  • Re: Choosing a Royal Enfield? Ask here...

    Hi guys,

Good day to you all. After trundling around in 100cc mileage bikes, I have decided to take the plunge and buy an RE. Need some help in choosing the right one for me

I would be using the RE mainly for daily commuting (~60 kms a day) and very very rarely on long trips.
30% of the commute is on average roads filled with bumps and another 30% in heavy traffic.
The primary requirement is comfort (no backaches specifically) in the daily commute.
There are no budget constraints and not really worried about mileage either.
I am well built - 85 kgs and 6 foot tall.

Based on some googling, I have eliminated Thunderbird and 500cc versions since the reviews suggest they are not very suitable for daily commuting. I am confused between the 350 cc versions of Bullet/Electra/Classic.

Which one would suit my requirements? Based on my requirements, is there anything specific I need to look for while going on test ride? Please share your suggestions.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi all ................. I just login and saw this thread ...I'm really confused in buying RE ...first i was worried that bullet is tough to drive and maintain... until last week i got the chance to ride classic 350 and std 500...both are good machine...... i don't know which one to buy... i am a govt employee, i work at night from evening 5 pm to morning 9 am... yes only 3 days duty ..
and only Saturdays and Sunday (Sat & sun off ) i will be taking the bike to city or for long ride ....so which one is suitable for me classic 350 or std 500..... i like 500 better but am confused.. friends told me that 500 is suitable for long ride and i don't ride long unless if there is need..mileage 35 - 40 is ok for me as im not using daily...... please help in choosing

Hii anurag.....lets make it simple. All three are good bikes, but you should make a decision according to what exactly do you want from these machines. Commuting...touring...etc. Let me know...and then lets make the decision.

I will be commuting for about 30-40km in a day. I am not much of a tourer guy

Well if you can handle some extra weight....go for the bull. Its worth it. All the best. So which model from the RE stable are you interested in, do get a look and see the reviews of all the models.

One thing is... heavy or not... A bull is a bull... as in once you know its balance you can literally switch its back, its that good...

Also a bull is a bike that makes a professional out of a novice rider, apart from the classic novelty respect and value. If you own a bull I doubt you'll be saying that you aren't a tourer for too long. That bike will beg you to take her far out.
