I bought a RE C500 Chrome last month and man it has been the best purchase of my life! The new engine is smooth, all old traditional Bullet cranks have been fixed, torque makes u feel like u on a heavy muscle bike and of course the ALL STEEL quality really sets it apart from modern day plastic and fibreglass bikes.
They could do with better tyres because Zappers grip is appalling on wet and rural roads but It is not that bad and should not affect your judgement about this marvel of engineering.
Did you know that the new Twinspark engine was designed in Italy by famous Engines Engineering and the new Electronic Fuel Injection system is made by Keihin, Japan ? So you are getting a rare combo of best and latest in global motoring tech on a reliable, Chennai made, handcrafted, Classic of a bike!
I have driven 1300 kms with not a single issue, gives an average of 30-32 kmpl and even at 80 kmph ( can't do over 80 kmph before it hits 2000 kms on the meter) it is a smooth monster.
You will not regret this purchase ! All the best !
Peace

PS : Asunil test ride a C500, you may change your mind about buying a 350! Just saying !

Thanks for the note Citizen Singh! The reasons I'm looking for a 350 are:
1. it is primarily for city commute and the traffic is bumper to bumper in bangalore!
2. Price factors: a difference of almost 40k.
3. Mileage: about 10kmpl difference. I know owning a n RE is bigger but I'm watching my pocket too!

I'm kinda leaning towards the bullet 350 or electra 350. What is your opinion?

Hello Asunil ! I would suggest Classic 350 if your budget is for a 350.
As you may know the three are identical bikes as far as power goes but in addition to styling Classic 350 beats Electra and certainly Bullet 350 :-

1.) The tyres are much bigger in Classic 350 for starters as compared to Electra and Bullet 350
2.) The halogen lamp is 60w/55w in Classic 350 as compared to 35/35 in Electra and Bullet 350.
3) Classic 350 has Disc Brakes in front and so does Electra but only Drum in Bullet 350
4) Same with Electric start -none in Bullet 350

So you see , Classic 350 a class apart from Electra or Bullet 350. And if your budget is for Electra or Bullet 350, Electra is clearly the winner !

Hope advice helps and let me know how it goes !

Happy shopping !
Peace

All these days I was lusting for CL500 Desertstorm but after looking at the new DS500 I am disappointed as it lacks the old world charm of a typical bullet like the bolts on either side of the tank and L shaped forks. The new CL500s come with a straight forks just like any other ordinary bike. I think I might just have to settle for a CL350.

First they did this to Bullet500 and now CL500s I am just wondering whats the reason behind this. Slowly REs are deviating away from the good old bullet.

Owning a bull has been in my dreams for a while and i booked a 350 CL two months back. A week back i had a chance to ride a CL500 EFI and totally fell in love with it. But sadly, i did not have the budget for a new CL500 and started hunting for a used one. Finally i did find a 2013 april CL500 DS which has cloaked 12k km and the owner is asking 1.20 lakh as the final price. On doing some research, i found horrible stories of fuel pump failure, sprag clutch issue, open loop, missing lambada senson etc etc. Guys please advice me. should i go for the used ds or new cl350. Is the EFI system prone to failure? I can't afford to spend 13K on new fuel pump. Also is the asking price is OK for the DS?

Just my opinion bro.. Have booked my TB350, had a great wish of getting a 500 one but here too same money constraint. One thing I felt is each new bullet is almost like a dragon but a little one. That has to be trained by the rider and it should live the whole life with you. May be dramatic but I see people who rides cast iron old diesel bullets, for any cost they are not even ready to speak about it.

Sorry if I am wrong and outdated. Last two weeks of my waiting period

You are right bro. But either way i am gonna miss some thing. I shouldn't have test rode the 500 😔. If i buy a new 350, i am sure i will regret for not owning cl500. More over my place is flooded with black and silver CL350 and soon they will outnumber pulser's and fz's. I am tempted towards buying 500, but my primary concern is the efi system of cl500. Also if i convert it to carb using std500 parts incase of a failure, will i get the same mileage of efi?

My comment will give you lot of relief. Few points below:
1. If you want 500 and afraid of EFI failure then you can go for STD500.

2. If your inclined towards Classic 500 only then: The EFI is prone to failure and I have seen few cases of fuel pump getting kaput at very early stage and it cost a bomb.. 12K. But good news, you can get it converted to carb if it fails and the carb conversion is plug and play. Changing to carb will not effect the performance and it will remain all same, not only that the FE will improve as well and I have met people who are getting 32-34 in city (Bangalore) from their 500 after the conversion. Now if you have read till here you must be surely elated but for sure must be doubting the credibility of my statements. Let me tell you I am not shooting in air, Greasehouse Indimortad is very famous in Bangalore and they are highly skilled and professional bunch og people and their main man Prashanth happen to be a racer as well, they have developed this carb conversion kit along with the TCI unit and TPS as well and 100s of users have converted their EFI to carb and they are very happy and whomsoever I have met they had no complaints. They courier all over India and I guess the whole kit costs around 6.5-7K something, you can check on that. Let me know if you need more info.

How much are DS and TB500 able to cruise at on the highway? I once rode CL350 at 100, and my hands were buzzing for the next half n hour due to the shaking of handlebars. Is the situation same with 500ccs?

Thanks for the info. I am greatly relieved now and going ahead with cl500. Bangalore is 400km from my place. I think i can straight away ride to bangalore and do the conversion from there itself. Could you please pm me the contact number of indimotard if available?
