Re: Helmets
So after using Shiro SH890 for around 800kms, I can say one thing, the helmet is very light !!
No neck pain, nothing, even on extended rides, so far so good.

A lot of my friends are using SMK helmets from Stellar to Twister to Glide and Force.
Seen 2 crashes on SMK twister specifically, the helmets saved lives very well, and the owners trust SMK a lot, so much so that they again bought SMK lids.
I have no idea why many people say SMK isn't good, maybe they aren't looking at the price tag I suppose.

I've never seen SMK being counted as one of the good ones like MT, THH or HJC.
From what I've heard SMK is just an overhyped Indian brand that isn't worth it. Please share you opinion if you've used it and had an actual experience where it saved you or someone you know.

Re: Helmets
I agree. As a matter of fact, I am using LS2 ff386 which comes with a internal sun visor. So my main visor is clear.Originally posted by The Mountain View PostNever ride at night with a tinted visor. The reduction in light transmission is too much. Most visors have around 40% tint, which means they block 40% of the available light. Since light at night is minimal, any decrease is going to create areas of total darkness, especially if the area you ride has streetlights and traffic; compared to the dim lighting of those sources, any unlit area will appear completely black. That means any person/animal/obstacle that is in those unlit areas will be functionally invisible.
Using a tinted shield in the day is fine, but you need to swap it for the clear shield when it starts getting dark. Most helmets have fairly simple methods for removing the shield, the process takes a couple of minutes at most, which is a small price to pay compared to the consequences of running over someone at night, or worse smacking into the back of an unlit truck parked at the side of the road at 70km/h.

Re: Helmets
Shiro SH890. don't mind the fading marble in the parking space, that's just due to side stands [emoji14]
Initial impressions - The helmet feels light and sturdy, the fit and finish is very good.
I especially loved the visor lock button and the rubber beading to shut visor completely.
Fitted the Pinlock to the visor, videos will follow.
(comes with a free Pinlock30 antifog sheet in the box)

Thank you so much for your suggestion, as you rightly said it's better if I try it out in person as online I really don't know if it will fit well or not.Originally posted by anoopkumar0 View PostSmaller size helmet is really bad. Also, this will become worst in case of head injury.
Better to invest in good helmets.
Here are some options from Spartan gear:
However, better to visit some store and get right fit. If size not available they will order for you.
I hope you know this riding couple. They recently opened new store in Mumbai. Contact them.
I will check up the guys in the video.
Any riders from Mumbai can suggest other good places to buy helmets at good rates? Especially bigger sizes.

Smaller size helmet is really bad. Also, this will become worst in case of head injury.Originally posted by i_rock098 View PostGuys I need a little help, where can I buy larger sized helmets. The maximum size that I see for for Indian brands like Steelbird, Studds etc is 600mm while my head size is 625mm.
While a 600mm helmet does fit me, my temples start to pain really really bad after riding for more than 25 mins. I tried helmets of multiple brands of size 600mm and the same problem with all of them.
Is this pain because of the size only? Or something else? Also where can I buy helmets of size 620mm & 640mm? I stay in Mumbai.
