Yeah.. had been there (Mum-Solapur-Mum) few days back..! The road specially NH9 is 60-70% bad & rest is smooth.. A small road with potholes, oncoming heavy vehicles.

When are you fulfilling your promise of riding to lavasa ? When ?

Also there was some period of time in between your switch from 250 to 1000, which was on the CBR600, right? Was it much different than speeds that you do on the blade??
I am wondering what I should be writing about 299 in the CBR thread ! Honestly everything that I felt about 299 was felt AFTER the ride when I came back home. But then that is how it is with top speeds or even moderate high speeds. The amount of adrenaline in you doesnt permit you to feel pain nor feel euphoria at that moment. You are just busy focussing on what you are doing. High speeds get addictive really soon because of this one charachteristic of theirs i.e. when doing them you arent really in any state to enjoy them...you are just doing them...then you stop..then the adrenaline reduces...now you know what you had been doing and how awesome that adrenaline felt like and you wanna jump back on the bike and do them speeds again.
But like I said in my earlier post....my brain couldnt compute the rate at which everything was being hurled at it at 299. Anything above 200 and my brain starts crying "overload"
The result ? I didnt know what gear I was in. I didnt know what rpms I was doing and I didnt know how long I was doing 299(not for more than a second is the only thing I can guarantee)

The 600 can never do such speeds in such short distances. Its easier to hit top whacks on the litre because of the availability of power ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE in the rev range. Say you have a stretch on a highway which is free of traffic but only for 10 secs. The litre will definitely hit 250 in 10 secs but the 600 wont. So short 'high speed bursts' are the way to ride the litre when someone talks of ripping a litre. A 600 does good speeds consistently as compared to the litre so it will be flying anytime you see it but it cannot do topwhacks on the highway or in short straight patches as it cant accelerate that fast.
Bottomline : Dont break the momentum and you will be riding fast on the 600 ! On a litre you have to break the momentum and to go fast again you wring that throttle and you are past the 600 again haha !

                  • Guys, I have been riding two wheelers every day since 1987 but mostly I can class myself as a commuter. When I joined xBhp, it was with a great anticipation of learning something new about biking every day. I looked forward to knowing things which I had only read in magazines or dreamt off.

I achieved my long held dream of riding to Khardungla only because of discussions on xBhp and the advice received from seniors.

Now a days, Pune offline thread and G2G meets have become a joke. I propose this thread to be renamed as JOKES thread. Otherwise, it is not serving any purpose other than wasting bandwidth.

Some days back, a serious rider asked NV to explain how an engine works and what the basic components are. He was not at all ashamed asking about this basic knowledge (BTW, I myself know absolutely nothing about engine working). A lot of people showed interest in this information. NV spent his time and energy in preparing a hour long presentation.

However, till date, no one has shown slightest of interest in seeing this presentation. If no one wanted to see it, why did we make NV work towards preparing his presentation?

Surojit and others did a lot of rain rides and South India ride, has anyone asked them about their ride details, plans etc? If you call yourself a biker, isn’t this knowledge worth acquiring? At least be polite enough to listen to their ride tale.

Beruoist is another great addition to Pune group. Has anyone bothered to ask him about his various rides? I don’t think any of us has rode as much as him.

TenHut has been to CSS. How many of you asked him about what they taught at the class and whether he can share information?

Sagar46 participated in racing his year. Does anyone know anything about racing on a track (other than watching it on TV)? Why not ask him about it?

Why don’t we have at least some meaningful discussion about biking? Have you seen that all senior / serious riders are staying away from this thread? Have you observed that all those serious riders form another group for discussions even when they attend a G2G? How many of the regular posters ride regularly?

Now is the time to get serious about biking.

                    • Its gonna be tough for ppl to respond to your post Vishwas. Everyone is guilty !

Roger has time and again insisted that we arrange for a biking related g2g ! Since arranging a g2g according to everyones convinience is an uphill task we have decided to conduct these discussions at lavasa before and after cornering.
These discussions would be more on the lines of how we can better ourselves in corners and gain confidence while riding the twisties. These discussions will not discuss touring per say unless if we are graced by the presence of a heavy duty tourer at Lavasa.
Lines, turn in points, vision, throttle control, shifting body weight, reference points etc would be some of the key things that shall be discussed.
If you wanna know sports riding / cornering you may chose to simply ride to lavasa with us or may choose to join in later in a car/cycle/truck just to attend the discussions if riding to lavasa aint your cup of tea.

hallelujah I hope this is a new beginning to new serious biking along with the advent of the new riding season.

                        +1 sir.

That's one of the reason I avoid attending the G2G's after attending 2 of them. People usually make their own groups and are discussing/gossiping/joking among themselves. This makes a newcomer feel completely out of place. The last G2G, I attended with the intention of hearing NV talk about engines. But since we could not arrange for a screen to display the slides, we just had something to eat and left.

Hence I make it only for rides sometimes

Lets take this as a stepping stone and henceforth improve on our mistakes.

I Propose a G2G this sunday at Aundh , i will find a good place there tomorrow and finalise a venue, suggestions are also welcome.
