Re: Choosing a Royal Enfield? Ask here...
Hey guys!
Just wanted a feedback of the RE Service Centres in Mumbai!
How's the RE Service Centre in Andheri East?
Are they good?
Or any other SC which is safe to give my beast!
I've heard the one in Mahim is bad!
Mumbaikar Enfielders...what do you have to say about that?
Btw..I ride a Himalayan...

really unsure what it is you want to do. the best guess is you can look for someone in need of money and buy their bike, if thats what you want.Originally posted by Ri$hi View PostI want to buy a Royal Enfield but I do not want my money to go to a multi millionaire company, instead I want my money to go to a poor person and help him in running his livelihood so what do I do?

Re: Choosing a Royal Enfield? Ask here...
I own a classic 350 and till now it has not given me any pain . no complaints other than some tappet noise which can be removed but i havent got the time. Well everybody has there opinions and my opinion is if the need is for a bike which you can use in city, weekend rides, long rides and even ride to the himalayas you may like royal enfield . The feel may be different from the other jap bikes maybe because its hailing from great brit and most of the bikes produced in the era was loke this . triumph and norton may have changed but the royal enfield hasnt so thats how the bike should be if you are looking for the bullets and classics and cafe racers.

Re: Choosing a Royal Enfield? Ask here...
I'm 5'9 so any of these three shouldn't be a problem to ride right? Classic/bullet/Electra? Or should I get the classic has it has a smaller wheel base?
Also, does anyone know how the aftermarket electric start on the bullet 350 is? Does it work well? Or is it not worth the effort and I should just get a Electra instead? I'm OK with the bullet 350 since it has a heavier crank, which makes it easy to ride in traffic( no frequent gear shifts, and I'm lazy!)

Re: Choosing a Royal Enfield? Ask here...
I own a CBR250R and a TVS Apache right now. And though both these are serving me really well, I still find something missing in my garage, and that itch to buy a Royal enfield to replace the CBR250R is never fading. So I am looking for the Classic500, my heart is with that classic look and its thump. But fears of not being able to cruise beyond 80 kmph on today's highway and also words about an unstable chassis that would not be very safe to push beyond 110 kmph is bothering me.
I also thought about getting the Conti GT, as the chassis is well sorted, and the tyres, suspension, brakes are all much better than on the Classic, but Conti is not something my heart wants...
Is the Classic 500 good enough to cruise at 90-95 kmph without any vibrations? I cruise between 80 and 100 only, even on my CBR, as I do not trust our highways to push beyond that as a cruising speed...
Existing Classic 500 owners, please let me know your thoughts, and also, looking to understand if I can do any mods to make the C500 cruise smoothly between 80-100 kmph,. I am not bothered about vibes beyond that, as I wont be in that speed region for long.

Re: Choosing a Royal Enfield? Ask here...
I would like to know which one is more fun to ride between Bullet 500 and Classic 500 also between CI and UCEs. I had ridden a Classic 500 earlier and I just fell in love with the intoxicating ride quality of the bike and I decided to buy one but, I find the single seat to be more comfortable so finally zeroed on a Bullet 500 and took a test ride. I was expecting it to provide the same type of ride quality but to my disappointment the ride quality was no way close to the Classic which I rode earlier, both the bikes were used ones. I have also ridden a couple of CI ones and even that was not as fun to ride. So I would like to know whether is it specific to that particular bike or model or is it because its been abused? Please help me decide which RE to go for CL or Bullet, UCE or CI.

ThunderBird 350 or Classic 350 ?
Hi Riders,
I am graduating from pulsar 220, which is a super amazing bike in all aspects.
The only concern is rattling plastic body. Also, I am little bored of it.
Final Shortlisted bike are thinderbird 350 and classic 350. Please help me choose one among them, based on following info:
- Height 5.6 ft
- daily city travel - 100 Kms (approx)
- low maintaince.
- high reliablity.
Thanks,
Kashish.I FLY ON THE WHEELS ON MY Red Eagle .

Re: Choosing a Royal Enfield? Ask here...
Thunderbird is slightly taller than Classic. And seating position is slightly Feet Forward as compared to straight upright in CL.Originally posted by kashish View PostI am confused between classic 350 and thunderbird 350.

