The helmet under the question (SOL SS1 Dual sport) is not a true blue motocross but a cross between the motocross and street. As i am not really in to motocross, i wanted to find out how it fares in the usual day to day rides and occasional tours, from people who have experienced it. Not much useful user feedback on the same is available on net.

The SOL SS1 Dual sport - IMHO - is good for city rides and definitely not recommended for touring. I have a Harley Davidson branded HJC IS 33 for my city rides and (not HD branded) HJC CS 14 (regret buying it though) which is snug/ good finish and clear vision through the visor during day and night. My only grouse about CS14 is the windnoise. May be I need to check the visor fitting once again.

SOL SS1 Dual sport has been used by Stayen and Ninad from Mumbai - Leh - Mumbai ride , proving its touring capabilities. The flap can be removed for highway touring by removing a single nut.
I guess enough have been discussed on the same helmet again. I would request concerned buyer to check the helmet in person and then decide.

P.S : It is "NOT" a motocross helmet.

Hey guys,I bought a AGV K3 Rossi Icon Helmet from the U.S. No I didn't go there, I bought it from Revzilla.com First time buying
anything from them, it has been a really pleasant experience. Great customer service. I also bought a pair of
SIDI New York riding shoes. They sent it by USPS (US Postal Service) - Priority International Express Mail. I wire transferred
the money to them on the 13th and they sent the stuff same day, it got here on the 26th Dec and I picked it up today (27th) from
the local Post Office. I could track the shipment at USPS website and India Post Website. Great looking helmet with Valentino Rossi's
signature. If anybody is interested I can post few pictures here in the next day or so. By the way I din't pay any duties either, I asked our
postman whether I have to pay any duties he said no 'there is no duty', so I just shut up and picked up the shipment. I was expecting to pay
around 20-25% duties on this. Oh well who am I to argue with Customs or the Post Office.

I am currently using Studds ninja 2g helmet and want to buy a better one.
My budget is upto 3.5k, I am looking for helemt which reduces wind noise, comfortable to wear and offer less drag as my current lid starts pulling my head back whenever I cross 80kmph. I remember someone bought "Vega Axon" and it is dot approved. How does it fares wrt noise reduction and comfort.

@nasirkaka...........I hope this ends all your remaining concerns

              1. The senior member in context is Sunny sir (@Sunnyside_up!). He is also associated with SPG, so treat his words as the official ones.

              2. SOL helmets enjoy a good reputation not only for good product quality but also for caring backup for spares. In case you are freaking about the availability you may get in touch with SPG and order 3-4 spare visors.

              3. As you must have seen that SS1 has a chin curtain in place, so the dust issue leaking inside from chin is taken care of. Make sure that you keep the breath deflector open while wearing glasses.

              4. The dual sport helmet is meant to cater to the needs mostly of a tourer and partly of a commuter. The accessory attached on top of the helmet is meant for protection from sun rays while touring. If you are still uncomfortable with the sun, you may put up an external goggle over the visor to meet the purpose. So, in a way you do not need to put a smoked visor in a dual sport helmet.

Your best bet is LS2 Phobia or LS2 FF350 (avlb in many graphic schemes, prefer anyone but with matt finish, as it will last longer) ............ official MRP is around 3500/- and members on this thread have managed to bargain it till 2800/- along with earbuds and a pouch .......... so test your bargaining skills. Next contender in recommendation is Studds Scorpion........... It will come at around 1800-2000/- and is a good alternative from an Indian Manufacturer.

You should also keep an eye to check for UV-protection rated visors (if avlb on these two) and furthermore buy a spare visor, i.e. if tinted one is on the helmet then buy a clear visor.

              Warm Regards,
              Pranav

I rode with it (Sidi New York riding shoes) a couple of times and I like it very much.
All vulnerable points on the feet are protected and there is plenty of airflow.
Overall very nice everyday riding shoes with a reasonable price from a top brand,I can't complain.
You can read more reviews at revzilla.com website and there is a demo video there too.

Ps: since this is a 'helmet' only thread I don't know if it is appropriate to talk about
riding shoes here. Oh well sorry about that.

Pranav sir - No offense meant. I was only giving MY opinion. For that matter, people have toured with the "dog bowl" kind helmet too and have claimed great things about them.

I personally have used the HJC CS 14 on a 800+ km round trip. and I would not recommend that for touring either. (Again - MY personal opinion alone, I hope I am allowed to express that unlike the other forum) Please do not get upset.

Am no great senior either. Just a budding noob! I had a co-rider who had used a motocross/dual sport kinda helmet from SparX and he was thoroughly irritated with the contraption throughout. So mentioned.

Asked for a tinded visor but the shopkeeper said it wont be available for this model. Can i get it online or somewhere else? or wont that be available really as the shopkeeper said ?
