Re: Engine Oils
For ZMR you can safely use 20W40 or 10W40. As per my experience, somehow Honda engines detest Motul. You can go for Shell which I have found to be the best. Please refer to the Karizma thread in the ownership section.Originally posted by RaajD View PostI recently rebored my 2014 Karizma ZMR. Which engine oil would you recommend, from semi-synthetic to fully synthetic, as in which brand and grade? Thanks.
And please do not go for XW50 grade.

Re: Engine Oils
Yes, your bikes recommended is 15W50 (check your manual once). But 7100 15W50 is not available at all places, It is replaced by the company with 20W50 (In palakkad it is also available in 10W50). 20W50 should not be a problem (for a hot place like chennai) with a 1-2 minute idle for a warm up at first start.Originally posted by TVSian View PostThanks man! I'll stick with the 7100.You have mentioned 20W50,But isn't 15W50 recommended for this bike ?

I recommend 7100 for the street person that does occasional track days because it’s still 100% synthetic and it has ester, so it will handle high temperatures with no problem. 7100 has more detergents and dispersants for cleaning which will typically allow for longer drain intervals, 5000 miles + depending on the rider. 7100 has an API rating of SM which makes in cleaner for bikes with catalytic converters and O2 sensors. 300V can be used on the street but it’s really designed for racing. 300V has double ester meaning Motul has used 2 types of esters in its formula – 1 to be used for friction reduction and 1 for extreme pressures. 300V has less detergents and dispersants vs. 7100 because they’re replaced that with extreme pressure additives built for engines. 300V is not API rated because it’s a racing oil and they assume that on a racing bike, you’re going to be pulling off your catalytic converters and O2 sensors.

After a brief look at the specification of 300V, i have finally reached in a conclusion. And i also strongly recommend you not to use it in your bike and stay safely with 7100 itself. Motul 300V is particularly created for racing use and is not recommended for use in regular bikes. It is super strong & highly capable but misses additives that supports use in normal bikes.

But it actually depends upon your riding style. I have not personally used 300V, but believe it to perform very well. If you are not a cruiser, you can surely take it to another 2000 kms i hope. What is the company recommended grade of oil for your bike ?
If it is 20W50, better stay with 7100 because that is enough and you can save some money too....
