Re: Helmets
I need a new helmet to replace my current vega trojan.
Please suggest something according to my below mentioned requirements:
Requirements:
1. Safety (DOT or similar certified?)
2. Chrome visor (or internal chrome goggles if external visor is clear transparent type)
3. Breath deflector
4. Scratch resistant visor
Budget: 3.5k can increase to 4.5k if required but not more than that.
Suggested helmet must be available online since local shops only keep studds, airon, vega etc in their stock.
ps: sorry if this has been asked before. I tried searching but couldn't find a similar query. There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

Sincere apologies for going AWOL!
The TH-76 arrived the day I posted but from the day after that i was down with severe illness (Jaundice like symptoms struck all in family) and had been laid low until a couple of days ago. When it came, I just opened it to check for damage and kept it back inside. If you are still interested in a review, I will take a short ride with it tomorrow morning and pen it down here.
Sorry again to have kept you hanging!

Will test and let you know. Someone mentioned it earlier in the thread to be really good.Originally posted by danny king View PostHow is air circulation for Studds?
They also gave a free hair protector net which I believe, when worn, protects against excessive scalp sweating. From variable Bhps to a constant 17.6 Bhp.

THH T-76 Scorpion
I was searching for a new helmet for sister and had decided upon a Flame Blue Shifter but the model was nowhere to be found; online or offline. This was her first helmet and I was ready to spend up to 3K and from the previous posts on this thread, learned that the Shifter indeed was the best model available in that price range. I anyway was going to buy online as there are no decent helmet options where I stay. Then came across PayTm and its cashback offers and decided to pick one from there. After contemplating between a Shifter and the T-76, I went for the latter. The Scorpion to be precise.
The entire finish, as can be ascertained from the pics, is glossy and it certainly makes it look cool. This is a free size helmet (59-60 cm) and it fit me perfectly. The fit will only get more snug once the helmet sits atop a balaclava/bandana. Putting the Scorpion on and taking it off is a much easier task than on the TS-41 Orange Bull (which I bought for myself but not ride tested yet). It almost feels as if the TS-41 has a smaller circumference bottom edge. Both being free size, the fit is more snug on the Bull than the Scorpion. However, I will ride test the Bull in a couple of days as well for a definitive opinion.
I called up a number available on THH's website to enquire about the sizing aspect and the guy told me that their minimum size for full face helmets starts at 58 cm. Most of the online sellers usually stock the free size units (59-60 cm). He also said that they are in early stages yet and will launch more sizing options and more models in more cities next year. For now, if anyone wants a size M (58 cm) in any desired model, he will have to go one of THH's resellers who will get the needful done.
There seem to be many THH resellers in Mumbai (you can learn about more info about dealers in your city by simply mailing THH or calling them up on the numbers on their site) and spares should not be a problem.
Now comes to the riding part. Thanks to the just about snug fit, the Scorpion isolated my ears well enough. But even then, I could feel the wind noise creep in past 60 kmph. This became quite pronounced at around 90 kmph although by no means unbearable. The use of ear plugs is a must I feel. But that apart, I couldn't find much to cry over this helmet.
Quality of liners ans straps is top notch while the helmet is well put together.
The visor is a clear one and is without any blemish.
DOT certified. One of the reasons I went for it over the Shifter. Of course, the final price of 1.7K after cashback was the icing!
Plenty of cushioning on the sides. Although the back portion could have done with some more cushioning.
Removable inner liners.
D-Ring Strap
The visor lock mechanism.
Below pictured are the air circulation vents. Build quality of these plastic bits seems to be alright.

Re: Helmets
Hey everyone!
I need help with purchasing my next helmet. I am currently using a Vega Cliff. It's my first helmet and has been with me for more than 2 years. i wish to upgrade to a better helmet which will be more comfortable on longer rides.
My budget is 3k to 5k max, only if the helmet is worth it. (you know what i mean.)
Recently, i went to a two stores near the Andheri East flyover, before the turn at Landmark, the Vega Helmet store and the one after it run by a man called Kantibhai.
i received contradicting news which has confused me so i am looking for clarity from you knowledgeable folk.
The Vega Store kept helmets from LS2 too but now the prices have been increased to 5500 for the new stock that has come in. i just glanced at the models and left.
I visited Kantibhai's store next, three shops away. he had a few LS2 models but he was more keen and had quite a stock of THH helmets. here;s what Kantibhai told me:
1. LS2 helmets are not DOT or ISI certified and the pieces being sold earlier in 2.5k or the range of it were cheap replicas.
2. THH helmets has re-entered the market with ISI certification in conjunction to its DOT certification. the older lot of helmets from THH only bear the DOT certification graphic but the newer ones have an ISI mark Sticker on them. he said that the company has undertaken the necessary steps to obtain the certification to become legal for sale in India.
I tried on a THH helmet, i can't recall the model number but it has a matte graphic finish with the Pilot design. the fit was great and the helmet wasn't too heavy either.
it came with a metal buckle fastener and they don't have micrometric fateners, i was told by Kantibhai.
however, the news of LS2 not having Certification spooked me a bit and i have spent a couple days scouring the internet and our forums for relevant and credible information.
Please help me out here guys. i do not want to make an error in purchasing something that is very important in protecting my life and giving me a great time.
Also, could some one tell me where i could see/try/buy MT helmets, SOL helmets and the like for a budget of 5k max?
Oh, and also decent gloves for long rides. up to 1000 budget for those.
thanks in advance for all your help!
