products - INDIA

VSX 4 and SX 4 are the ones launched recently and both seem to be semi synthetic. Shell doesnt have any fully synthetic oil for motorcycles in India it seems.
            Thanks dude.
sx4 is 10w30 so i guess i'll just try out vsx 4 (20w40) for the next change.

This might be a stupid doubt but, Is it better to keep the oil level exactly between the E and F lines or is it better if the level is at F oe near the E line??
I was confused because people say if the level is above F or below E it can harm the engine.

              Forget the levels!

Drain out the old oil completely and just fill in the required quantity. After this, take the bike for a short spin and park it on the main stand. Come to the bike after half an hour or so and observe the level. It should be fine.

                    • Don't remember the Exact shop name man! But on a line of three or four Oil shops, One with a Huge Motul SignBoard on it helped. He even told me he can get me petronas in a Month. That was 4-5 months back.
I was in a Hurry!. So got Motul.
Now its time to change Oils again.

And no hurry till i Find Petronas.

apparently the Shell Oil is "Fully Synthetic". I checked the bottle today when i was gassing up at the station.

                          • Hi, i wanted to ask about Castrol Power 1. Should i use the HH engine oil or is this Power 1 worth it?? it costs about 230 RS here in Vadodara. Also, its a new Karizma and i am asking when its time for first service.
                            PHP Code:

                            • snippet of my post in ownership thread. Please help with oil and dealers in chennai

                              1. A week before last saturday i finished my second service. all know they put castrol power 1.

                              - i noticed lately. they dint tight the drain plug properly and it was leaking
                              - They didnt drain the old oil completely. i remember my mech used to drain completely and at times wash the inside of the engine with petrol and drain it. even at shell they removed completely by lowering the bike side ways.
                              - even if we do correctly some 200ml will rest inside but as they didn't do correctly and poured 1ltr back the oil was above full

                              Learned,
                              - never change oil in service center.

                              2. Changing the oil
                              - After a week i went to my mech drained some oil and tighten the drain plug
                              - today im not all happy with power 1 it sucks big time. engine is not smooth and also gear getting stuck.
                              - As my odo reads around 4.3k im not yet ready to go for fully synthetic oil.
                              - all my search for gulf 4t was in vain
                              - i went to shell station in tambaram and they asked to put 4T ultra. Fully synth oil 730 rupees and made in Malaysia. But i was not ready for it. And they had the regular Fastrac. though i used before i dint want to use as it is manufactured in chennai perungudi
                              - left shell bunk empty handed and went to one spare parts shop he had shell VSX synthetic based 290 though mrp was 300. But even that is manufactured in perungudi

                              - also showed moto elf but im not sure of that so didnt buy anything.

Any one know good product to try? god i need to run more to put synth soon.

P.s : dont mistake that i want foreign product and ignoring indian products but the truth some said it is manufactured with tie ups with bharath oil which produces mak 4t. many said its not that good.
