Not at all normal. I never liked AH Helmets ever since I realised he gave me a ill fitting helmet at an over price.

In fact I would highly recommend the people here that instead of LS2 or Cross, go for SOL helmets. The base model is for Rs. 500 more than your usually LS2 helmets, but at least there are no fakes in the market unlike LS2 and Cross

I dint actually meant that, ok let me be correct with my things, I don't like the graphics on LS2 as I think it's too much of graphics and that of Steelbird helmet graphics look cool. . . The reason why I am asking for a flip up helmet is that I will be traveling with my team and be going for rides and in those situations, if at all I feel frustrated about the full covering, I \can at least flip it up to get some fresh air. . . That's the reason. . .

Auright my dear friend.. what all the other folks are trying to point out here is that these flip up helmets are not safe when compared to the full face ones.. Reason being if you have a fall (I pray that never happens) and at that point the flip up if not close properly or if kept open you'll enjoy the fresh air plus fresh gravel/stones/dirt/tarmac and fresh bruises and worst case a dislocated lower jaw .. Now there have been cases during crashes even with that flip up part being closed, it opened up due to the impact and the rider had bruises on his face and had stitches on the chin area..

Now scratch that patch of hair on your head, think about it and make the right choice for yourself bro..

I admit those graphics on the given helmet is BS and is a turn off, but hey, these are not the only graphics on LS2 helmets! You can try out different stores and pick one up which suits your taste. I don't personally own an LS2, but I use a fullface helmet from TiH. Anyways, a full face helmet is much better than the flip-up ones as though it might seem *more* comfortable you can still get that same comfort from a full face helmet with the visor pulled up!

I don't get the need for that flip part in that modular helmet. If you don't want a full face helmet and thus you are chose a modular one why bother? Go for one rust bucket with out the lower jaw protection. After all, from your description, you intend to ride with the lower part pulled up. And I personally think modular helmets look some what ugly.

I'm not able to see it .. but anyway I doubt he'll give you a replacement as he'll claim the scratch came afterwards .. It's good that it's atleast the visor and not the body .. and can be replaced for Rs. 500 or so .. But I wouldn't recommend AH to anyone.

Also AFAIK, helmet always come with the clear visor by default (like the one in the post above) and not any tinted ones . So you should've got a clear visor by default. I might be wrong though.

                Review on my studds scorpion...
When I came to xbhp and asked for the best/cheapest helmet I could get with no compromise on safety many suggested scorpion.
As I fully trust them,I got scorpion that day itself for rs 1700.Some points-
1)It is heavy..1450 gm..but now got used to it..no problems at all.But It is only almost as heavy as my friends LS2(rs 3500/-).
2)Its got 3 air vents in the front and 4 in back..good ventilation.
3)The overall quality and finish is comparable to that of my friends LS2(rs 3500/-).
4)The paddings inside can be removed and washed.
5)The chin strap also is really good..easy to remove and put in.
Very happy that I brought it..And thanks a lot to guys in this thread for suggesting this helmet.
Also I suggest this helmet to anyone on a tight budget...but no compromise on safety.

The tinted paint or whatever it is , is peeling off and that came out when i removed the sticker off the visor. The problem is only on the visor but i am now concerned with the overall quality of the helmet.

ok after reviewing all your comments will be going for a full face helmet, tell me other brands other than LS2 and please no off road helmets, I don't like to ride a regular sports bike with a dirt bike helmet which almost every people does it, especially for their R15, they use off road helmets, don't know why they like those even if it doesn't suit the bike. . .

Well you may look into my review of my TiH helmet here.

There are many other brands. You may get fine helmets from Studds. look at Alby's post above. I do not know about Vega though it is very popular among people. I've seen some people here referring to it as 'plastic mugs'.

I think you haven't gone through this thread much. We do not like using mx helmets for on-road purpose. See a few pages back and you will come across some posts bashing the use of off-road helmets on regular commuter bikes. The only thing we tried to tell you is to use a regular full-face helmet as it could prove important in the safety department as well as in the comfort segment.

Ok got it, liked your review and the design of the helmet looks cool except the graphics, in fact that's the kind I would like to buy, mmmmh ok not as a flip up helmet but has a full face helmet with visor and air vents and the other person's helmet, have given a look too, same response good helmet but over graphics. . . So what's the exact name of the helmet so that I'll opt for that kind of an helmet and if at all I don't get these, then will go for LS2 without graphics . . .

Original DOT and ECE helmets are mandated by law to leave factory ONLY with clear visors. That is why when you buy a genuine helmet abroad, you will have to buy the smoked or iridium visors separately as after market. The only other option is when dealers themselves swap visors to woo customers with the looks - but I don't think that is the case here.

iridium coating is done in two ways. In the cheaper, short- lived method, it is sprayed on, while the proper way to do it is to actually dip the visor in a baking process called flow coating. This is more expensive and time consuming, so cheaper helmets use the first method. The sticker peeling off the iridium coat is symptomatic of the first method.

Of course such a device is available - it's called a screwdriver!

Jokes aside, the reason that dual sport visors have a screw mechanism is because, it also holds the peak in place. I use an MX style tinted goggles over the helmet when riding long distances off road in the sun. The helmet has grooves in the shell to hold the elastic band of the goggles in place so that it does not slide around, and in fact you can even close your main clear visor over the goggles, though the open visor fully retracts into the shield to give you some fresh air. When it gets dark, simply remove the goggles and use the main clear visor. Like I said, one of the most versatile helmets I've ever used.
