Re: Engine Oils
My bike is 8000kms n 2 years old. Now since a month I'm using it for long runs (say 40kms at once for college runs, total 80km/day).I want your expert advice if I can use Xw50 oil (MOTUL 5100 15w50)??Originally posted by Pinaki View Post

Re: Engine Oils
Best recommendation for these is found in your bike's owner's manual . That is the first one to try .Originally posted by Karthick britto:) View PostHi, Bought second hand 2014 FZ battle green 9k km done, please suggest best engine oil and chain lube. Previously used oil: motul 3100 gold 20w50 can I use same or any recommendation? ..
Firstly , how old is the bike ? Newer engine shall heat up fast and tend to get rough in long runs . It's normal and shall get okay as the kms run up .Originally posted by Balaji Raju View PostShell ax7 is good for upto 20 kms after that my bike gets rough . So I want to try MOTUL . I have once used valvoline premium 20w50 . Bike ran very smooth without performance and mileage loss. Will Xw50 be good for my bike??
TVS Phoenix 125 (10w30 recommended)
If your bike is already well run in and you're finding these problems with 10w30/10w40 which are both 10 base oils , next thing to try is any 20w40 ( Motul , if you prefer that ) .

TVS Phoenix 125Originally posted by kdevdatta View PostMotul 5100 is available in 10w30 or 15w50 grade. Which bike you want to use it for?
Recommended grade is 10w30.But it is not suitable for long runs (say 35-40kms at a stretch with speeds between 60-70).
Presently running on shell ax7 10w40 (engine runs good for 20kms n then it gets rough after that). So going for MOTUL.
Which grade will be good for long runs??

Re: Engine Oils
a semi-synthetic oil would be perfect for the FZ....don't use mineral as that would be low on overall performance, and I think fully-synthetic oils are overkill for the FZ. As for the chain, use Yamalube Chain Lube and Yamalube Chain CleanOriginally posted by Karthick britto:) View PostHi, Bought second hand 2014 FZ battle green 9k km done, please suggest best engine oil and chain lube. Thanks,
My Suggestion :-
1. Motul 5100 4T 15W50 ( Semi-Synthetic )
2. Castrol Power 1 4T 15W50 ( Semi-Synthetic )

Re: Engine Oils
Its good have been using this oil since i moved to bangalore and even before that also got a box of AX7s as the dealership was closing the business in orissa.Originally posted by D.j View PostThanks for the suggestion mate .
This will be my last try I promise to my bike [emoji13] and then will stick to either 7100 or 300v if that gives satisfactory results..
Lastly want to know the feedback of shell advance AX7 as it is darn cheap and semisynthetic too .. I got it at ₹315 .
In total using it for like say 15-20k kms in total. I feel its a good oil for my style of using it. Anyways if you get it for 315 then you can give it a try and junk it if you dont feel happy.

Re: Engine Oils
That happened 50-60k kms back. I switched to 5100 and then iam on the same engine now. Done 1.10 lakh total kms (50-60k kms after the 300v fiasco).Originally posted by Sird View PostThat's a bit on higher side. Mention this to your mechanic next time you go SVC.

When I was in Mumbai, we xBhp people were lucky enough to find a distributor. He was giving flat 50-80₹ discount on each bottle and always said he could give 100-120₹ discount if we purchase 7-8 bottle together.
No such luck in Delhi though.

Thanks for the suggestion mate .Originally posted by Sird View PostChanging oil again & again is not good for engine.
Even if the grade is same (10W40) but from different manufacturers, the oil differs. Stick to the one that was satisfying.

Changing oil again & again is not good for engine.Originally posted by D.j View PostTill now i have used
Yamalube 10w40 synthetic
Yamalube 20w40 mineral
Motul 7100 20w50
Shell Advance ultra 10w40
Next
Motul 300v 15w50 .
Motul 7100 was the best oil so far for me with too much ripping, sane riding , highway riding , city riding and hill riding .. Works well in summer condition. But in winter My svc mechanic said it can create some starting issues. So will be going for 10w40 then ..
