hello everyone, need to ask you something. I wanted to check the average of my bike, a pulsar 220F.. tuned the bike, kept it on the leaner side..
This is what I did.. I kept riding my bike till all the fuel in the tank was over, (had 1 litre of fuel with me always in my bag while I did this.)
When the fuel tank was finally empty, poured this 1 litre in the tank and set the trip meter to 0.. the reading started from Sayaji hotel in Wakad, kept on riding and riding, took a U turn before Dari pul and again kept riding, the bike dint give any jerks so again headed towards Dehu road, took a U turn and it finally gave me jerks at the end of 55th KM.. took the bike and refuelled it.. does it mean my bike gives me a 55kmpl?
Following is what I did during this 55kms,
I did not not let the bike cross 4k rpm throughout,
Tried not to use the brakes
Rest all the things were normal, say the traffic and the road conditions.. please reply.. I'm more confused than happy and surprised...

I know few people who have got that much. But again, that method wont give you perfect reading.
"Four Wheels move the body. Two wheels move the soul"
So what's the correct one? I've heard 'upto the brim method' does not work..
To get fairly accurate fuel consumption reading of your bike, use tank full to tank full method.
1. Fill fuel till tank is full.
2. Ride normally till it gets in reserve
3. Refill fuel till fuel in tank is again till original mark.
4. Calculate the km rum vs. fuel consumed.
This method helps you in understanding the normal average that your bike is giving you.
Riding below 4k and not touching brakes gives you a much higher average than what you would normally get.

A quick refresher on NV's Topic of discussion -
While I had specifically mentioned that the issue was something else, the debate of whether wearing gear or not seems to be the hot topic on this thread.
Just some noodle bakers, just ask yourself these questions:
Do I wear a helmet even if it is a short ride; let's say, running an errand to the commodity shop?
Do I turn out in the entire gear for "in-city" meets/G2Gs?
Do I treat the road as a road and not as a race track?
On weekend rides, do I rush into blind corners with no regard to the oncoming traffic?
While taking corners, do I really know whether I am veering into the opposite lane?
Do I really treat group rides as a pleasurable ride or is it a top speed setting ride?
On a group ride, do I really follow the leader or make my own rules?
Am I well equipped to handle any emergency on a ride?
If a fellow biker is hurt, do I know what to do? Whom to contact? How to coordinate?
Do I ride carelessly just because I'm a part of xBhp and "we know all" attitude?
Do I have respect for others on the road? Do I let senior citizens, children and handicapped, Mothers with Kids in front cross before I zoom past?
Do i ride to prove a point to others that iam better than you?
I think we are going to have some newbies too.
@ Abhishek parvate this is time for which you were waiting i guess.
Yes Puspal we all are meeting today... hope to see you there.

I agree sir, what I wanted to check was the maximum average it gives me.. I thought my bikes gives me nowhere more than 38 with all the precautions being taken.. but after I got 56 yesterday, I can expect it to take me atleast 48kms in a litre.., because even in my normal driving habits, I tend to keep it below 5k and use minimum brakes..

hmn...I think its much perfect reading than reserve to reserve ... this is the exact maximum mileage which you could get on your bike(you were checking on average ideal condition) BUT you will never get this in a normal ride :P

Yes I agree.. but then I can expect it to be around 45-50, right? Cuz the only thing that changes is more use of brakes in normal driving conditions. I generally ride in the same engine speed range..
I need a pickup and drop from Wakdewadi!!! Please anyone?
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
