Are you pointing towards the way how you told about rajmachi saar.

For you, even rajmachi was very ok but bad for me and many others.

                        • Some roadside gyaan:

Was filling up air at a petrol station and asked the guy to fill in 30, 32 instead of the usual 28,30 just to observe the change in handling.

So the guy filling the air hesitates and tells me that the mileage and pick up will drop. I'm like yeah ok and he warns me twice before relenting..

I've done this extra air pressure experiment on my scooty and same as the bike, it only seemed more eager to drop into turns and stuff..

So is there any truth in this sheep-in-wolf's-clothing's warning? ( )

                          • I think that increasing tyre pressure will NOT result in reduced pickup or mileage. It would increase it. It would decrease riding comfort, bike would be more bouncy.

I would like to take this opportunity to give some 'learnt from some other manual' gyaan.

Tyre pressure should always be measured when the tires are cold* never on warm. Thats what the manufacturer intended you to fill.

In case you are unable to check tire pressure when the tyres are cold, the tire pressure should be adequately raised by 2-6 Psi depending on how warm you perceive the tires are.
                              eg.Raise 6 Psi after a 40km of flat out highway run/track session.
Raise 3 Psi after a 12km city ride.

If you do not follow the above guideline and continuously check tire pressure on warm tires, you risk tire overheating and eventual blowout.

                              * - Cold tyres are only when the vehicle is parked for >3 hours OR has been driven <1 mile(1.6 km) after being parked for 3 hours.

P.S.: I guess the above is the reason such a high no. of blowouts are experienced on the Expressway. People check tire pressure right before they enter the e-way and end up with less than optimum tire pressures.
P.P.S.: Conversely, running higher than recommended tire pressure will lead to:
                              1. Bumpy ride
                              2. Increased fuel efficiency
                              3. Reduced rolling friction
                              4. Decreased braking ability (on dry roads)

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
