Cheers!!!Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostFirst off, you need to understand what are dualsport as opposed to street spec helmets. And if you go back quite a few pages, I've explained what are the advantages of a MX helmet/ street helmet. This helmet is just a fusion of those.
Quick recap.
Ventilation: Most full face helmets, don't offer the ventilation that a motocross helmet provides. Now there is a catch here. Dualsport helmets if you see, most of them are used in bikes which have upright riding position (proper touring bikes as opposed to a crouched position sports bike) which means a lot how the helmet performs. You wouldn't wanna use a dual sport helmet croucing at 100+ speeds. Some use, some don't. But if you see abroad, and their usage of helmets that should give you an idea of how they use different helmets for different types. Full face street, motocross MX helmet. Dual sport touring/enduro.
Next up is vision. The added advantage of these dual sport helmets are first and primarily the vision. With huge goggles all the way, they provide good periphery vision as opposed to full face helmets. Now it's not to undermine full face helmets, but with a huge frontal visor the vision advantage it offers is commendable.
Next up those rain/sun protectors. These provide decent sun shade/rain protection, which again is an added plus when comes to long distance touring and enduro type riding.
But all in, it's a mix of both MX/Street for the right comfort and flexibility with the *adequate* protection of a full face helmet.
Cheers!

Re: Helmets
Vijay has pretty much nailed it, except that I do use mine even for high speed jaunts down the highway on my Ninja 650r - no issues so far. Of course as he also pointed out, if you are intent on crouching, a full face would be more suitable. What I like is the versatility during touring. The peak helps shield from the sun, rain, etc., while also protecting the visor from debris in an off road situation.Originally posted by thegeneboy View PostThanks VJ.. Cheers!!!

Re: Helmets
Basically yellow lights are used in foggy weather as an extra headlamp as it provides a better visibility to the other vehicle. you see those flood lighting on streets and highways, I mean those vapour lamps, they are too yellow ............. that is the funda here ............ therefore using a yellow visor won't serve the purpose to you because a visor acts as a receptor and not a light source.

Re: Helmets
Any tinted as opposed to clear *ANY TINTED* visor isn't approved for night riding. Personally it's just a compromise for yourself and fellow motorists.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Those yellow shade glasses ?
Search for Gunnar Glasses. They make Glasses for pc gamers to protect eyes from rays of continuous usage.
So its just that you won't feel blind with someone coming towards you with bright light like HID and high beam on.

The yellow tint will then help your eyes from getting blind.
But its just till you have good street lights.
Remember, nothing gives good visibility than naked eyes. Right ?
So no other Visor also can give better visibility in night than a transparent glass.
