    No it doesn't.

For Analogy, try getting into a car. It'll be silent with the windows rolled up and the doors shut. But still one is able to hear the important warning sounds like horns from other vehicles.

To understand just try to make out the difference the sounds while driving / riding in a car with the windows rolled down Vs. driving / riding in a car with the windows rolled up.

Similarly ear plus filters out the stressful / unwanted noises and lets you hear the meaningful sounds.

Gotcha! Thanks! But still, I would refrain from them. Helmets provide enough filtration I think.

Don't just assume, try it first.

Ohk..my bad. Will buy them first thing tomorrow. And try them, however, I do not have high hopes for them.

You won't even be able to listen to the horn. I really use by sense of hearing while riding, it helps me to keep track of nearby vehicles (specially on sides and at back). The rear view mirrors don't really come in handy except for when I need to an absolute left or right turn.

Prateek and Payeng are right - dont carry the assumption with you. I don't use earplugs within the city - but definitely on long distance highway runs. The constant roar of wind at high speed is tiring and the plugs help fight fatigue really well.

Regarding using only your hearing instead of mirrors, thats not a good idea. That means you will be able to react only when the vehicle is close enough to hear it. Personally I prefer a much larger warning distance between me and another vehicle. Nothing beats a clear field of vision IMO.

Are ear plugs from Spartan available in Bangalore, if yes where?

If no, how can I order them?

Hey payeng, ear plugs were available in biking spirit last month where I picked one with the helmet. You can check it once out there.

Well, this is the most satisfactory answer I got on use of ear plugs. Thanks Sunnyside.

                        It is a fantastic product!

But, now it costs 3000 bucks!

I know it is because of the fall in the value of the rupee. But, as the owner himself said, it becomes a little pricey to consider. If someone was considering say the Cramster knee guards at 1.8k, he may have stretched to the earlier 2.5k of the SPG guard. In the other way, someone may now go for a riding pant at 5-5.5k instead of 3k. Depends! I still say it is a fantastic product, but after where it has got caught in the price point, at least for me I know that I'll look at both other outer knee guards and/or the riding pants as I wished to buy the knee guards principally for touring.

Also, two small alarm bells - the owner said he was previously selling them for 2.7k something (the price was 2.5k wasn't it?), and the revised price of 3k has been in effect from the 31st (has it been a month since revision? am sure he didn't say will be revised from 31st as I asked rate to buy today when I was examining it). The alarm is simply because I suspect that said shop quotes much higher prices on some things than the market rate.
The SPG Perseus Knee-Protectors costs Rs.2575/- inclusive VAT. In fact this is one of the products that have not seen a price hike yet since SPG has stock in Chennai. Only apparel prices have been revised so far as new stocks have just landed at the much higher Rupee~Dollar ratio. Send a mail into the HelpDesk ([email protected]) as a query with shop details and then corner the owner with the reply. A complaint will also see the company take action to correct the dealer's overpricing.

More or less similar. They are basically made of same material, and good quality plugs are made of neoprene, or just cheap stepped plastic based ones, but yes, if they are foam based i.e. retain their shape even when they are contorted that's a sign of a good plug. And most ear plugs are good, but the only draw back is it can go missing at the wrong time, my case. But since these come in thermoplastic boxes which are good for portability.

Bottomline, yes they are the same stored the shops you've mentioned above. But go for a plug that is malleable, not rock sold ones, which do the job put causes real pain when inserted for a long time. Go for the foam ones, they are cheap, last long, easy to clean.

                          Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Have a query in gloves. I have been using DSG primal over the last 4 years and have run thru 2 sets by now. Time to pick up my 3rd and i am keen to pick up primal again. Only thing: im now hearing that the dsg quality has deteriorated. Can anybody update if this is indeed true?

Any alternative suggestions? I need full gauntlet leather. Budget is 3k. Was also considering spartan ares.

                            Inputs appreciated. Thanx

Guys I need some help with regards to a new jacket. I previously owned a dsg nero that has been completely damaged after a crash I had.
Now that I have started riding again I wanted some help on getting a nice one. I got a budget of 7-7.5k max.

I had a look at spartan helios and liked it a lot. Any reviews on this would be helpful also I wanted to know if its alright for a jacket to have cordura only on the impact points or is it better for a complete cordura jacket
