Re: A practice of draining oil through the Air Filters
Thanx buddyOriginally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostAlmost all three are the same except for the colors, one is red, one is green and one is blue except for the fancy colors. Most after market airfilters are cotton gauze and do their job pretty well. SUCK more air, and they are very good at that.
R15 has a plug and play filter from K&N which can be used, and it definitely will give you good throaty grown and tad improved low end, very hard to notice, but being a revvy engine it is, it will like the FFAF. But stock is more than enough in most cases, unless you're into racing or something. All you get is some bumped up sound and that's about it.
Cheers!

Well i really wanted the sound also to improve since i think that r15 is a bit silent bike

Yeah bro it is goodOriginally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostIsn't the performance of r15 good enough?

Hmm...thnx broOriginally posted by armskhatri View PostK&N is fine.. Pipercross is also good, but as for R15, trust me it'll definitely improve your performance, but affect your mileage (atleast 4-7kmpl), and simultaneously affect your engine! So before installing anything, just think about it!

Re: A practice of draining oil through the Air Filters
Yes, FZ is indeed paper element. And don't forget paper filters are cheap too, as opposed to oiled foam.Originally posted by atuladeupes View PostFor knowing more about filter elements you can read the any good automobile manual available.
In FZ manual dry filter element means paper element. You can check if you open FZ air filter you can find out pleated paper filer moulded in plastic.
Paper element are basically used in cars for there better filtration efficiency than foam elements.

For knowing more about filter elements you can read the any good automobile manual available.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostHow many KMS depends on the usage of the bike. Riding in good conditions even for 1000 KMS wouldn't affect the AF as much, it's pretty much as your lungs, you go in a dusty situation you sneeze, you cough you get all sort of things, and vice versa.
An adequate figure which I maintain is 500 KMS strict! No matter what when trips are brought into the equation, else I always maintain a 500 to 700 KM strict filter cleaning interval. But mind you for a filter to get clogged so much so that the engine couldn't breathe must be a vehicle that is revived from junk.
Most modern engines are pretty efficient and do their best to breathe free, it's when they are clogged beyond their threshold they start giving trouble.
In my 4 years of ownership of my bike, the air filter choke was lit only once and it was gone the very next moment I cleaned the filter.
atuladeep, dry means not really paper they are cotton and felt of certain kind that are used to trap the dirt. Cars use paper filters and they are used primarily because they last long than conventional oil dipped foam.

hmmmm ....... Ok sir, as per your words thenOriginally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostFor now, I'd suggest you stick with the stock viscous filter, which is more than enough for the best of both worlds. Considering your bike's CC, don't stress her, let her be happy and peppy.

I am neither expecting any huge improvement nor want a sudden increase in anything from my 125 cc baby Honda. I just only have a wish to experience the feel of an aftermarket AF
if affordable.

I appreciate
............. the only thing now I am asking here on the thread is to suggest me an aftermarket AF model number from my fellow xBhp-ians for my Stunner which can fit directly without any mods

Re: Air Filters - Universal Thread
Red Green or Blue, K&N, GREEN or SIMOTA unless it's a direct fit or close don't go for it. Moreover most don't know this fact. Using a filter in a sub 150 cc bike is more or less useless not completely though. Except for the grunt and a very very slight noticeable improvement in performance which is almost as hard to notice when riding normally.Originally posted by xpranav View PostI will be changing my stock air filter by next service ........... and I have come across good reviews about K&N filters , but the problem is I cannot find one suitable to fit in my bike .......... kindly help me count options/model number
If one is planning to alter their filter box or using the filter as a stressed member inside any compartment that doesn't suit the filter you're using, then I wouldn't recommend anyone to do that. It's 100% waste of money, time and worse... ruining your bike's components.
Cheers!
