When posting for a ride if you post the road conditions and the nature of the ride ppl may or may not choose to participate for the event..
We have all sorts of riders in our group and you will always end up with a handful of riders chiming in for a ride whatever the nature of the ride..
As vishwas says there are 5 kinds of riders in our fraternity
    1. Rippers, love the quickblast onto the highway. A mad dash on NH4 towards vai, mahabaleshwar is the most sought after activity by these self proclaimed high speed morons.. This kind of riding often is a quest to boasting three digit figures at breakfast tables and nothing more.
    2. Cornering Junkies, may go slow on the straights but will always try to be MotoGP racers in the corners..lavasa and aamby are likend to isle of man and mullholland highway by these riders. Such is the insanity of this bunch. Breakfast talks boil down to sharing knowledge about which corners had oil spills and how you felt on top of yourself this fine morning. The reality is that everyone is shitting their pants and blaming it on the tyre traction and paved/unpaved roads. If you want to have a false sense of being good at riding you have to embrace this category of riders.
    3. Tourers. Question...why would anyone tour ? These guys have insane departure times, the likes of 3 am and they find a ride in summer at 12 noon exciting. There are no breakfast talks here cause there are no breakfasts at all. These riders feed on bugs and flies cruising innocently into their mouths at a mere speed of............................... 80 kmph !! Everytime I have toured on a motorcycle I have felt like a taxi driver.
    4. Off roaders !! Wanna thrash your bike ?? You cannot better an offroader at this. Theres no better way to burn money than thrashing your baby on roads I wouldnt ride a bulldozer on. While the rest of the world is working out ways to increase tyre traction these bunch of riders love it when they have none at all. You also go tumbling down a valley only to be loud enough to ruin a fishermans 3 hour catch ! The world hates you if you are an offroader..ok thats not true but the fishermen sure do.
    5. Confused riders..these riders love the quickblasts on the highway and love offroading too. There are days when they love cornering and touring too. They are confused ! They tend to attend all rides and make their presence and sweaty odours felt at every ride. These guys smell of sweat all the time. They are always returning from some ride.

Rides being suggested will more or less fall under the above 5 categories and whaterver the case be you will always end up with enough riders.

The need of the hour is for people to initiate more rides to a vivid variety of destinations and more bike talks at g2gs. Focusing on how we would have more rides if people were to change their preferences is to miss our true intentions.
P.S We should actually be having a lot of pune mumbai g2gs and connecting to more bikers than having it like a 6 monthly sacred affair.
Please check hyperions signature , I forgot I had changed mine.

I ,for one , do not classify riders based on these preferences. I just know that I need to ride. Be it cornering , touring , highway blasts , off roading . For me riding is just about 'riding' only. The background changes , roads change , traffic density changes, routes change etc etc but I will enjoy everything as long as I am riding a motorcycle.

True that and well put too. I fully agree that inter-city synergy has to increase. we could also look at other satellite cities becoming a part of the axis.

Also I hate to say this but most of the senior guys present were not bothered (they just reacted, "OMG so many gearless riders!") but did nothing or I guess too much is being expected from me.
Even a few senior riders were Gearless, came in a Tee n a Helmet.
Am not taking names, but some even tried to say that its not much important as long as they wear the basic safety gear, i.e, the Helmet.

*I wish we had some responsible members like you, sagar, etc.
Senior members behaving irresponsibly is intolerable. In Pune, members like me and Sagar only set the ball rolling. It was more due to the collective efforts that safety was taken up so seriously. I believe that seniority has nothing to do with leadership. In fact you can take the initiative without waiting for others to act. Start imposing bans on members, stop calling those who frequently turn up without gear, call off rides if you see people in Tees and Helmets, start publishing names online..there are many actions that you can take and be stubborn on them. After all, safety gear DOES MAKE all the difference between coming home alive or in an ambulance.

I have ridden with Mumbai xbhpians quite a few times now but I still don't know most of them. Besides Spidy, Winzee and Dinesh I have hardly had an opportunity to properly interact with other members.

I also agree with NV on his point that biking takes a back seats in most of our Pune g2gs. NV and I have had long chats on this topic before and to be honest this has been one of the main reasons why I am not as regular for the g2gs anymore.

