@chicane1879 the mods are pretty heavy.. The only thing stock in the engine is the gearbox
. Camshaft, high performance valve springs, modified bore head & piston are some of the highlights.
Dont wanna miss that look on your face when i blow past you.

Yes the head, piston, bore all belong to the karizma. We've modified it for more performance. The last time we dynoed the bike it was doing 17 odd bhp at the wheel back in 2005 (the mods were port job and compression bump with everything stock) now we're expecting 21-22 bhp at the wheel.Dont wanna miss that look on your face when i blow past you.

It will indeed be more fun to pit the Fiero 165 and the Karizma for fun after the Hyd drag for a speedcheck.
I'm planning on some next level works for the karizma. A set-up which can make it hit 160kmph true. All that we need are time and money.
My another crazy target is making the 165cc Fiero also do the same 160kmph
. I like to play the lower cc game this time.
I read this article on Bike India of a Ninja 250 setting a land speed record of 179kmph and thats the fastest a 250cc bike has gone. How about shattering that some day, and that too with a karizma? Kushath, you better find me one big-shot sponsor for all this. We'll do that with lesser cc.
. I'm serious.
In the current state of performance of the karizma, it can comfortably clock a true 130kmph in 400mtrs. That can translate to 15secs. lets see whats in store this weekend.sigpic

The Karizma can be brought down to 75kgs with all the right works. The bike will need to be re-engineered right from the frame. Such a set-up will be ready in 2-3 months.
But there is nothing that can make it fly and stuff. If you see some really fast 2-strokes move, you probably wont say this. Take the TVS factory shaolin for example. Thats the fastest single cylinder bike in the country. Clocks 12.5secs and exit speed in 400mtrs is 150+. As per V-box results the bike can hit 0-100 in 4.9secs. Now thats called insane.
A karizma being a long stroke motor is not an ideal race bike, but we are pushing it to make it work for us.
Getting 2-stroke beating from a 4-stroke is a different ball game altogether.
Having seen faster bikes, the Karizma or my Fiero for that matter does not entice me much. By my standards, these bikes are still slow. What the hell is 140kmph. We'll talk when we get past 100mph.sigpic

Zma is really fast maan! @Joel.. I need a megaphonic pipe ASAP! Plz...
I wonder how it clocked 140 kmph, that too with Kushanth on board!
@Joel... is there any speed check happening on Wednesday?I have no respect for riders without helmet...
...no matter they are riding or lying on the road!

The engine has enough muscle. So no matter who rides, it will get to its top speeds. He actually ended up hitting the rev limiter in 5th gear. 141kmph is the maxing point of the karizma's stock gearing.Originally posted by TomRider View PostI wonder how it clocked 140 kmph, that too with Kushanth on board!

The speedcheck might happen(if it did) only on thursday early morning. The same evening, we are leaving to Hyd. So the bikes have to be finally prep'd and set-up.sigpic

Was that a typo??
Long time back, there was this Yamaha 135cc 2 stroke which appeared in OD.They claimed it to be fastest race bike in the country and had a top whack of 160km/hr!!

Its no typo. The bike featured in OD, gets killed by this shaolin. It can eat that Group C RX for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks etc.Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostWhat the...

If you have ever seen the Group C race, you'll see how the factory shaolins decimate the RXs.
Now I'm talking about a fully prepared 62kgs Race TVS factory shaolin which is geared to clocked 160kmph in just 400mtrs. It has clocked an all-time high of 155kmph(exit speed at 400mtrs) during one run in mumbai back in 2006 recording 12.6secs.
The only bike which can beat it very very marginally(best time - 12.4secs) is Nisar's RD350 which is ridden by Babban Khan. Well thats on a bike which has 210cc more and twin cylinder. This is a 138cc Single cylinder engine. Thats what you call a master piece.
The claim by OD is BS and baseless. Over a year ago they claimed a group B Gladiator to be clocking 150kmph. Which even an R15 wont do in the race track. These magazine fellows note down all the crap that a tuner boasts. In this case, the hype was too much. They even claimed that RX to do 190kmph (for the given gearing). But the v-box recorded a max of some 145kmph and 0-100 was 6.5secs or so.
I'm talking about a 5 secs drag shaolin. So which is faster?
See get these facts right first,.
A drag bike needs to get its top-speed as quickly as possible in 400mtrs. A drag bike can be peaky as well
A track bike should have power well spread. More than an engine on its limits, it needs a reliable set-up capable of taking abuses lap after lap. More than insane top-speeds, it needs more of mid range power.
A drag bike is a different breed from a track bike. Its task is only to last a little over 400mtrs. So technically, the engine can be really pushed much further.
FYI, this drag shaolin pumps 32bhp from a 138cc air-cooled mill. Thats 231bhp/ltr. Also considering its stock counterpart was very lame at 12bhp, this is terrific.Last edited by Joel; 01-12-2009, 11:16 PM.sigpic

You could take a few inputs on weight reduction from Rajkumar sir, his ZMA was weighing in close to about 90kgs!Originally posted by Joel View PostThe Karizma is the least radical of the three bikes. Looks very close to a stock bike, with all the cycle parts being stock. if only the karizma can also be lightened by atleast some 15-20kgs, it will be a bomb.
Junk the stock alloys, he'd put in the TZ250 alloys, I guess that saved him about 10kgs. Stuff like that!
Btw, are you doing a speed test on Thursday or Wednesday?
Im in if its Wednesday!_________________________
