Hey mate hope you are fine....You know there's a saying ......Originally posted by SAGARR_46 View PostHey guys, thanks for your wishes. Am alright and should be as good as new in about 3 weeks or so. The accident happened at my favourite turn on the way to Lavasa during my practice runs between the two chai tapris. Right after the second right hander, there is a long sweeping left hand turn which you can take at full throttle (post the apex) as you can see the entire stretch of road until it turns again to the right.
I usually hit the apex of this turn at a maintenance throttle of around 7.5k and crack it open once I am past the apex. The R15 sends a fair share of power post 8k rpm to the rear and if your bike is leaned into a corner, your rear does tend to slide because of this sudden power surge. To counter this slide I use my dragging knee to steer the rear and pick the bike up. But today was different.
So here's how and why the low side happened. Right before the second right hander, the Lavasa guys have laid this new tar patch which hasn't been leveled properly. This caused my bike to wobble as I was entering the right hander. To arrest the wobble I stood up a bit and by the time I leaned the bike into the left hander, I was not hanging off as much as I usually do. So when I cracked open the throttle after the apex, the rear slid as usual but this time I didn't have enough time to dig my knee into the ground to steer the bike back up and so it just slipped from underneath.
My jacket and knee guards saved me from any major injuries but my poor quality gloves and jeans couldn't prevent my palm and upper thigh from bruises.
So the lesson learnt here is - Invest in a racing suit or pant with thigh and lower back padding.
@satyen- My tyres are new and the lacquer has been evenly worn out.
It is not important that how many times you fall...or how much you are hurt....but it is important that how much you have learnt from that fall....
Ride safe buddy and hope to see you with your 15 soon on the road...
@TenHut - Nice pics there....
@Inder - Nice work buddy keep'em coming....

@Sagarr: Alls well that ends well. Happy to hear you back home safe.
@ALL: As we climb the ladder of perfection, our speeds will increase, chances of a fall are greater, so its time to upgrade our RIDING GEAR.
Better prepared than late
No philosophy here
@Hydro, Satyen: Add me to the list. Time to upgrade
@Kashif: Good you too safe man. Take one small advice from me (learnt from my own experiences)
Never stand or even ride behind, beside or near a truck/bus/trailer.
@NV: Keep in practice bro, skills fade if not honed n practised. You anyways know that better than me
