• Looking for ideal ROYAL ENFIELD.

Hey friends i am new to this community and this is my first ever post.As a diehard fan of bikes as well as cars.As i love cruising new destinations Heart always throbs for ROYAL ENFIELD.since many years i had dreamt to own it one day,now the wait is over.
WHY ROYAL ENFIELD?
everyone know what the RE bikes about.I love it only and only for its old school charm and exclusivity.
MY DILEMMA
I want to choose between
RE THUNDERBIRD 350
RE CLASSIC 350
As i had talk with the dealer, the waiting period for the classic concerns me.
please suggest me to choose one as i would be booking in coming week.

Both the TB350 and the CL350 are good bikes. There really isn't much to choose between them based on technical specifications as they are basically the same under the skin.

Go for the Thunderbird if you have a more relaxed style of riding and want (a little additional) comfort from the laid-back seating position. Choose the Classic if you want a more retro look and (slightly) better control on twisty roads. Though some people feel that the Thunderbird is a handful in traffic, I personally don't find it so. If you're on the shorter side you might also find the Thunderbird more comfortable (although I've seen guys about 5'5" also handling CLs without problems).

RE dealers are quite helpful and are willing to allow longer test rides if you need to make up your mind (and convince them that you're a serious customer and not out for a joyride). Take a decent 5-10km ride on both the models (not just once around the block) to see where your heart lies.

First and Foremost, Congrats on your decision. But I hope you are well aware of the niggles present in RE. Hope your friends / relatives must have given enough gyan about it. If you are able to live up with the vibes, then it should be an easy decision.

To me, I am more of a city commuter than a highway rider. So CL was my decision from initial stand point. So choose what is going to be your priority. If highway crusing is your kind of style, go for TB (I never tried driving a TB in city traffic, since i am not much fond of the butterfly handlebar and the seating position), CL is a good city commuter. Any RE will love to be driven anything less than 80 kmph. Dont even try to race any bikes of the line, it will hurt you even bad.

Btw..what was the waiting period quoted for a CL, I luckily got mine in 2.5 months time as the person who had booked before me failed to make the payment and the bike was alloted to me.
Now with the new plant operational in chennai, waiting period should not be more than 3 months for CL350.

Firstly thank you guys for your valuable advise,
We had been to a dealer at SR MOTORS ULHASNAGAR,sales rep atitude was not upto the mark.He quoted 6-7 months for classic and 3 months for thunderbird, the most digusting factor which we found was that when we asked for test ride, he said we were supposed to book it first then and then only test ride would be alloted. What the hell wrong with him.Is there any system like that?As soon as we were out of the showroom we decided that we would be booking with some other dealer.Really terrible, they dont value potential buyers.Coming SUNDAY would be going soniya motors THANE for ride as well as booking.

I guess it differs from dealer to dealer. When I was trying to decide which bike I wanted (it was always gonna be a RE, just hadn't finalized on the model) I wasn't sure whether to go in for the Classic or the Thunderbird. I was provided long rides on both the Classic 350 and the Thunderbird 500. I even test rode the Conti GT and without my asking, the sales rep offered to give it for a long ride. In his words "Sir, take it for a long ride. You need to ride it for 40-50 km to appreciate it. Just fill petrol before returning it."

FWIW the dealer was Kings Autoriders, Pune.

From an engine point of view both are the same bike. Looks and feature wise both are poles apart. Classic is more old school and Thunderbird comes with a more relaxed riding position and with many important features that are not available in classic like an rpm, odo meter, rear disk break etc.
I honestly don't want to point out one bike for you as it should depend on your taste and likes. No matter which one you choose, you won't go wrong.

On the side note the waiting period has drastically reduced. In Kolkata its 10-15 days for classic and about 20 days for Thunderbird. If you are opting for the ash coloured classic the waiting period is around a month here.

Hello everyone,

I am from Kolkata, i live near the airport, and the nearest showroom is Kolkata Bike Zone on VIP Road

I went there yesterday to book the DS 500

This is the chart that was shown in the showroom

I already booked the DS 500 , 5000/- , delivery days estimated at 30 days. They said full amount is refundable thats why i went ahead.

Want to know if this is the correct price. Rs. 1,91,169

Also, is there any guide for a new buyer buying a bike ?

Do checkout different dealers, as the price though is 2k cheaper than Austin Motors, but they are providing the bike in 15 days.
