Re: Need help in selecting engine oil grade.
Give a try to castrol power1 15w40...very smooth engine oilOriginally posted by TUHIN360 View PostGuys, I have decided to go for Motul full synthetic oil for my yamaha ss125.
So which engine oil would be better for my bike Motul 7100 10W40 or 20W50 or any other grade??( Yamaha recommends 20W40 but the shopkeeper told me that fully synthetic 20W40 is not possible.)
Additional info:
My bike has completed 9k kms and had cold starting problem with yamalube and castrol engine oil(20W40). The throttle remained unresponsive for the first kilometre or so, but now it has reduced a lot after shifting to elf 20W40.

Re: Engine Oils
Thanks ! Was just trying to assure myself since I have done this couple of times. Also, was worried since 5100 is single ester.Originally posted by Srvn View PostYes, as long as the grade does not vary too much... Like say, adding 3100 20w50 to a 5100 10w30 is not a wise move. Whereas mixing the same 3100 to 5100 15w50 is OK.
Cheers
Will pave way for smooth transition to Motul 7100.
Anyone has an idea if Motul 7100 10w50 will cause any issues like leakage on Pulsar 150 ug4.5 ? Please shed some knowledge on this, else I shall be opting for 20w50 in Motul 7100 next.Last edited by MidnightEvil Parth; 05-23-2017, 03:50 PM.

You are absolutely right...fully synthetic can be overkill for small scooter engines...just use plain mineral oil and change it every 1.8 to 2k kms...Originally posted by sstherockz View PostHi,
I currently own an CBR 250R and TVS scooty zest with ODO of 12k.
One of my friend suggeste to use Fully synthetic oil on scooty zest.
My question here is can Fully synthetic oil be used for Scooty zest?
I feel like it's an overkill to that small engine...
Can anyone please clarify.
Thanks in advance

Question regarding oil
Hi
Has anyone used Castrol GTX Ultraclean (5W-30) for their 4-stroke motorcycles?
Just wanted to know if the oil is suitable for vehicles or meant only for cars.
Thanks

Re: Engine Oils
Drain interval for all oils is the same as given in your bike's owner's manual . You may reduce that interval in kms or duration of use if bike is in service under severe conditions . But never extend the drain interval .Originally posted by VXR View Postcan you please tell the drain interval of it?Last edited by Pinaki; 04-05-2017, 10:52 PM.
