Also some small plastic piece was lying on the floor presumably broken off from somewhere. As there was no problem with the functioning, I assume there is no problem. Didn't want to re-open and check, or apply vaseline again, because such things tend to break more often than not in my hands

Do you think the creaking has anything to do with rainwater?

Another thing, how is the ventilation supposed to be in the helmet? My Airoh has two airflow points, one at the chin and one above the visor, and according to the manual, the air exits from the base of the helmet/back of the neck. There is no airflow vent on the back of the helmet. Somehow, I feel the lack of air/oxygen. Am riding for about a month now, so I know it's not that I am yet to get accumulated to a helmet. Today, by the time I reached home I was feeling as if my senses were getting dull, I opened the visor on impulse and immediately I felt a burst of freshness in my brain, and it was not just because of the wind in my face. Normally, I do open the visor only when the wait at the signal is long and never while riding.

Or am I getting dehydrated too fast? While riding in monsoon, one may not sweat too much or realise that one has sweated a lot. I know that even generally, I tend to feel too hot/sweat all over. Now, even with lower monsoon temperatures and mesh jacket, I think my body's general tendency to heat up plus traffic plus heat from RE engine etc might be combining to suffocate me more. I have started carrying water, but I think the problem mainly is happening with the head i.e. the helmet.

Please share your experiences on this guys. I can handle sweat, but not dulling of senses that may lead to loss of control or worse.
Of course no manual would state to use a lubricant, it was my discretion right, and I posted that back. The small plastic thing that may have come off, are those small rollers that are in the side of the helmet visor that rolls down and holds on to the ratchet mechanism. Those rollers are really small wheels and they are clumsly engineered that they can come off after repeated usage. But that doesn't mean it won't work, it will. That creaking sound is most probably caused the by that roller broken and it can't be replaced, if indeed is broken.

And you're absolutely right, AIROH's fit is a little snugger than most helmets and you almost feel choked at times after wearing its sometime. My RJays helmet is my favorite even I have the GP500. It has superb field of vision and excellent ventilation. AIROH is tighter, snugger and the fit is where I hate it, way too snug that it restricts my breathing movement. But after repeated usage it seems to be getting in shape.

The dilemmas you faced were faced by me too, too much perspiration in the head, unable to breathe and a sense of vertigo after wearing this helmet first, all due to the wrong size, I should have gone for a bigger size XL and instead opted for L. But it needs time for you to get used to it.

The easiest way to check would be to switch helmets with a more comfortable fit for a few days to see if the helmet is the culprit. I personally find it hard to believe that a helmet can be so tight that it cuts off ventilation but VJ has had this experience, so do check.

My guess is that your RE has a leak in the exhaust system and that you're slowly poisoning yourself with carbon monoxide. This effect can be compounded by slow moving traffic where you're inhaling smoke directly from your exhaust head sitting underneath you. Since your helmet is not ventilating, the poisonous gases may be getting trapped inside and slowly suffocating you.

In any case, as you rightly said, you should get to the bottom of this ASAP - as what you are describing is needed dangerous. Please do let us know what happens.

BTW, if the helmet is so tight, why didn't you exchange immediately?

The only problem with SOL is that it was unable to withstand 120+ speed (my mistake I was on supersport :P), otherwise its pure VFM helmet
My vote for HJC, have used one for 50kms, quite light and ventilated too.

None of these models have dual visor.

If you are keen then look at SF-1. Its the dual visor model in SOL plus also has the LED feature. costs around 5.4k
