re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Technically, you are correct. An all Cordura jacket would be sturdier than a combo as Cordura has higher abrasion resistance than mesh. Actually, leather would offer the best abrasion protection. Real world applications however show that most riders find an all Cordura or even leather jacket extremely uncomfortable in our hot and humid climate and hence are likely to not wear it as much as a highly vented mesh combination and in such case would not have any protection at all in case of a fall when not wearing it due to the heat. Hence the popularity of mesh, which is very comfortable to wear and hence more likely to be worn regularly. In your case, since you have already been using an all Cordura, you may be okay with the lack of breathability and restricted ventilation. If that be the case and you're looking at an upgrade, have a look at the SPG ACHILLES too which is an all Cordura jacket with vents and comes with most of the same features offered by the HELIOS.Originally posted by snehithpereira View Post

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Been using Helios regularly for almost 6 months now. It's very comfortable to ride with and has good breathing space due to it's mesh even during May-June hot weather. The rain lining provides good protection from rain and cold(not tested in winter yet). I bought it for 6,500/- but looks like they upped the price by 300 now and it's 6,799/- on their website.Originally posted by snehithpereira View PostGuys I need some help with regards to a new jacket. I previously owned a dsg nero that has been completely damaged after a crash I had.
Now that I have started riding again I wanted some help on getting a nice one. I got a budget of 7-7.5k max.
I had a look at spartan helios and liked it a lot. Any reviews on this would be helpful also I wanted to know if its alright for a jacket to have cordura only on the impact points or is it better for a complete cordura jacket

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Hello! I'm posting a small review of the Cramster Bionic Knee-pads and Cramster Blaster Street Gloves.
Lets start with the Bionic Knee-pads.
+Its quite comfortable to wear, it just fits my knee perfectly.
+The straps to tighten the knee-pads seem very functional.
+Washing them is simple, the plastic parts can separated from the padding in a jiffy.
+Doesn't make you walk like a Robot :P.
What i dont like:
-The color (florescent/yellow) is not to my liking but i can live with that.
-The plastics are not up to the mark, but cant expect much for that price (Rs. 1800).
-Causes un-necessary stares while worn in public.
-The plastics seem like they scratch the fairing/panels of certain bikes. No problem on naked bikes like my Duke.

Next up the Blaster Gloves
+Good knuckle protection and acceptable finger protection.
+Stitching is good.
+After few days of usage, the glove molds into your palm/hand
+Very breathable
+Can be used to punch irritating people ...Kidding! :P
What i dont like
-Quality isn't top-notch
-The stitching irritates my finger nails inside.
2012 KTM Duke 200 ...Pure Love on two wheels <3

If you are looking for a mesh jacket, Helios is the best choice. Zeus is good too, but its not a mesh jacket. Protection wise, I would vote for Helios, as it has Knox armor.Originally posted by kkamaleshh View PostHelp me out in getting a riding jacket!!! My choices are limited to Helios and Zeus all terrain jacket? Please help me out to select any one of them??

Helios is made of mesh fabric for free ventilation and its basically used as a summer jacket. Of course, there is an inner rainproof liner for rains and for moderate cold conditions. You can check the photos of the jacket and the details of the features in the following link.Originally posted by kkamaleshh View PostWhat's the difference between mesh and non mesh jackets?, thanks for your help

Spartan Pro Gear
Zeus jacket is made of Cordura textile material and it has air vents at specific places only for ventilation. In general, the jacket can withstand moderate drizzle and moderate cold even without the inner liner. Of course, this would make you sweat in city when its hot. Check out the jacket in the following link.

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Both are good boots, and Spring is the easiest, easy to maintain, and has the toe shifter guard. And if I have to wear something for office, I'd definitely go for these boots. But if you consider leather boot with steel toe, then Orazo is the wise choice. I own the Orazo and it's been nothing short of smiles. But again I *won't* recommend them for day to day activities, for which I'd suggest Sprint, excellent stuff.Originally posted by vijeth v View PostI'm looking for a good pair of Riding boots which can be worn casually as well.So far I've come across Orazo and Rjays Sprint which fall within my budget of about 5k.Any other brands within my budget?
Thanks,

There are lots of brands such as JCB, Cat etc etc, the same stuff as Orazo but even a little less priced than Orazo, just google JCB Boots India.
Cheers!

The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I have just bought my Helios a week back. Didn't get a chance to ride with liner in heavy rains. But, as I have heard from other Helios users, its rain-resistant. In heavy rains for longer hours, any riding jacket will have seepage from neck area and zippers. For complete waterproof in heavy rains for long hours, a rain jacket like duckback is the only solution.Originally posted by kkamaleshh View PostRavi thanks for your detailed information. or you can go icarus, helious is partial leather, and leather is hard to maintain, at least in my opinion.Originally posted by kkamaleshh View PostRavi thanks for your detailed information. Going for Helios. One last doubt wether Helios is rain proof?

Helios doesn't have leather, It's the hypreion that has leather.
And even in hyperion the leather doesn't need much maintenance.
The icarus is a entry level jacket , the armor is not all that great when compared to the ones helios and hyperion offers. Doesn't mean the icarus has poor protection potential.
If you are on a budget get the icarus, VFM wise, that's the best you can have on a budget.
Cheers
