Hey, I am fully assured that I'm getting more than 45 km/l. Let's leave off the latest figures I have told just before. If I am calculating form ODO zero and I have filled 16 litres of petro till now then my mileage till now is (644-15)/14.6 = 43.08

No bike will you give you correct mileage from zero reading, so surely my mileage is above 45km/l. No doubt and I don't have any regrets about my statement.

Went to both showrooms......test drove both......
and I just fell in love with the APACHE RTR..

The show room guys tell, that me being a city traveler, will not find much difference between the rtr 180 and 160..!
The rtr 160 gives more average also (upto 50)...!
again my friends told that the red beast( rtr 160) seemed so perfect with me..!

I rode rtr 160......guys...believe it or not....TVS really refined the whole package...

went to the Yamaha showroom and drove the fz-s.....but i could only sit lifeless on the fz.....because I've left my heart on the RTR...

SO.....I THINK...FINALLY,ITS DECIDED.......THE TVS APACHE RTR 160 WILL SOON BE MINE...

Friends,fz is totally a good bike...if someone really want to show off in style and cruise efforlessly, simply go for fz...
but,for someone like me...if you like revving up and getting scarily fast (within a budget of 80k)....select rtr...mileage also, comparatively more....

THANK YOU ONE AND ALL.....I'LL POST THE NEW PICS. AND VIDEOS WHEN I GET MY BEAST..........

Coming to the point, newer FZs give more mileage compared to the older ones because Yamaha has reduced the torque figures for the new model. You can check this out for yourself comparing the old and new owner manuals.
So when a person says that the new batch isn't as powerful as the old ones, he's right.

If the older FZ gave 35 kmpl, new ones shall deliver ~40 under similar riding conditions.

@jonahmano - Suggest you to revert back with mileage figures based on the full tank to full tank method. Do it a couple of times and take average. It'd be helpful in the discussion. It may take time, but then it'll end the speculation and bashing for good.

Actually the green-black and yellow-black schemes don't look that bad when seen in flesh. Is white available for the 160? I don't think so.

If kept well and maintained well, any bike can last you a lifetime! Anyways, congrats Nithyan for making a good decision. It was tough but you listened to your heart and you won't be disappointed.

@jonahmano : common man...even if my (would be) beast last a year only...
i'll go for it only....told you na? I test drove both...and really fell in love with the RTR...
its just my personal view.....and frankly bro,I intend to keep it around 5 years.....will go for some 250 cc at that time..

@enthusiastic : "Divya Sharan" is right....apache 160 comes only in green, red, yellow and grey...
looks are subjective...i posed for some photos on all the different colours.
Everyone told that red-black combination suits me well..
just dont imagine the colour right away...it really look good in real and even better, when I'm on it !!!

My friend Is riding his Apache 150 sinse last 5 years(that too second hand).
I still have my 6 years old TVS star city(now my brother is riding) and neary 90K kms old,in perfect condition.
My RTR 180 is almost 3 years and 37K kms old.
Its all about how you maintain your bike mate.It may not be like Honda(where you can forget to do a servicing, and still it doesnt matter). But if you love your bike, and take a little care,it would never ever dissapiont you.....

Fiero F2 was my favorite bike. It was TVS product. The main reason I was fed up with TVS product was they do disappear not only their products but also their parts very soon. 20 year old RX parts can still be gotten like peanuts.

Before buying new FZ, I almost fixed a well maintained 3 year old Apache RTR 160 for 40k but after riding that and my FZ, I understood why should pay a premium for a lower power 153cc Yamaha Motor because Dono meni Zameen Aasmaan Ka Pharak Hain

I agree with you bro, only after riding the FZ16 I understood how a bike should be. Until the day before testing the FZ, I was under the impression that Bajaj and TVS are able to give more value for money, but the fact is all those values are only on paper. One road the FZ is hard to chase in terms of satisfaction.

I own a Apache 150 from 2007 to till date, Runs 55-60Kmpl. I don't remember spending anything on spares at all, only oil change and regular svc every 5-6K Kms. Ran about 50K Kms. On contrast I too own an R15 from 2009 ran 40K kms, 40-45Kmpl, services done every 4K Kms and spent on spares too. Reading the above sentence you may think the A150 is better, but on reality there is nothing that can be compared to the quality of the ride that an R15 can offer. Same applies to FZ as well.

I always like to ride my R15.....Hopefully we get more bikes like Pulsar 200NS and pack off these old rides.

I mean the yellow-black didn't look good to me but the green-black looks attractive in flesh. And sorry I remember A180 so the white

I partially agree with you bro. actually what we are talking about is refinement and smooth engine. Thankfully P200NS is there. But having ridden almost all bikes till 250cc (barring the stunning Ninja250R ) I can say that P220 is alot fun to drive. Also the older P200 was good. I have driven P220DTSFi and it was total fun. That kind of fun I experienced only when I rode CBR250R and R15. Apart from P200NS and P220 the other bikes (from B + T stable) are well mediocre. Bajaj is on some good path and happy to see the new products. Even Disco ST has thankfully a refined engine unlike other B+T products (barring NS). Hopefully a technical collaboration with BMW might change TVS fortunes. PLS no brand wars now guys. Be happy with what you have and what you like

Hi guys.....I've shortlisted the APACHE anyway...but there is one more thing left unanswered.
The showroom guys told me that the RTR180 costs 82.5k(apprx) and RTR160 costs 76.5k (apprx)...
and the rtr 160 doesnot have tubeless tires or rear disc break...and I heard some of you guys telling that rtr 160 gives only a marginal increase in mileage.
I'm TOTALLY A CITY RIDER (DAILY ONLY 20 KMS)...
SO...is it worth saving 6000 rupees by choosing the rtr 160.

The showroom guy suggested me the rtr160,explaining that the true worth in rtr 180 can be seen if rode in a highway...he tells that in a city ride, both of them perform almost alike !!!

forget about the different colour schemes in 180 and 160...please answer in terms of performance in city, worth for money and the mileage factor.....

Doesn't matter even if you shell out few 7ks, I think you should go for Apache RTR 180 because these TVS guys can't be relied upon. Just the way disappeared Apache 150, surely they will also disappear your RTR 160 and then you will have to run from place to another in the want of parts. Don't try to save money. If you buy RTR 180, atleast you will some peace of mind.

so that means you are getting
                            a. rear discs

                            in 6-7 k. WOW.. Go for 180.

Anyone want to take 7000 bucks and put a rear disc on my fazer.. Please come forward.

Completely wrong perception. Products just don't vanish overnight.
Spares for Apache 150/Fiero/Fiero FX are still available.
There won't be any problem for you. And remember, RTR is the flagship product for TVS, 160 or 180; spares will be available.
                              You can go for either!

20cc won't make a lot of difference in CITY rides IMO. The TS is clear that he'll be riding mostly in city.
                              1. 180 cc - true, its full potential comes on the highway. 160 is almost the same in city.
                              2. Rear discs - rarely used. Drums are almost as good because we rarely use the rear brake.
                              3. TL tires - One strong point in favor of 180.

But, if you have the money, please go for 180. Who knows you'd be hitting the highway tomorrow!
