  • Please resist the temptation to buy MX helmets or local helmets which are shiny and so appear well built,
for ~1K there always will be something by SteelBird/Studds,
    go for them

heard for the very first time,

i was reading a business magazine/newspaper(can't recall) in which it was specified that helmet manufacturing and retailing is a booming business, i presume many people took it seriously and so we have hordes of new brands nowadays,

^^can some one throw some light on what criterias are to be met to get the helmet ISI certified, i mean it appears damn easy, tons of helmets across all shops and they all appear flimsy

ive seen many "slicks" and they always appeared to me as a cheap brand..in fact riders who buy helmets jst to evade cops have tht.

well i just got my new helmet some weeks ago.its the new vega shadow(eye) watever. As far as the helmet goes,it fits really well, the tinted visor gives a really good view both in day and in night.
I was using Vemar VSS Boomerang for past 3 yrs and was pretty happy with it.Vemar VSS boomerang is the same one which is sold by studds as studds rhyno now, although studds is now built in india, while vemar was actually an italian import.
It was time for new helmet as vemars padding was loose and it had gained sum scratches and all.
As i was searchin for helmets i came across various brands,KBC,AGV(italian) and MPA AGV,Cross,index......
KBC i tried along with my friend,a fellow xbhpian hanoz,it was gr8..fit was awesome but the price was too steep, range startin at arnd 15k.sparx was other one available at the same store at arnd 8k,but not dat gr8 on fit and designs.
AGV italian was arnd 8k for normal ones and upto 35k for Rossi Replicas
AGV from mpa was for arnd 2k but the fit was a bit of a question for me..as i wasnt comfy.the helmet was too big for me and none of the shops where i had seen agvs earlier could give me enough padding.the helmet was loose and added trouble was the way its paddings were designed,my specks would jus move inside the helmet(ddint fit well).so AGV was outta q.
I wasnt too sure abt index quality, esp the rubber linings and paddings.
Cross was one brand which was pretty decent for its price but then ..just as hanoz was about to pik it up,the shop owner himself told us to wait for 4 weeks as new helmets were abt to be imported.he was very frank and helpful in telling us that we would have probs gettings visors later for cross helmets,so it was advisable not to take it.
He told us to wait for Vega Imports.I wasnt too sure abt vega as i had kinda developed this image of vega in my mind after seein all these openface/modular and small tiny full face helmets dat we see on road regularly from them.I wanted a proper fullface helmet.
Anywas we both decided to wait for 4 week.4 weeks later turned into arnd 2 months and once fine day i got a call from Hanoz sayin hes bought LS2.i immediately went to his place to try the helmet.the helmet fit was nice.the double d ring strap was just too good.the only issue i felt was its dark visor.it was tooo dark for night riding.
I anywas thought of goin to the store and trying out the new imports.Ls2 matte black was bought by my frnd for INR2300,2800 for graphics ones.Vega was said to be 3500.i tried both, vega's fit was amazing, the helmet was much lighter, the visor clarity was just too good.
I bargained and finally managed to get the helmet for arnd INR 3000.I ended up payin a bit too much as my other frnd got the same helmet fom sumwhere else for INR2700.
The helmet was good but the padding was kind off loose so i went to the shop (AA helmet,Andheri,Mumbai) after a week to check out if i could get a smaller size, and got a new small padding replaced for no cost.
The helmet now is goin gr8,visor is good, not much noise from air while u ride and the build quality is good too.
I feel Ls2 is a nice buy if u can find a Clear visor bcos its dark visor is just too dark for night rides. The padding and chin strap is awesome.
Vega shell design is better, different and the graphics r much better.visor is many times better dan LS2,more clear and helmet feels light when u ride, venting system on vega is good too,the thermocol on top is actually havin channels thru it to actually allow air to pass over ur head, other helmets dat i checked jus had holes drilled into it.while this one had proper channels.
Im very satisfied wid my buy.Check out pics.

wow the vega looks really gud!

Hey jaidev. Congrats first on an excellent lid. One question though. The visor in the snaps look quite dark. How are they at night??? Also is it anti-reflective??
                  Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...
But its how fast you get up, that matters.....

I spoke to the AH helmets dealer on phone today & he quoted me AGV's for 2100, Cross @ 3000 & LS2 @ 2800 (less 10% disc on all to be deducted) I will drop by there tomorrow & check it out personally. Is it recommended to further carry on my quest to A.A helmets ? Anything price/quality difference as compared to A.H helmets?
I dont think there should be any difference of quality. Price may be.. Not sure, as I have never been to A. A. Helmets.
I would suggest visit both the places, get satisfied & make a wise choice
Then come back & share some pix of your helmet
