Been there done that. He is not present with the group anymore.

On the intro ride I had conducted I literally had to kick people in the shin to find out the guy who was faking under-jeans knee guards. This led to a hold up for over 30 min before the ride could even begin since I arranged for the spare set from Rakshas, who was fast asleep at the time.
    +1
No more intro rides on that route...
Totally agree on that, i have crashed at lavasa... I guess Jakrap too(he has completed CSS)... So no more lavasa for newbies!!!

    • And that is precisely why every time people planned for lavasa mumbai guys always made a mandate and breifed others that no one would follow the likes of sagar and all who know lavasa as the back of thier hand!

        Agree.

Well, not been on a ride with xbhp as such.
        But on gears front.
        - Long rides/Lavasa type short rides
        *Full gear
        - Short rides
*Full gear but a plain jacket instead of a riding jacket should be good.
Gloves and Knee guards should be there, even a crash at 40Kmph can cause you enough harm to keep you off work for few days. Have experienced, hence the suggestion. *dog kill*
        - G2G
Helmets should be good enough, if the location is within city.

I prefer a minimum plain jacket, gloves, hard shoes and helmet within city limits.

        • Well good to see so many discussions on riding gear, I myselves have worked my way up on acquiring riding gears for good 2 years !That was the sole reason I never went on any of the official XBHP rides & for the other rides a leather jacket with elbow guards was used. But finally I got a Nero , A* knee guards & DSG gloves over a period of time. Even during the Sandhan valley ride, one of the fellows riding impulse had come in shorts and tee's & when we denied him of riding there was an argument of experience and on-road-credentials that were boasted off & even after saying so the guy did ride all the way . During this tenure , I learnt some things for sure .

          O.T

We have a long weekend coming ahead ie 23,24,25 march. Any ride plans. I am very interested to ride till chickmaglur and the surroundings if anyone is ready to accompany . Currently Rockerz is the only tentative one in the list.

Plans if decided to go would be .
23 - Leave early morning reach shimoga & visit nearby places en route.(650kms)

24- Shimoga--Lingadhalli--Kemmangundi--KallatgiriFalls--Hebbe Falls--Chickmaglur--belur--halebidu--sakleshpur**--Bisle**(**if schedule permits, ride till bisle ) have rest at Hassan.(350kms)

25- Leave hassan early morning & try to reach pune by midnight.(750kms)

If anyone interested let me know .

          Thanks,
          Pai

P.S I m aware that it would be a bit jammy ride & run feature , I am even comfortable to take a day off on monday
          Into hibernation mode .

Contact me for the following riding gears .

                • We all say mandate helmets, for in city rides. Its a good idea since the crashes which i had experienced made me realized the value of helmet and the riding gears at the cost of fractures.

In fact i am in the favor of using riding gears if possible with knee guards in the city use and g2gs too as we never know which idiot cabbie or biker is gonna give us hell out.

Apart from incubus and satyen i have not seen any other rider using complete guards to commute and meets and rides, including me.

We cant make it a compulsion but i would appreciate that if it stays as a rule.

                  • Saddlesore help

                    Hi,

Not sure if I should be posting this topic here, but here it goes.

I've been planning a saddlesore 1600 for sometime now,but I need some Pune-Banagalore specific info from some of the guys who done this with certification.

I need some info about which route to take, where to turn around and any tips on places(specific fuel stations) where I can get the electronic receipts required by the IBA.

Although the experience of a saddlesore would be enough to make it worth it,but I'd like to get all the documentation right to so that I can get certified.

                    Thanks in advance.

                    • first time peep to Lavasa

Went for a ride to Lavasa last sunday for the first time ..!!
Rather than the place, i liked the road to there very much... Even though its sunny season ,the view throughout the way was very nice .. and the curvy roads with mutiple hair pins was a good track to revive my riding skills !!
(made me remember the ponmudi hill route)
Atlast on our way down after a beautiful sunset we thought of taking a closeup look on the lavasa dam , just then a group of burglers(so called police in mh) came and asked for 2000rs fine for going near dam..after some talks they settled for 500.. ooh i missed our 50rs kerala policemen at that moment .!! thanks to them every enjoyment till then was spoiled !
                      H*R*K

May be slow, but still ahead !!

I remember, back in 2008 I used to just about to ride to Lavasa and occasionally to Mumbai only with a Helmet, Riding Jacket and Riding Gloves and I always thought it should suffice. ( I had knee guards at home )
During the 'Monsoon Exploration Rides' my knee guards were with a friend and I couldn't get it and asked Surojit if I could just come without them inspite of wearing the rest and he bluntly said NO.
I was not sent back. I was NOT allowed and I completely respected that.
