Ok, so a cousin of mine that owns a Classic Electra had told me that the New REs with Fuel Injection are a failure. They have tons of issues and are nothing like the Bullet 350,Electra or the 500. . . How many agree to this statement? Should one stick simply to the Carburetor Enfields?

I visit the showroom today, Saw Continental GT ( GOD DAMN THAT GREEN COLOR HAD ME HEAD OVER HEELS! LOVE IT but the fact that i can only have either single or double seat makes me sad, I love the seat cowl too! but want pillion capabilities as well) .... Saw Classic Squadron Blue ( Sit on it and you sit on a throne, the road is your peasant and you are the king, Also a very nice colour, but I wish it had Rear disk brakes). . . Then comes Himalyan ( BOY THAT BIKE FEELS BIG, but has MUCH better build quality i'd say. Glad it had front and Rear disk brakes) .. . .

Im 23 years old. . . Soon to have a permanent Pillion. . . What should I Buy for Leisurely purposes?
Being on two wheels is being liberated. The vastness one feels being under the open sky. The whole feeling. . . cant be described.

    Ride safe, Ride long.

              Hi Guys,

It's me again, after a long wait of 2 months and 10 days I finally got my black baby today. And I already have couple of questions to guys

              So this how it went,
Got a call from showroom yesterday morning they planned to register the bike today [Thursday] I went and submitted the papers when I asked to show me the bike they refused first. Later 1 guy came and told your bike is in downstairs you can see but you cannot do any checks. So I just saw and came back to home.
Today around 5PM I went and they completed the registration I had a full PDI check list but could not able to do all the checks as Im out of time.
Service guy informed about all the parts and done the paper works.
Quickly checked the paint job, silencer, electric works, indicator, headlamps, and front forks. everything seems fine and took it home.

              My question:
              1) I have planned a trip this weekend. It a 200KM one side, so it will cover around 400-450 kms up and down. Shall we take the bike for long trip immediately after purchasing?
If yes do I need to take any extra care? like have to cool the engine after few kms? checking the engine heat? etc...

              2) What is the idle RPM limit. Once I start my bike the needle goes to 1000rpm, and while one 2nd gear its going upto 3500rpm. Is it normal?

              Your suggestions are welcome!

              Thanks!!!

Hi Darshangowda, I do not have any idea about Classic/Std 350. I took test ride on TB & Classic, but I not even enquired about classic price at all. My heart always said go for Thunderbird, go for Thunderbird. And I followed it, I'm giving you the same idea, take a test ride and you will come to know what you need...

Dont go for a long drives. For first 1500 kms care your bike like a baby. If u go for long drives or above 60 kmph speed. There is a chance to worst engine noise in feauture

With the 350cc RE's the cruising speeds without stressing the engine is 70-80kmph.

They are same mechanically (same engine, carb etc)but physically they are different.ie.the seat height, wheelbase, tyre size seating position are different.test drive both to see which one fits you better.

Hi Guys, Its me again with pain

I do went for the trip I asked earlier with speed limit of 50-65 and RPM < 3000. At the end of the trip I noticed few problems,

I'm going to service center in couple of days so your suggestions will be helpful to inform those guys and get the things rectified.

                            1. Got severe pain in right shoulder after 10-30 minutes of driving. Later identified something wrong with handlebar/front fork. Bike dragging to the right side if we take out the hands. I hope some dumb sales person in the showroom did this.
Later on the same day I drove my frnd TBTS for couple of mins and dragging problem was not there.

                            2. Severe left leg knee pain. Couple of guys told because of problem #1 I'm facing leg pain aswell. Is that so? else what could it be? foot rest problem ?? any solutions

                            3. !!! BUTT !!! - Initially my pillion screamed butt paining, later me too joined. I hope TBTS have a comfortable seat and riding position that is the only reason I had took this bike. But why me and pillion getting pain in our butts? I hope new bike will not have brittle seat, so what could be the possible prob? Do i need to change the seats?

If you guys confirm what are these problems/solutions it will be helpful for me to shout at the service guys.

                              For Points No.1 and 2.
No bike should pull to one side. It has got to be an alignment issue or something similar.
Left knee pain, cant explain, best guess would be; is that the leg you tend to put much load on while the bike is stationery? (New RE bike+pillion. is a heavy scenario to get used to, that May be the cause of pain)

                              Point no.3
I have heard this from all RE owners, the posture is good but The seats are not as soft as some people may like it to be. My friend has a CL350 and his pillion too complained, he got both his seats re-fit to 'Perfect Seats'. I hear they are THE BEST SOLUTION for RE. I have a TBTS and (TBTS pillion seat is slightly smaller than other REs) my pillion complains about it too. (In my case, pillion was not taken on the bike any longer, we have an Activa for that purpose )

Coming to the last point. Dont Shout at RE techs. This never works as they are least concerned about the getting the job done anyways. The best approach would be, call/visit the showroom. Get friendly with the topmost guy out there, explain the issues to him, ask him to call the service centre and let them know You will be going there, have them assign the bike to a senior Tech.

This process seems time consuming, but trust me, there have been so many people shouting at their RE service centres and yet nothing happens.

I bought my RE in a completely new state where i knew no one. And i was too apprehensive about the first service. The vehicle allotment guy was friendly (also because i had called in too many times during the waiting period) and he called the ASC nearer to me and gave them reference. They did a good job on the first as well as second service now and everything has been good. I too had a few issues to be taken care of soon after delivery, one of them like yours was related to steering, mine didnt pull to one side, but it was too stiff at the extreme turning points. But all issues are checked now. No downtime.

Thanks Rugved for pointing out the issue and info on RE techs. Good you have activa still, I sold my old bike after I got my thunderbird. Now I miss my old bike for short rides

I feel left knee pain only while riding the bike for more than 20 minutes, no issues when i keep the bike in stationary.
Can you confirm what are those 'Perfect seats'? How can i re fit in my bike? Do i need to change the seat completely, Also how much it will cost ?

Right from the beginning I had a thought like i booked my bike in wrong showroom, even the senior guy i.e. manager of the showroom is also not friendly. I choose this showroom because it is near to my home, but later i realised their bad nature. Even lot of guys complaint about them in google reviews as well.

I checked with the service person and he asked to bring the bike for first service by tomorrow. I thought to go to service center and ask them to check the issues, but after your advice I'm thinking to go the showroom first and then I'll go to the service center. Hoping some senior guy will attend my bike.

Will post my experience again in couple of days.
