  • Bad crash you had there... get well soon mate..
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

      • falls are the part of game, get well soon Sagar.

Even I escaped a mishap today at Jahangir hosp signal.
I was sitting still on bike adjusting my helmet and waiting for green signal.
One stupid truck wala who was just beside me took an extreme left move atlest 10 sec before green. My handle got struck at the side of truck...I just jumped away from the truck.then the truck stopped and started abusing me...its so pathetic.

Good thing was that the handle was so well struck on the side of truck that my bike didn't even fall :P.

Lesson : never relax even when you are beside a stationery vehicle especially in city traffic.

@inder : NICE SHOT..How to take this kind of pic with multiple exposure??? Which cam?

Hey guys, thanks for your wishes. Am alright and should be as good as new in about 3 weeks or so. The accident happened at my favourite turn on the way to Lavasa during my practice runs between the two chai tapris. Right after the second right hander, there is a long sweeping left hand turn which you can take at full throttle (post the apex) as you can see the entire stretch of road until it turns again to the right.

I usually hit the apex of this turn at a maintenance throttle of around 7.5k and crack it open once I am past the apex. The R15 sends a fair share of power post 8k rpm to the rear and if your bike is leaned into a corner, your rear does tend to slide because of this sudden power surge. To counter this slide I use my dragging knee to steer the rear and pick the bike up. But today was different.

So here's how and why the low side happened. Right before the second right hander, the Lavasa guys have laid this new tar patch which hasn't been leveled properly. This caused my bike to wobble as I was entering the right hander. To arrest the wobble I stood up a bit and by the time I leaned the bike into the left hander, I was not hanging off as much as I usually do. So when I cracked open the throttle after the apex, the rear slid as usual but this time I didn't have enough time to dig my knee into the ground to steer the bike back up and so it just slipped from underneath.

My jacket and knee guards saved me from any major injuries but my poor quality gloves and jeans couldn't prevent my palm and upper thigh from bruises.

So the lesson learnt here is - Invest in a racing suit or pant with thigh and lower back padding.

@satyen- My tyres are new and the lacquer has been evenly worn out.
              Get well soon buddy.

                • Sagar, I don't want to wish you "Get well soon" since it would mean that you are not well as of now. Now you will have to refrain from your thighs getting more bruised by bedtime exercises. ;-)

Keep riding. (No second meaning in this, honest) Be safe.