CL has many variants to choose from and accessories to fit later on.
Maintenance for both would but one and the same.
Pillion seat in TBTS has lesser room as compared to any RE 2 seat variant.
I have a TBTS 350 and i Use it for a daily travel of 100kms.

whoa hold on right there mate.Originally posted by Ri$hi View PostI would like to know which one is more fun to ride between Bullet 500 and Classic 500 also between CI and UCEs. 1. Which One Is More FUN, CI or UCE - that varies from person to person.
2. You rode CL500 (i am assuming new generation FI version) and fell in love with it. But You Prefer Single seat hence you tried bullet 500!? (i am going to assume STD500 you meant). CL is the only variant that comes with option to make it single seat bike!
STD 500 has a Unibody seat but its definitely still meant for two.
3. Ride quality was no way close to CL500. Thats probably because STD 500 is carb, while CL500s are FI. Hence. So its about the model, and not an issue with the particular bike.
4. You need help whether to go with CI or UCE. Well mate that is completely up to you. Its personal choice.
If you ask me, I would say UCE. For the pure reason of, CI= Used bike no guaranty and UCE = New bike+2 yrs warranty+RSA+easier (not lesser) maintenance than CI.
Well there you have it. Do let us know what choice did you make!

Re: Choosing a Royal Enfield? Ask here...
I was bit inclined towards TB350 because of on board fuel guage, trip meters and massive fuel tank of 20 lts, projector almps. Also, I heard TB350 delivers sligtly better Fuel efficency than Cl350.I FLY ON THE WHEELS ON MY Red Eagle .

Are you looking to buy a New bike? If yes:-Originally posted by Hollowback View PostI'm 5'9 so any of these three shouldn't be a problem to ride right? Classic/bullet/Electra? Or should I get the classic has it has a smaller wheel base?

1. Aftermarket electric start. If you are buying a new bike, you wont need this as all the variants do come with an ES even the STD variant (but only 500cc).
And on an older RE, i am not sure how well an after market ES works with those. The way i see it, the less you fiddle with those older engines the happier they feel.
If you are sure you like STD RE, you can think about 500cc version, you would get the Electric start and the added power and torque! Maintenance would be more or less same on both STD variants. and if your daily run is not too long, then the Fuel Economy wont bother you much with a STD 500.
2. Thunderbird, is the RE with smallest wheelbase not classic.
Hope this throws some light as to answers for the questions you've asked. I am sure you got more questions, feel free to shoot! (the questions i meant
)

The engine and fuel supply type, remains the same in both these bikes, with the only difference (that can affect Fuel Economy) being 5 odd Kgs of weight, TBTS being the heavier one. Hence the Fuel Economy would depend more on riding habits. The only reason (if at all there is) that TBTS user Might Get More FE, would be the Tacho, as you can keep a check on revs at all times then.Originally posted by kashish View PostI was bit inclined towards TB350 because of on board fuel guage, trip meters and massive fuel tank of 20 lts, projector almps. Gadgetry comes handy with TBTS, also the two disc brakes two of the few main reasons why I bought TBTS (when I actually loved the Blue CL350).
The 20 Ltr tank does come in handy but only when you take super long rides.

Well, If you really like the STD 350, its a good choice. I feel its the manliest of all the RE variants (Personal opinion).Originally posted by Hollowback View PostHello guys!
Or shall I say family?
Cause I love this thread.
I've read every page, and now am little upset that they're over.
For me it was like a novel to read and damn it was an interesting one!
After deciding on getting a KTM Duke, gixxer, apache, man it all comes down to only one mean machine! Royal Enfield.
(I know I posted before here too, but I can't help, but be part of it and get myself one Enfield!)
Thanks to this thread the steroid type thinking of "Royal Enfield's are not reliable." Has gone. Sure they might have some issues, but hey which bike doesn't? Just yesterday, my hero maestros speedometer cable got spoilt and the bikes not even a year old!
BTW
I'm 22, lean, weight 60.
(I'm planning to build up muscle now!)
I'm sorry and I say it again I'm sorry!
The dilemma of which Enfield to get is hard to answer.
Even after reading the whole thread, I can't make-up my mind.
Im pretty much sold on the bullet 350 cause
Simple
Seems like a tried and tested bike.
Heavy crank? A lot of people talk about this and some people suggest this since it pulls better.
Electra seems good, but will it look too big on me?
Also my brother told me it has electric start issues?
I'm not a big fan of the classic 350
But I feel since Its smaller compared to both it would suit me better?
I live in mumbai and mostly will be doing city travel.
My concern is in start and go traffic will I miss the electric start? (If I get standard)
How good are aftermarket electric starts?
I know I should rather get the Electra but I will lose out on the heavy crank.
PS. I'm no speed demon, I ride slow.
I'm really sorry guys, I'm still confused can someone help me pick a suitable Enfield for me?
I did do a test ride of all three
I found the classic uncomfortable
I liked the bullet, I could kick start it with ease and the Electra was also good.
Yet I am confused x_x
If you must have an ES, then its better to got for electra, or other model of your liking.
But hey with the STD variant, you can consider upgrading your choice to 500cc then. The company website does say 500cc STD has option for electric start. And being carbed verision, it wont be much of a difference or wont have the maintenance that other 500cc REs need with them being FI. Also you would get higher power head lamps in the 500cc version than the 350cc.Last edited by rugved; 10-04-2016, 01:11 PM.
