I have compared both the bikes (K&N filter and stock filter)
My 0-60 performance is surely increased
coz i did race with 2 different riders and result of my bike is good.
Bt i have another question ?
Is it really worth to install K&N and doing upjetting
coz evreyone is here saying stick with stock air filters and K&N will not increase noticebale performance.
i just want your opinion...

Viscous air filter is sponge like filter with oil in it,So it filters air in a very good manner than paper filter.Originally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostCan anyone tell me whats a viscous air filter? All i know is it started coming in the 08 unicorn onwards and it needs lesser maintenance. Will it fit in the first gen unicorn? and is there better smoothness or power in it? and also give me the price if anyone knows. Thanks
Like this:

But Viscous filter attracts more dirt so may clog and reduce air flow,so clean it at regular intervals.

Might I make a suggestion. Get a pair of earplugs, find someplace empty where's bound to be no vehicles around, preferably an open space. Wear those earplugs under your helmet and try riding the two bikes back to back.Originally posted by BlazingFire View Postok ROCKRZ
my frnd have the same UG-4 model just 3 month old so, i will compare with that model and i will see what is the result.
i know the result will depend upon the rider and his riding style bt i dnt have another option.
I know it's not sound science, but it will give you a feel of each bike's performances without their accompanying sounds.

but since most of us upgrade when the bike is not performing well, even a slight increase feels a lot.. its mostly psychological...
if you do want to test, compare it with a similar pulser which has a new carb and a new filter. but a lot depends on the rider than the bike hence te results can be easily misleading...

Then how would i come to know there is chage in power or not
Should l check the 0-60 performance with another pulsar 180 ?

thanks for suggestion AneeshYeah, mostly it is psychological thing.Originally posted by maraque View PostIt's more likely psychological rather than an actual increase in performance. The induction sound while accelerating will give you the feeling that it is accelerating faster.

But i can notice.........0-60 performance is surely increased...Originally posted by Aneesh@4GHz View PostAsk the mechanic about the jets and make sure that you are not cheated.
Changing the jets will surely reduce mileage and also K&N wont increase the power, even with correct jet sizes, there may be an increase of 0.3 to 0.5hp max and it is unnoticeable in real life condition,So i would say always stick to stock filter for the bikes best performance.

Ask the mechanic about the jets and make sure that you are not cheated.Originally posted by BlazingFire View Postare i dnt know the exact jet size.
While installing the K&N......mechanic told me, he used larger jet.
i am also confused why is the top end reduced..... i cant go above 118.