As far as the rides are concerned, I think we should definitely arrange more rides every month but we should leave it up to the members to decide if they want to tag along especially if we are looking at including offroading and touring trips. As tenhut pointed out, our clan has all kinds of riders and they should be given the opportunity and the freedom to do what they want to do, to ride the way they want to ride.

When it comes to safety, I am very very proud of the Pune gang. The safety measures which the senior members have laid down are being religiously and more importantly, willingly, followed by all the members. I have had the misfortune of sending some new joiners back home early morning on the day of the rides. But it was heartening to see how well they took it and were mature enough to understood the purpose behind these safety rules.

I feel for Spidy because I know how hard he tried to implement the safety regulations for the Amby g2g. But when you are planning on riding with such a big group, one person alone cannot take up such a big responsibility. Other members, senior and juniors alike, need to come forward and support guys like Spidy to ensure everyone on the ride is properly kitted. Those who aren't, need to be politely briefed on the safety regulations and why we have them in place before asking them to join us on the next ride.
True, true, true, true, true, true, true...cannot agree with you more. I still remember the way Rishabh reacted when we sent him back...Kudos to him for taking it so positively. Thanks Rishabh.

There have been so many instances where people have turned up gearless waking up all at 5 in the morning and with not many people around they could have made it along with us.
But I have always seen Ritwik and Sagar taking up a very friendly discussion trying to explain them the nuances if they ride with us. And always we have succeeded riding in proper gear to whatever destinations we were scheduled to hit and not allowing members without proper gear.

And I guess this is one thing which sets XBHP (at least Pune XBHP) apart from other innumerable biking groups.

                        hey guys,
i think we should be having some formal introduction of new members physically in our g2gs (maybee once a month). In this way, we can know the new commers and their riding preferances.
by riding Preferences I mean their inclination towards safety/ riding habbits etc etc. also, as most of the new members are not having the riding gear, why not allow them to ride with u ppl for a while ( like a month or so ) so that they can arrange the expences for the riding gear. or atleast suggest them some temporary measures for their safety like thick jackets???? or denim jeans(just for the starters and for 1 month only).

I will narrate my case for the referance.. i am earning nearly 20 grand a month but still due to some unavoidable reasons, i am unable to get the riding jacket and the gloves.. so i have cut back on my (solo) sunday morning rides, ride my bike properly for a better milage( as if i save a lot but still every count matters). i wont claim that i am saving the heavens from falling by doing this but still something is better than nothing.....
I had joined xbhp with the intent of finding more like minded ppl here and I did meet some in the last small g2g on last saturday in motocafe, I was uttery impressed that mg and some other riders turned up in the proper gear even when nobody had even called for the inclusion of gears.. thats waht i was looking for...
even if rules are put, ppl will find a way to skip them as it happened in the last mumbai-pune g2g... unless u make the rider realise that his life is worth more than 5000 bucks riding jacket (and the 2300 bucks helmet), there is no point in making him wear them.. for them it will be worn only when someone asks them to wear it..
I have had my share of idiotic accidents and hence am thankfull to god ( and my reflexes) that i am alive and kicking.. and this is one of the reasons why i strongly support the use of riding gear wherever possible.
I know here a bunch of the readers (or actually just the visitors for this post) will be thinking that THIS @$$#OLE IS TALKING CONTRADICTIONS COS HE HIMSELF DOES NOT OWN ONE... or WHY DOES THIS CARTOON NOT GET ONE FOR HIMSELF AND SHUT THE fCUK UP??? but guys my point is that there is no point in forcing the rules down throat.. instead let the idea trickle down their heads and then u wont need such rules..
I might get some replies that if we do not make strict rules, get the riders wont use the riding gear and we can have some mishaps..
well guys atleast give them some chance..
ask urself, did anyone put the rule for u to wear the gear or was it a self imposed rule???? if none had explained u the importance or if u never saw anyone using and the obvious benifits, would u ever use such a thing???
so rather than imposing the rule right from day one, let the riders realise that they are making a fool of themselves by not using the gear. after a month, u can ask them either to get the gear or ride alone....
one more thought that crossed my mind is why not collect some horrible bike accident pics and create a dedicated thread for the pics of the most horrible bike accidents with the riders riding without the safety gear!!!!!
thats sure to put such ppl in the right dirn before thinking of riding...

pst... I know a couple of my frnds who simply put this as a waste of money but that will be till they have to face the consequences and then realise that we are not fools to use the gear.. till then peaceeeeeeeeee
