So if I can get the same level of performance from OWS compared to Motul and save around 250 bucks a liter, why not OWS? And the Ninja needs 1.6 liters of oil (with oil filter change).

Makes economical sense for me to go for OWS but need to know if its as good as Motul 300V or better.
According to the article below, Motul 300v is 100% Ester-based and thus very expensive. It is due to the production cost of esters that some companies only fortify their oils with esters to make the oil more affordable.

    An excerpt from the article:

"Esters are the most expensive to produce, and oils manufactured with them usually cost much more. Due to this higher cost, many companies only fortify their oils with esters. Some examples are Bel-Ray EXS, Torco MPZ Synthetic and Maxum 4 Extra. Motul 300V, however, uses 100 percent ester as its base oil, and is one of the more expensive oils."

I would suspect that OWS oil would be a fortified ester oil and thus cheaper. This also explains why Motul is popularly considered as the best and in line with the prices in the market.

I would say, don't compromise on Rs.270, just buy it, even stock more of it if available.

        • Buy Synthetic Oil Online

          hi,
I am currently using Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T and it is due for draining. No synthetic oil is available in my place except Motul 300v 15w50, but I need 10w40 grade oil.
Please tell me if I can purchase synthetic oils "online".
Came across speedworks.in website somewhere in the forum and they are selling OWS 800 Syntholite. Has anybody tried that oil? Is it worth buying at Rs.720?

300v comes in 10w 40 viscosity. it is a bit more rarer than 300v 15w 50 and is hard to find. thre is shell advance ultra 10w 40(i wouldnt reccomend it), there is mobil 1 racing 4t 10w 40 and i guess petronas sprinta 5000 is available in 10w 40 viscosity. all these are full synthetics.

i 've never heard of the OWS before except from the ninja owner in a few posts above yours.

The real problem is that no one sells fully synths at my place(not a big town). when I ask them for synthetic oil they say castrol activ is synthetic, some offers mobil 1 car oil, one says 300v 10w40 is not released yet in Andhra Pradesh..like that. since I am currently using castrolp1racing I don't want to revert back to mineral, also the guy who sold castrol racing no more sells it says no one wants to spend 750 on engine oil, also castrol bike zone was shutdown a year ago.
so I am thinking of online purchase. Any websites that sell engine oil in India? I lost my bookmarks, there is a website which sells motorcycle parts and I can't find it now.
Shell advance ultra is available but I am really dissatisfied by shell mineral that I drained it in just a week, so I am not going to buy shell again.

                • i own a karizma

the recommended drain period as advised by Hero Honda is 6000 km.

but i do change at every 2000 km.

when i told this to friend he told me that it is waste of money.

Why such a big company would fool its customers and it even is not making any profit by extending the drain prd of 6000km.

Please advice which is right to do?

What ever the drain period mentioned in the manual is related to idle running condition.

what you are doing now is correct

if you find the bike response is sluggish or low then inspect the oil
If oil is good after 2000 kms is good then continue for another 1000 kms (thats max )

always check the oil level at least 10 days once
and do review the viscosity of the oil at least 500 kms

our dusty hectic city traffic riding condition is 100 times bad than the company said idle running condition.

Should it harm the engine if I pour only a one litre can of engine oil in my 220?

Guess that happens when they merge a thread opened from that sections into this one?

Less engine oil mean less lubrication. Which means increased wear and tear. Are you willing to risk that? Please use the specified amount of oil. Cheers

Thanks sir for the advice but price is a big factor for costly engine oils.
I am still pursuing my studies so i am a bekaar till now and if i ask my father to give me 850+rupees to change the engine oil all hell will break loose.
The recommended amount is 1150ml. will 150ml will create a big factor?

Well the premium synthetic oils (costly oils as per our understanding) seem to be costly but they are worth on the long run. They have their share of advantages like better FE, longer drain intervals & all those small advantages.

The motul is the costliest of the lot. So in that case i would recommend the valvoline. Its known to suit the pulsar breed & is a good oil at its price point.

Yes it obviously will in the long run. If you use lesser quantity then the oil amount gets dried up faster than usual. Moreover the carbon etc get deposited in the oil & since it is less amount of oil it will get thickened with time in simple words decreased drain interval. In just one point i would say that you would be ruining your bike of 80K+ value for just a matter of few 100s
