I wrote the same thing, it's better to invest in better when the speedo can go up to 180. BUT people here are hell bent on selling the shifter. It's ok for someone on budget but definitely not the best.

yes. exactly. at 1800 bucks, it's virtually the lowest end helmet to buy at a propah helmet shop.

Which is exactly why i said this about your post...

My only concern about this whole Studds Shifter helmet conversation was that...

Sarvajit said he already had a Studds Shifter and was wondering if he could or should use it with his R3.

No Sarvajit No! You could but you shouldn't!

And my only question is WHY?

Without Experiencing the Product? Just because you "Think/Perceive" it to be an inferior product?

Which part was difficult to understand payeng that when a bike that goes upto 180, rider needs something better.

P.S : I have used Shifter too for couple of rides, its nowhere match for 120 above speed. Crashing in it is different story

you've clearly said that the helmet is noisy afer 60kmph.

how likely is a studds visor likely to get scratched?

and how prone is it to fogging up? does it have a demist tab?

what is the field of view?

Is the inner lining replaceable and washable?

how effective are the vents?

can the visor be replaced with a UV dark visor?

how heavy is it compared to "more expensive" helmets?

what abous the kind of clip that fastens the helmet to your head.

there are so many things that seperate a Studds helmet from an AGV.

and it's simply not just brand perception.

there's no way a Studds can offer more protection than a AGV for example.

and 2000-3000 is too little to spend on a helmet for someone riding a bike that can go past 180kmph.

.

I gave it a good thought. Since I've spent close to 4L on the bike, 4K is nothing for added comfort and protection.
I was a bit sad to miss out on the Shifter's internal visor, but I cannot get everything.
My riding gear (Cramster mesh jacket, pants, boots and gloves) is in good shape since 2009.
So I went ahead and bought this LS2 FF352 Corsa something.
Hope it is more silent at high speeds. The speeds will eventually increase after run-in. I don't want to crash test any helmet ever. 😆
Shifter will continue to be enjoyed with the Ahem! Studds Ninja 2G flip up and Marshall half face in city with R15 and Fiero. 😆
Thanks for your inputs all. I will report on the helmet's performance after the breakfast run-in ride tomorrow.
Some pics.

Excellent! The LS2 should be relatively silent at high-ish speeds.

I think I have an LS2 with an internal sun visor. It's all wrapped up in cling film right now coz I've got other helmets that I use.

Will let you know the model number.

Do share how this LS2 fares in terms of Wind Noise.

The Axxis is the entry level MT (though ECE & DOT rated) with a tapered cut & fit. The Blade is a stronger build sporting a round shell with great padding & internal sun visor.

If fit is perfect, and as your budget allows for it, go for Blade over Axxis. There are more graphic options in the Axxis, although that should be your last criteria.

Embedded speaker pocket is used for a communicator like SENA.

Kranos is of similar build quality like the Axxis but in a completely different shell shape.

Thanks Bro!! As you suggested i went and tried all 3 helmets from MT and you are right. Blade has a great build and padding. Amazing one indeed. Unfortunately i could get size small, which is my size. Tried at all outlets by calling them up. No luck. For now, will be using my old helmet for one more month and trying hunting for blade may be after couple of weeks.

Cheers again.

So I tested the new LS2 upto speeds of 150+kmph. There is no wind noise till 80, after 100 it creeps in and doesn't increase post 120 also.
I missed the internal visor badly.
On the other hand, my earphones stay in place and I rarely need to adjust them.
I guess only top end racing helmets may offer more comfort than this at high speeds.
But it is not at all scary, in fact feels secure and comfortable.

Hi Guys,

I'm not an expert, but based on certain threads in here, i went ahead and bought Lazer Bayamo Z line helmet from Amazon. Mostly because that was the only one that i thought would fit my enormous head. It was a good fit. And, that is the only helmet that i use now.

Having said that, i am not completely ok with this helmet. Any speeds above 80KMPH and it howls like its no-one's business. especially when going down an empty highway. I always wanted to motovlog and i thought this was a good one to start with. I am starting to get doubts. This has too much wind noise... esp if i keep it's vents open. I have tried with the vents tightly shut, but the result isnt that great.

The question now is, i saw this thing called windjammer and it looks cumbersome. What are the ones that y'all use for daily use? which is the one best suited for highway travel? Do you all use earplugs? If these are questions that have already been answered in this thread, i am sorry.. going thought 1200 pages isnt easy. So, any help would be highly appreciated.

I guess no helmet comes with 100% sound proof. Post 80 kmph all helmets face this problem, some have less and some have more. I personally use headphones to avoid the wind noise and strictly avoid listening music.
