Theoretically this could be possible, but practically I don't believe in would translate to much of a difference for the average user, unless maybe when you have a really long ride in a really sunny environment. Saying it would be "unsafe" would be quite a stretch according to me. Even in such a circumstance the difference would be negligible probably.
Tinted visors are a lot better according me anyways, its really hard to use a clear one after using tinted, so you might as well just use that for personal satisfaction, rather than due to any theories of it being unsafe.

The fact that I actually do feel tired after a long ride on a sunny day has more to do with the sun's heat and the fact that I really hold onto my bike with my thighs and not by the arms. Arms are meant for controls and legs for support. But when a expirenced rider says you all this in a convincing manner then you can't argue but take it and "Research" on it later. For a country like India having clear visor is better, so that we won't miss out any potholes on our roads.

And tinted visor will be very hard to use at night, a good UV rated / polarized sunglass with clear visor would be a good idea.

I use iridium tinted visor 24x7.not really an issue.depends on the quality of the visor actually.

I use MT helmet rainbow iridium visor and u can see very clearly if the visor is clear and your headlamps are on. Not an issue at all.

It is not true that sunlight affects you. If sunlight all day is hurting someone's eyes, then the issue is that the person in concern has moved away from normal lifestyle, to a more tech-based one,(NO OFFENSE INTENDED) wherein all his lights would be 6k+, the bluish white lights. However, you should check it yourself whether your eyes are still in normal mode or moved onto the techie mode.

That being said, there are other problems like eye strain (caused by prolonged focussing of eyes to certain distances), blinking stress (caused by not blinking normally) and wind effects (for which our eyes are not originally designed) along with the riding fatigue which might be tiring the eyes, might have been overlooked.

At the end of the day, comfort being a perspective qualitative analysis, try and choose what you want.

i have one question for everyone who reads this thread.

Although i have gained much knowledge about helmets from this thread but there's one question that always intrigues me.

i have seen guys here going for budget friendly helmets like Studds shifter, scorpion, Vega and other ones going for better options like LS2, MT, SOL etc but there's not much available about THH helmets.

for some reason these helmets are not recommended by many guys.

When i personally checked them out at a shop, i really liked the fitting and comfort level. Besides that they had both the DOT and ISI certification.

so i just want to clarify with other guys based on their experience because they seem to be the most suitable option for my budget.

multiple anwers are welcome..

waiting curiously to get this confusion cleared off my mind .

Hi guys. Let me start off by apologizing for any mistakes in the post. I am relatively new. Now that the disclaimer part is out of the way, can someone please tell me where i can get a studds shifter in medium size in pune? Graphics don't matter to me. I have already tried a large size and it is loose enough to warrant a medium-only purchase. No website seems to be carrying it, nor does any brick and mortar shop. Although i did only visit a couple (pro biker and funky's on mg road) due to lack of knowledge of helmet shops in pune. So if someone could direct me to the same it would be a huge help, thanks.
PS: i went through the thread and someone asked the same question. He was directed to aatomato.com but the website doesn't seem to be working. It just wouldn't checkout and now it doesn't seem to be loading. A brick and mortar suggestion would be appreciated.

Even though Studds site shows Medium size for Shifter, it's not available at any shop in Pune. As per Laxmi Auto, JM Rd they don't even manufacture it. Only L size is available at all shops. Better go for Kranos/MT and get the right size. Having a loose fitting helmet is like having no helmet.

I also searched a lot for M size Shifter and finally bought MT Axiss.

Well firstly I personally wouldn't give two shi*s about an ISI mark, not when it comes to helmets at least. Look for ECE/DOT/SHARP always if possible.
As for THH, I'm probably guessing that its not so famous because of other better alternatives like MT Axxis or Studds Shifter and so on. Not too sure though🙈

So, after giving up on the shifter, what would you suggest is my next best option? I don't think I can stretch my budget all the way to afford an axxis.
Also, I was wondering if wearing a balaclava underneath the helmet might help in proper fitting of a size bigger helmet... I mean if I buy a large shifter and wear a balaclava or helmet cap, would it be sufficient? Or will the protection level be diminished?

THH is good brand. But not too popular like LS2 or MT or HJC or any other good international brand. I've checked it at local store.

As it's not too popular, not many buy it as there's not enough enough reviews (short term / long term) on it.

People would want to go for tried and tested helmets with greater positive ratings.

I myself have a MT Blade Alpha. Though earlier I had considered the THH for a while. Just avoid LS2.

Do you think these marks on visor can be reduced? Attaching the pics .

can't really tell how deep the scratches are but in my experience most light to even medium scratches can be removed with patient scrubbing.

Regarding the anti fogging hack, do we have to just apply and wipe the shaving foam or have rinse with water after applying foam :sly:

just wipe off the foam. washing off with water will defeat the purpose.

I got ISI logos cut at vinyl shop and put it on the underside of my AGV helmets. Looks very official.

Had to do it to appease some idiot cop who thinks that only an ISI marked helmet is road worthy.

Just make sure the helmet you buy is well built.

If your budget permits, you can go for Kranos (Rs. 3250). It seems the best bet right now. THH and others are there but don't about the safety aspects of those brands.

As for using balaclava or helmet cap, one of my friend uses Shifter with helmet cap and it didn't improve the fitting at all. Balaclava might give a better fit. If you have one, try the helmet with balaclava at the shop.

If that doesn't work out, go for Kranos. The difference between Shifter and Kranos is around 1K. But you get a perfectly fitting helmet and better quality (IMHO).

Aspida Kranos around 3.2k i guess. DOT and ECE approved and they have plenty of graphics and different designs available.
