re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
In search of knee guards for my daily office commute. Didn't find the SPG/cramster knee guards to be promising. Tried knox, found it too long and it interrupts with riding boots. Tired A* knee guards as well, but the coverage/fit doesn't justify the price. Was interested in Thor force, however the only dealer SPG hasn't got any clues about when it would be in stock again.
Upon some research found a dianese oak knee guard on sbkstore.in which looks quite promising. Any ownership experience reports from here?
oak knee guard hard long evo - Dainese
Also looking for other options in the market which offers both knee and shin protection. Budget in the range of 7-10k. Preferably something which can be worn inside the pants. Relevant suggestions would be appreciated.

Needed to know the review on Alpinestar jackets. The ones in the range of 15-17K. Am getting few options at sbkstore.in. Wanted to know if they are worth it? I ride a RC390 and this would be my first ever riding jacket. Need an all season jacket with protection. So is it worth to invest in the brand like Aplinestars or go for DSG/Cramster/Rynox etc? There is no better therapy than riding a bike down a straight road at full throttle with the sound of the engine for company.

Are they reliable ?
The product spectrum is mighty impressive.
Bikegear.in is like SBKstore.in. They maintain no stocks. They require you to pay in advance to place an order and most products will be delivered after two weeks or longer. They essentially order the products online from different international sources, and get the product for you. A hefty premium is charged for this service, so if you have access to online ordering, you can save quite a bit by doing it yourself. Products that take less time to deliver are typically sold by Indian distributors too and the ones not available in India are sourced from online resellers.

Arm sleeves are for the ones who don't care about safety and just want to cover their arms from Sunlight. Get a proper riding jacket which will cover your arms and provide you with safety from a fall / abrasions as well.Originally posted by Sahil.ns View PostHey guys need a quick help. Aha. Would you be able to help with 'importing' stuff then ? Or, without any considerable contacts, I would have to use one of these online stores. Yes they charge premimum, especially sbkstore.in. bikegear.in guys seem a little more reasonable.Originally posted by Sunnyside_up! View PostBikegear.in is like SBKstore.in. They maintain no stocks. I buy my gear in India or when I travel abroad, since I like to try before I buy. To buy online you only need a valid credit card. If the minimum purchase required is more than what you need, ask around and club orders with friends. Remember that one of the risks that you incur with buying from abroad is zero/tricky after sales/warranty service.

Avoid Nero altogether for hot weather. Go for Helios if budget permits.Originally posted by rrnarayan View PostReposting again.....

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Hi friends,
Am looking for a jacket mainly for the heat and rain in Bangalore wid the added protection.
I have a budget of around 5k.
Could anyone suggest of which jacket to buy and from where.(online / offline).
Have heard about the let's gear up store in hsr. No other idea about other shops.
The jacket should have enough mesh so as to replace my leather jacket which is unbearable in heat.

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
So I have been contemplating and procrastinating but it is high time I got myself a pair of boots for riding around the town and those occasional 200-300kms ride out of it, involving speeds that can damage the human anatomy beyond repair.
I have gone through the headache of checking the online reviews of hundreds of boots and I have shortlisted a couple that are available in India. Also, let me make it clear, I am looking for boots from reputed brands as the most damage during a low side is often to the foot.
1. A*s SMX3 - Half cut full size boots with good protection for lower foot and a little for the shin. Priced at around 15K. As per reviews, is comfortable to walk around, provides decent protection though it is not very stiff and performs decently in little bit of rain or heat. Would have to wear them to the office so has to be as discrete as possible but the ratchet system, if not covered by my trousers, would be shouting out for attention. CE rated is all I see in the spec sheet and no more details.
2. Dainese TR Course IN - Offers much more protection, obviously. Rossi wears Dainese
IN design goes in pants with no issue. The lower part of the boot is less gaudy than the A*s. Quality is absolute top notch. But the main feature that has made it reach my final 2, in spite of its astronomical price tag, is the D axial system that saves the feet from hyper extension and thus, most probably, might protect from one of the worst possible foot injury, achilles. The price is in an altogether different zone at 24K. Let me be very clear that this purchase would make me feel like a cat in an open field in torrential rains for a few months to come. I am wondering if this would be an overkill for my use ? Or is it worth spending the fortune as a riding boot is a long time buy for safety, at least I think it is a one time buy for at least half a decade or so unless something gives.
Please suggest fellow riders. I would also be fine with any other reputed international brands that would provide with protection as well. Thanks in advance.

You are basically looking for a mesh jacket that is water proof and priced below 5K.Originally posted by nikzcool View PostHi friends,

DSG Evo is an option if you are fine with the hassle of a rain liner. BTW, also comes with a thermal liner. http://www.planetdsg.com/dsg-evo-jacket-p-1878.html
You want it from a store, which is a good idea. Orion motors used to stock the DSGs and maybe still do. Give them a call.
LGU also store good stuff. They have dsgs and SPGs I believe. They also have a riding hoody, meant for city. This is supposedly good for heat, very light weight, provides with decent protection for slow city rides and priced at around 4.3K if I can recall.Last edited by Sourjya Guha; 04-22-2015, 05:02 PM.

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
For rains I would suggest not to rely on the inner liners, but to go for good quality rain wears in extra large size( so that it can go over your jackets and pants). I have been using this setup and find it better compared to using the rain liners provided with my jacket. I got my rain wears made by Quenchua from Decathlon. As for jackets, you can go for Aspida Icarus or DSG Evo, both of which seem good.Originally posted by nikzcool View PostHi friends,

Check out the TCX RS 2 Evo boots if you are looking at around 7-8 years of durability. Sidi Vertigo is also an option and will be considerably less pricey than TCX. Longevity is better with TCX though.Originally posted by Sourjya Guha View PostSo I have been contemplating and procrastinating but it is high time I got myself a pair of boots for riding around the town and those occasional 200-300kms ride out of it, involving speeds that can damage the human anatomy beyond repair.

Great boots but I don't think I can put either of those inside my trousers and go to my work place comfortably. Not discrete enough.Originally posted by Deathmate.Zed View PostCheck out the TCX RS 2 Evo boots if you are looking at around 7-8 years of durability.
