Many of us have seen LS2's with Vega and ISI mark printed on them. Does that mean they are fake?Originally posted by vineetg84 View Post

No Sunny ji, though they are a Chinese company, there are headquartered in Spain.Originally posted by Sunnyside_up! View PostCorrection - LS2 is not headquartered in Spain. They are a Chinese company - MHR Helmets which owns the LS2 and Nuvo brands. Source - LS2 website - LS2 The name LS2 is actually an abbreviation of the family name that owns the company Liao's System.
Source - MHR History
Kindly go to MHR History, and to the eighth paragraph. I am sorry for explaining it for a man of your caliber, but sorry I had to, forgive me.

Ls2 company have their head office in Spain.with manufacturing unit in China, thats the reason customers can enjoy a good quality safety gear at a reasonable price.Vega was the authorised distributor for ls2 in India, and maybe that time the company got the ls2 products in the market with an ISI certification.I never said they are fake,so dont misquote. me.now its distributor is Mr. Anil Gupta.the ls2 company hasn't updated their website,I have a meeting with them in 2 weeks time, the neccessary changes would be made then, thanks for bringing it to my notice,And for general information,if anyone has doubts about the safety of ls2 helmet.go to the website sharp.direct.gov.uk and check the safety rating, the min it has got for a particular FF384 is 2 stars, else others have got 4 stars rating.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostNo Sunny ji, though they are a Chinese company, there are headquartered in Spain.

+1 to that! Whenever going for a bike and budgeting your finances make sure that you always have a 10-12K amount reserved for a decent enough gear! Going a for a 1.3L+ bike and not having a proper helmet is pathetic. If in any case one's budget is 1.3L, why not get a bike in 1.15L-1.2L range and rest for the gear elsewise stretch your budget for YOUR OWN SAFETY!Originally posted by neil.jericho View PostNot to be rude but if you can afford a Honda CBR150, you should be able to afford a better helmet. Details of which helmet and at what price are available on this thread.

If they are a Chinese company, it means that they are headquartered in China. If they are headquartered in Spain, doesn't that essentially mean it's a Spanish firm??Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostNo Sunny ji, though they are a Chinese company, there are headquartered in Spain.

Not really. The company may be founded iin some place, but it doesn't always necessarily mean the company should be headquartered in it's birth place. There are a lot of reasons why a company relocates its headquarters due to cost effectiveness, labor, etc etc.Originally posted by DeVille View PostIf they are a Chinese company, it means that they are headquartered in China. There are lot of multi national companies which are founded in a particular place and have headquarters in different place.

Of course - HQ, HO are words to describe location of the office - the point that I was trying to make is that the company is Chinese founded, managed and owned ( not that that is a bad thing either
) and even named after the Chinamen that own it! LOL! If an Indian company launched a brand and then decided to have its HO in Spain, while the owners and top management continue to operate it from India, would you call it an Indian company or a Spanish one? Anyway, we're splitting hairs and digressing - so forget it!
Vineetg84 - the question was direct and not meant to do anything other than clarify, so please don't misunderstand. You rightly said that imported helmets cannot get certification - which we all know to be true - but I thought that maybe you could shed some light on how Vega is co-branding LS2's with both their name and ISI mark? If they were genuine ISI marked, the LS2 name would appear on the BIS list - since they're not listed, what should we assume? Again, if they are covered by Vega's license, then that means the helmets are being made in India, right? Then why do they have a new importer?Originally posted by vineetg84 View PostVega was the authorised distributor for ls2 in India, and maybe that time the company got the ls2 products in the market with an ISI certification.I never said they are fake,so dont misquote. me.
Confusing isn't it?

Then go for full face... I prefer those any given day
@Others : Just a query... Can the new LS2's visor fit onto the old LS2s like this (http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7637484_n.jpg)I do have Studds Ninja already.. But its a flip open type and I m wary of flip type helmets thats all... The Gliders MC1 had cost me 1350 INR..Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostSafety is just as good, though not as expensive helmets, it offers basic protection which is more than enough for "normal use" If you plan on touring / frequent long tripper, I suggest you go in for a decent quality helmet. You have LS2, Studds Ninja, VEGA etc etc. All should be good for touring. That being said, what suits you is what counts!

the point I m trying to make is that Ninja was 1650 INR so, being in the same price range Is it that Ninja is of better quality do you think ?

If you are to ask me: NEVER NEVER EVER buy open flip helmets! IT DOES NOT PROTECT YOUR CHIN/JAWS by any means. And when you are buying something for protection, it should protect you by all means. I have seen my self in college that people go for open face Helmets just to Show-off / Looks etc etc. Trust me, even Lookwise nothing beats Full-face helmets. They are gorgeous in their looks and on top of that - Make you look PRO!Originally posted by catchdebanjan View PostI do have Studds Ninja already.. I also personally don't suggest flip ups. If you can go upto 2k mark in budget, you can get solid colored Cross helmets. Or else you have got steelbird tooOriginally posted by catchdebanjan View PostI do have Studds Ninja already.. But its a flip open type and I m wary of flip type helmets thats all... Got a new helmet for the Leh Ride
The SS-1 from Dual Sport - SOL Helmet India
It looks pretty much like the XD3 from Arai!
Good things
- You can see a LOT through this! has to be one of the broadest display dimension that I have seen!
- Adequate Ventilation (which could mean wind noise too)
- LOVED the fit and finish!
- The lense hardly has any distortion!
- The Chin strip can safely house a mobilephoneHand held camera if need be :P (DO NOT DO THIS!)
Whats not so good! Tough to find but..
- The Clips for the air vent is a bit clunky!
If you are into Rain riding, or bit of dirt riding or in any sort of riding which involves splashing mud\muck water by yourself or by others, then this is a helmet worth checking out!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more
