none taken..i know it was a stupid question..weird questions came to mind after seeing that accident and now its solved.

I am confused between the Sol, Nuvo, Daijya. i Know all these helmets are very good when it comes to protection. so aside that fact my priorities are in the order as follows.

1. Lightness (i have heard Daijya is heavy, so that rules it out. No idea about Nuvo and Sol can some one please tell me exact weight)
2. Noise ( i want to have a helmet i can cruse at 100 km/h w/o going deaf)
3. Overall size of the helmet should be small (i should look like a lollipop wearing it. i am referring this after seeing my friend wearing a ninja flip up)

I would also like to know the difference between SOL SF1, 68s and 68sII.
Lastly
Can someone also guide me to any sparx dealer in delhi. I hear about some Chopra guy. Need his exact address and ph no.

I will throw in some light as to what I came to know about these helmets. I've seen my buddies use, SOL, Daijya and many more. SOL is a pretty good helmet, and sick graphics and pretty light weight too compared to Daijya. Daijya on the other hand too is a good one, and yes, it weighs a tad more than the SOL. NUVO, on the other hand, can't really comment, since I don't have any reviews on them.

Now to the noise component, even the best helmets do have some noise it's not possible for any helmet to be 100% noise free, from the inherent helmet design itself. You can use ear plugs if you want to reduce the noise levels, again depending upon your comfort level etc.

Regarding your comment "overall size should be small" all helmets comes in different shapes and sizes, so be sure what your head size is or if you don't know what your helmet size is, check the inside of your current helmet for more info regarding size etc, which gives you an idea of what size you might want.

It's a bad idea just by seeing others' helmet size, and going for one. Everyone's head size differs, so make sure you get your size correctly.

Maybe others can help you on the topic which I'm not able to cover.

Daijya is owned by DSG (Dream Sporting Gear) Pune.

The build quality/visor quality/fit and padding is very good. The standard Daijya helmets are slightly on the heavier side though. Wind noise comes in after 80 + kmph.

I have owned 2 Daijya helmets so far.. the first one was bought in 2007 which was replaced by a Daijya "Carbon Fibre" in 2011.


My old Daijya (White & Red) and my current Carbon Fibre Daijya



The Carbon Fibre Daijya as expected is very light in weight.

Daijya/LS2/CROSS/Nuvo.all are built on the same Shell.and also use the same Visor and Ratchets.
Their main difference is in the padding and fit.try them out personally to find the one that suits best.

Thank you sir.. by head size i meant some helmets (mostly modular flip ups) have a roundish shape and are large... any one using a Nuvo can throw some light on Nuvo VS SOL VS Daijya

As I said, the graphics/padding/ratchet quality are exemplary!

I was in love with the Carbon! But found it too expensive (13K plus) Hence settled for SparX Nemesis.

Most of these stuff are made in Southeast Asia/China/Pakistan etc.. The tag inside my Alpinestars T-GP Plus Air Jacket says "Made in Vietnam".

I suppose the Daijya must be made somewhere in these countires. What matters is that the quality is very good and "much much much" better than those ISI marked stuff.

The "Lollipop" or "astronaut" effect comes from the design and shape of the shell depending on the helmet. This normally happens when helmet manufacturers palm off just one shell size to cover the entire size range. Higher quality brands use multiple shell sizes to avoid this problem. Try them out yourself to judge!

Contact SriramEfunds for a feedback - he owns both the SOL SF01 and 68s. He's also posted a review here - Helmet Review .

The SF01 IMO is ideally suited for touring with an secondary inner tinted sun lens while the 68s is more street/track oriented. The SL68SII is a version of the 68S which does not have the LED's making them slightly lighter and cheaper too!

Regarding SPARX - check with PRS who is the only authorised distributor for SPARX in India. I don't think Chopra is his dealer.

AFAIK LS2/CROSS/Daijya/NUVO are all made at the same plant in China.

Yes, I contacted the DSG guys once thru a phone call, and yes, the Daijya is made in China for the most part. And their jackets are made in Pakistan, China which ever area is feasible for them and cost effective.

Now there is notion that all Made in China is cheap, useless stuff, that isn't true. I mean, Apple is made in China, most of the electronics are made in China. It's how they make a product, depending on how the manufacturer wants it to be. If they want it cheap, they do it that way. If the manufacturer is keen on quality of his products, then it reflects in his/her products.

+1 and yes, that's true. Especially the LS2, NUVO, and MHR are all made in the same plant

Another testament to that is the fact that the GIR members are using Daijya G-Fit Samurai - Graphite. It is visible in some of the pics posted by the GIR page on FB.

For one, I have a healthy respect for products made in China. Elsewhere I have made this statement too. China products are like -

You want a 1 paisa product, they will give you at 1 paisa quality
You want a Rs. 1000000000 product, they will give you that quality!

My only grouse about Daijya was PlanetDSG was not responsive on the origins of the product plus the Samurai thingy that I had fallen for - was like carrying a truck load of bricks on my head - 3rd, I fell for the "comfort" after wearing than the actual fit - they didn't have lower sizes in that model.

Talking of ISI branding - Even the helmets sold on the footpath carry the glorious ISI sticker and the quality of the product is appalling to say the least.

So the SparX!
