Go for Electra... It is reliable. Classic is a good option too. But having lot of small small issues like battery problem, wheel alignment problem etc....

Back with a query today regarding my RE.
All was well and nice until today morning when my bull refused to starts. Brought a mesh who said no current which might be due to different coils. Now the bull is in his hands. Never ever have I left any of my bikes with a mechanic for a like time except engine rebuild.

Yesterday I installed the rear brake light after which the battery immediately started draining. While going to office yesterday tea bull lost life for fwd seconds when I used high beam and came back to life on low beam. This morning when I tried starting it it failed on me. The mechanic has given estimate of 700rs for *@##&* labour which is expensive and 600 for consumables.

Any idea what is wrong and where I stand?

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.

Can't say much but if battery is draining fast (assuming battery is all fine) then check if any wire is making contact with metal body which might drain the battery, basically grounding issue. But I would say again I can't comment much on this

              Hi, I just purchased a Thunderbird 350cc
              AVL engine
              2006 model
              20k kms
              Price-60,000

Now I'm planning on purchasing another Thunderbird 500 for my father. I happened to enquire with the dealer I bought the previous one from yesterday
& it seems he has a Thunderbird Twinspark 500cc that's 1 year old & has run 6000 kms. He's asking 1,52,000 for it. I was wondering if its a good deal??

Please check whether it has been accident free though, then bargain hard & go for it.

Btw, the TB you bought ... I think would have been better if you had searched for a UCE engine , wouldn't have been too over 60k that you paid for a similar 20k on the odo.
Thank you so much for your advice, there are two more things I would like to have your opinion on:
                1. A lower selling price from a dealer or an individual seller usually implies a higer number on the odo, what in your opinion is the ideal trade-off between the two(As far as TB's are concerned)??
                2. I suppose that the insured value of the bike is the price of the brand new vehicle minus the depreciation over time, assuming this is correct, the remaining money is the seller's profit/dealers commission right?? How much is it justifiable for a seller to ask over the insured value of a bike??

Which bike is suitable for old people(age-60) normally Thunderbird/classic?

Will Dealers replace long silencer to short silencer at the time of delivery free of cost/ i should pay extra? Will dealers still having stock of Short Silencer(i.e.,Old Bullet Silencer)? Bcoz short silencer gives good thump than long silencer.
Which is best silencer? (upswept or normal indore straight silencer)?

I heard Is there Oil Leakage Problem in RE models really? Why is it happening? Vibrations also there it seems?

Any other suggestions to buy a new RE model.?

                      Thanks
I asked him to post it here, he seems little hesitant.

                      Kindly help him.

                          Hello biker buddies,
I have a query regarding my first upgrade.Currently i ride a 2010 Pulsar 220 (Streetfighter version) and planning to get a RE.I'm confused whether to go for a RE standard 500 or RE classic 500.Which one is easier to maintain and have lesser issues.
The bike would mostly be used on hills so there is a need of a torquey machine hence considering these two options.Any other valuable suggestions/inputs are welcome.

I think the Bullet 500s are having carb while the Classic 500s are EFI. You may decide between easier repairability & adjustability of carb vis-a-vis EFI...depending on whether you ride more in urban or rural areas. And then of course, the looks...whichever appeals to you.
Yes thats the only difference. My preference is to choose that one which gives more closer feel towards that old charm of bullet.Styling is not an issue for me.

Look no further....get the classic 500....FI is the future...

I have the teal green model....for the past 4 years, apart from the oil change service and other mandatory service....I have had no issues whatsover.....because of FI, the throttle response is super crisp...

And with the option to remove the pillion seat...it gives the retro feel par none....even when its stationary, I still just stand and admire its looks....an absolute vintage piece of art..!!!

If you feel the classic still has problems like its inital lot, trust me when I say RE has resolved everything.

Yes, the classic is more problem free bike now from what it was from initial lots when it was launched.I was glued to the classic 500 thread on tbhp.Small niggles which were highlighted and long term reviews were excellent.
Guess I have to research more regarding Std. 500 before making final conclusion.
