Re: Engine Oils
I have not faced the issue that u have mentioned....I use 7100 10w40 on my apache 180 from past 2 years....since apache has got air cooled engine I change oil every 3000-3500 km....I often check the oil level every 500km...Originally posted by vkuchhal View Post

Re: Engine Oils
Yes . Absolutely no problem in it . Only make sure that the car oil used is of same grade (i.e 10w30 or 10w40 etc ) . You can even use the same car oil in the scooter gearbox . Because the ability to use any any automotive oil in these scooters is because it has a dry clutch , not because of the separate gearboxOriginally posted by Pinak-the stunner View PostModern scooters have separate gear oil. .
Yes you can mix , no problem .Originally posted by hemanta View PostHi guys.. Can I mix motul 7100 10w40 and yamalube FS 10w40 for my FZ25?
Whenever we drain engine oil in a motorcycle, some of the old oil remains inside the engine . This old oil mixes with the freshly poured in oil . Motorcycle oil manufacturer is aware of this and they would not want anyone adopting their oil product ( from using another brand / grade etc previously ) to have problem from the mixing . So ALL motorcycle oils are necessarily made safe for mixing with others , irrespective of grade, brand or mineral/synthetic etc .Originally posted by Srvn View Post... since these two are different brands and being a FS, they might have varied quantities and types of additives in them and 'might' have undesirable effects ...Last edited by Pinaki; 11-21-2017, 01:56 AM.

Re: Engine Oils
Hi All,
A word of caution for people using ninja 250 (2009 -2012) on using of motul 7100 20W 50 grade, after around 4500kms + the engine oil quantity decreases drastically from 1.7lts to 1.2 lts as of burning of oil and a regular topup is required time and again.
I raised the same issue to the Motul facebook page to know if they are aware of the issue and any recommendation on the same, to which i got a call back, with the tecnical person suggested me to change the grade of oil from 20W50 to 10W40, just as a recommendation ( not sure why he was doing it, even he was not aware of it.
).
I have even heard other ninja 250 users faced the same problem with fully synthetic oil and read similar thread on pulsar 220. ( May be a ester Issue).
Just wanted to check with other 7100 & 300V users of the issues faced by them.??
PS: i for my use would not go for motul fully sysnthetic again. may be time to shift to shell.

Re: Engine Oils
I'd not recommend doing so, since these two are different brands and being a FS, they might have varied quantities and types of additives in them and 'might' have undesirable effects on the motorcycle. IMHO you could mix an FS from different brand with a Mineral from a different one if need be.Originally posted by hemanta View PostHi guys.. Re: Engine Oils
Yes but car engine oil is optimised for cars and bike engine oil is optimised for bikes.Originally posted by Pinak-the stunner View PostModern scooters have separate gear oil. So logically car engine oil may be used in scooters. Am I correct?
Company's dump millions of rupees for resurching and development.
They know more than you and I know.
So it's better to stick with manufacturer's recommendation.

Engine Oil recommendation for Apache 150 2006 model.
Hello fellow biwheelers(is that a thing?)!
I am looking to change engine oil for my 2006 Apache 150 clocked 60K. So far I have been using whatever my service guy recommend but I recently changed the city.
Now so far I have shortlisted 2 oils (read from our beloved forum) are Motul 5100 15W50 and Shell advance AX7 10W40(my pick so far since it's cheap).
While I m not picking Castrol as I heard there is a duplicates issues with it but can u please suggest me any other oil apart from AX7 for my bike.
Also I read that if ur switching from mineral to semi/synthetic oil then u need to use the engine flush solvent before that. If that's the case please suggest me few options too(not too expensive).
My runs nowadays are NH1 & here is Northern region things are getting colder now.
Please share ur recommendations/guidance.

P.S- I clocked a milage of 62kmpl from my bike 3 days ago without any settings change. [emoji16]

Yes ! But I don't know if they add anything special in a scooter/motorcycle oil to withstand the extra heat.Originally posted by Pinak-the stunner View PostModern scooters have separate gear oil. So logically car engine oil may be used in scooters. Am I correct?
