  • Its the same cost for me here in Cochin from where i got my helmet, but he too doesn't have the visor in stock. Other shops around the area seems to be selling it at 600/-
Just wanted to conform on the price.

    Thanks mate

Bro, Modular helmets are not exactly safe, sure it's great when you go eventless(read crash) through out the use. Like me, i had a Studds Ninja convertible helmet, used it for 2 years without any problem, din't have any falls or anything, but as time went the flipping mechanism itself started making the helmet feel flimsy, so i would suggest to get a full face helmet itself and you seem to have a pretty generous budget for a helmet, so why spend that much on a helmet which compromises on safety, when you can get superb one's which provide exceptional safety instead ?

    Just saying totally your choice.

Basically i wear specs so i find it very inconvenient to own a full face helmet. I'm in search of a modular helmet of good quality and make. Tried Vega boolean but was not that convinced.
Please recommend something. My budget would be in and around 4k. Can stretch a bit if I like something. I stay in mumbai so let me know which shops are better in providing good helmets.

Keeping the bill is a marked evidence stating that you have purchased from a particular shop or person, which can be used to get a replacement if there's some problems associated with the product, it's your right to get a replacement, shop keeps always do some mumbo jumbo things to avoid giving a replacement.

All defect may not show itself when new and shiny, some surface only after using a bit because of the cheap quality materials used(if any) and that's when you'll need to get a replacement. Especially when you spend big bucks for a life saving object.

Absolutely right! Also, especially in the case of imported helmets, if they have been imported directly from the parent company abroad by the authorised Indian distributor, they will have proper import documentation and taxes. If the importer has paid the taxes, he will resell in the market ONLY with a tax invoice, since he will otherwise be liable for the VAT himself. Therefore a good way to ensure that you are getting the genuine article is to insist on a tax invoice, since original goods would have been tax paid anyway. When the dealers offer you the 'option' of a tax invoice, that means the product has not come through the proper channels and also cannot be warranted. Normally this also means fake. In either case, you cannot be sure of the product which has no invoice.

While I would totally agree on this argument in the case of Indian Made helmets, since the verification and testing systems are so lax, the properly certified imported modular helmets have to pass the same stringent crash testing that their full faced equivalents do, so the mechanisms are designed to take severe impacts. Modular helmets abroad form a big chunk of the market and are considered as good as full faced helmets from the safety perspective. In other words, a genuine DOT or ECE certified modular helmet has the same safety rating as the full faced one. Mind you these helmets are normally much heavier than the full faced versions because of the heavy hinges and locks required to pass the tests. The very heavy duty construction of these properly certified helmets would make the Indian equivalents look like toys. However, the caveat lies on "genuine certification"!

All that said however, I personally would prefer a helmet that has fewer components that could fail, and prefer regular full face helmets too!

I think the only modular helmet from a reputed brand was of Nolan. Are there any other big names which provide modular helmets ?

Thanks for sharing that detail. It was very informative.

True that what Sunny said. I myself was in a dilemma where I had to ask the reseller the same question and insisted on a tax bill, where it'd be costly if I opted for a bill, else it would be a grand cheaper.

That said and done, Sunny is right about the modular helmets. If you observe carefully, modular helmets are used for, by the most part, the guys who tour on their motorcycle, at least in abroad. Yes they are certified to the same standards as the full face, but it gives you the optionality of being comfortable without removing the helmet. With just a flip up, you can get the practicality and the protection of a full face when locked down.

The ball game is not that different, ultimately the use is the same. That's the same reason, it's not so common to see supersports bike riders using the modular helmet. The same rider would be having a modular and a full face helmet, but he's wise enough to know when to use both according to which ride he rides and when.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Personally if your helmet looks good and new I think its good to go without bill since even if you take the bill they could say that you met with some accident and its a harassment replacing it. Would you please post the pic of the glove you bought and some review on it like how comfy is it, behavior in rains/sunny climate, washable, sweat smell etc.

ID:	1833094yesterday i went for a short trip
lid feels really light, everything about the lid and gloves were good
the air vents works really well
there is wind noise when i pass 90 kms but not a big issue
                      lid is a looker
everybody were confused whether to see the lid or the bike
the lid is really well built cos yesterday my hand slipped and the lid fell on the floor and my heart stopped until i saw that there was not even a minute scratch i really felt so relieved about it
but bad thing was when i was cruising at 100kms , a small stone hit the visor and scratched the cool visor, i felt really bad but later realized it was very common
after multiple scratches i can change the visor to a clear one
about the gloves, i really loved it at first since i was wearing it for the first time i felt really uncomfortable, i wanted to throw it away but later got adjusted to it
it has good air vents, air flow is good overall it is definitely a vfm gloves
                      it has good safety paddings

However, my ride is a black RTR160. So, I'm thinking that the white may look odd with my ride. Is it good to proceed with white or does grey look better with a black ride? Also, if you are aware of any other color, please enlighten me.

Hey all, I'm also looking to buy an LS2 Phobia. I know colors are subjective. But among the 2 colors available for Phobia, i.e, Grey and White, I like white a lot. However, my ride is a black RTR160. So, I'm thinking that the white may look odd with my ride. Is it good to proceed with white or does grey look better with a black ride? Also, if you are aware of any other color, please enlighten me.
LS2 Phobia comes in Red, Yellow, Grey and White as far as I've seen. Red must be a good considering your bike's color. But that's just my thought. Red and black the sexiest combination

Google is your best friend. Go to Google, type LS2 Phobia grey, it almost brings you all the colors including grey.

                                Cheers!

                                THE END
