Re: Engine Oils
Performs awesome! The best oil you can get for your bike! But now that my average speed has come down to 20-30kmph from the highway cruising speeds of 80-90kmph... I dunno if this would be beneficial to me.Originally posted by hemanta View Post

Re: Engine Oils
What should be the life of synthetic engine oil if bike is used less...
Can I go on using the same oil for over a year if i have not completed the required no of kms for oil change?

Re: Engine Oils
For Fz25 fully synthetic is recommended. Should I go for 300v? 7100 brought out and unnecessary vibes. Out should I try 5100?

Re: Engine Oils
How does 300v perform on your NS?Originally posted by NeVi77e View PostHello guys,
I'm using Motul v300 in my NS200 for the past few years. Earlier I had a monthly running of 1200kms, and hence I used to do an oil change every 5-6 months.
However, recently I relocated closer to my office and my monthly running has gone down to 300-400kms per month.
This makes my total running around 2000kms for 6 months. And according to calculations, it would take me close to 18-months for an oil change (utilising the entire life of the engine oil)
My question is if 18-months is okay as a time period for engine oil change?
I can switch to Motul 5100 later, but currently, I have 3-4 bottles of Motul v300 in stock.

Re: Engine oil
Yea even till now I've seen positive affects of more viscosity oil it's performing better in high speeds!! As it's hot here too (JAIPUR) . CHEERSOriginally posted by Srvn View PostNo, you're not.
Recommended would be 10w40 "MB" I guess, motorbike oils are xxWxx "MA" or "MA2". For now you could run with the current oil. Next time onwards you could use either 10w40 or 20w40 depending on your regional temperature and riding conditions, ensure you use "MB" grade oil only for clutchless scooters.
Cheers

Re: Engine Oils
[QUOTE=Pinak-the stunner;1323025]My only concern is that scooter engine are high revving when compared with car engine..foaming of oil may occur I guess..Originally posted by Pinaki View PostYes . Absolutely no problem in it . Only make sure that the car oil used is of same grade (i.e 10w30 or 10w40 etc ) . You can even use the same car oil in the scooter gearbox . Because the ability to use any any automotive oil in these scooters is because it has a dry clutch , not because of the separate gearbox
.
Svc uses motul 8100 5W40 FS oil in Aprilia SR 150 which is basically a car engine oil. Hence the confusion and query.

Re: Engine Oils
Hope this helps the decisive buyer.
Personally I'd any day opt for a higher flash point since long distance touring/commuting is my preferred means of motorcycling.

I raised the same issue to the Motul facebook page to know if they are aware of the issue and any recommendation on the same, to which i got a call back, with the tecnical person suggested me to change the grade of oil from 20W50 to 10W40, just as a recommendation ( not sure why he was doing it, even he was not aware of it.
).
I have even heard other ninja 250 users faced the same problem with fully synthetic oil and read similar thread on pulsar 220. ( May be a ester Issue).
Just wanted to check with other 7100 & 300V users of the issues faced by them.??
PS: i for my use would not go for motul fully sysnthetic again. may be time to shift to shell.
I use 7100 in my RS for almost 2 years,Earlier also I used it in Avenger 180, Never faced such problem.
Aside,Beware of some online sellers, noticed some sale duplicates-Even on Amazon at discount. So I prefer offline purchase from local stores.
You should stick to service manual for selecting oil grade-I think it is 10W40 for Ninja250 as you stated.
