  • I have a slightly different view on this…
For somebody who is genuinely trying to learn, the ‘reasons’ to not be able to learn is merely sham…

Its about personal interest… I would rather point a finger on my own ‘slim’ self… Three years ago when I was scanning for information on tweaking my bikes, even I didn’t have a platform. Atleast today I can make out what part goes where and have a better understanding about the bike .. atleast comparable to a road side mech helper. I would like to thank an endless list of people for that… which goes on from right from my bike mechanic to the pros around the scene! So if you want to learn, you have a zillion avenues to learn. …. One of the avenues is the ‘fat’ chunk of information available here, ask relevant questions and you would get relevant answers….

About smaller groups in G2Gs: Its upto the people as well…. As long as there would be more than 4-5 people in the G2Gs, there would still be a small group discussion going on amongst each other. It’s up to an individual to listen to what they want to and be a part of that discussion. DO NOT link that with what Vishwas or Rohan said!
Nobody is trying to alienate anyone… we all have better things to do. There is no harm in being stupid\silent and not contributing to the discussion…. Even the loud mouth me has been stupid\silent in some of the conversations…!

    The point is move on!
Atleast value the experience that others have and are willing to share, I don’t know about the ppt that NV made but seriously a fantastic post about the TVS Chain spray went unnoticed and more weirdly unappreciated… another fantastic insight from Alok about road safety whizzed out… a superb series of touring experience – Leh, Alps, Southern India almost went unnoticed…!

All in all, it upto you to learn…. If you don’t want to.. fine! Don’t blame it on anyone else!!

Like NV said, it’s a dual platform…. Socializing goes along with sharing the rich experience…

Banter is good, healthy to have… just like “Salt” in your pasta/dal/whatever! It cant be the main course… it can only be a flavor!

Is chunao mein mujhe aapka mulyan vote do

    And now please move on!

(NV – PPT … share please)

        • I really wanted to make it to Lavassa this weekend but I will have to go to Mumbai this weekend for some urgent work. And this is not another lame excuse. Got my bike serviced after SIE ride especially for this one but something cropped up yesterday eve and I had been evading this from long time.

But I 'll make sure that I shall soon be a part of that wicked Lavassa Goers!

          • @everyone waiting for Satyen's wall of text: I have a venue suggestion for Classroom g2g. Sus Tedki

I dont know feasibility / past experience with this venue but it was discussed around march (a day be4 sagar's lavasa crash) For a new beginning, we will have a new venue. I guess chaturshringi tekdi could also be a good classroom venue.

P.S.: If you guys want I could arrange for an actual classroom in COEP.. but that would be overkill I guess. And I also need a change of environment when attending a G2G.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Chaturshringi tekdi will not be a good option since Navratra is going on. After Dashera, it is doable.

I wasn't so sure until then..I thought I could skip it again this time. And just yesterday it got confirmed.

I have suggestions for the venue.

1)The SUS Hill near the Highway with the Pune Nagarpalika Board. That could be an ideal venue. Lotsa parking space besides the road with the clear visibility. It is open and windy glacing over NH4.

                    2) Just besides that, there is a small hillock.Trekking some odd little distance up the hill you will find a vast cemented/rocky patch up there. That can also serve as a G2G venue. Its open,it breezy with lotsa trees nearby.

If you opt for this one, adventure lovers will also do a little trek.Nice place.I have been there numerous times. The venue just looks awesome in the eveing overlooking the entire NH4 and nightlight of Hinjewadi and Aundh.

                      - Are you discussing venue for a technical discussion or did you just miss the point?

I think the place where Vishwas narrated his Leh experience is one the BEST places for this...! Mc'D near by to munch something... Decent amount of place to sit and not be disturbed....

NVs motocafe is THE best option from whatever little I have seen of Pune!
You could also do it on the stairs there and little bit of electricity stealing for the laptop from the near by cafe could be worked out I guess

                          • I feel a technical knowledge sharing should be in a space where there are less or no distractions, and i think as all the places where i have attended the G2g moto cafe is a better place to learn, share and discuss our thoughts, i would also request those members who know the technical know how of things to be there in the session instead of creating separate groups and going out, as this will keep the learners and newbies motivated and they can always ask your help in case they dont understand.

I think instead of keeping the session after everyone have their snacks and all we can start the sessions with whoever are present at the given time, we can keep the session limited to 30 -45 minutes so we have enough time to discuss the things.

                            • A lot of good points put up by all seniors (no pun). I think that the best way forward if u wanna lear is through observation and practice and to achieve this, i would suggest going for an activity like what we did in MotoMentors. It was fun, informative and a good learning experience as well. We can obviously have a discussions G2G at some place in the city but i would love to learn while on a ride so that i can apply the gyan immediately instead of just thinking about what i learned. This weekend i'l be riding to Lavasa, mostly on Saturday to beat the rush, and will put this view of mine into practice. Hope some of you tag along to teach me and also, learn from me if u like.

                              Ciao.

Are you talking about the place we stood in front of Forteleza. That place is good only if the shops are shut.If we plan in the evening, there are showrooms which will not allow us to stand there in such a big group. That day when Vishwas narrated his story, it was already 10.30pm by the time it began and we assembled there.

The venue I suggested is not just specifically for an Technical G2G but could be for any G2G if just in case we search for new venue. My idea was " Why not do it on a open place?"

About MotoCafe,it is fine...but then think from other perspective too. There are other shops in the mall and we might obstruct the way to it.Big groups are always bound to attract attention. Moreover, we should also make sure that (Nikhil Vaidya ) aka Nikhil Sood's regular cafe business is not disrupted .

                                Those were my suggestion.
All,Please come up with better ideas for the G2G venue.
