                • Guys, I'm Ahmedabad based xBhpian and involved in Traffic awareness and Education via an initiative called ATCC(Ahmedabad Traffic Consultative Committee).

There is a similar initiative in Mumbai as well headed by a renowned Advocate Armin Wandriwala. The organization / group is called SOOR, Sanity On Our Roads. There are looking to organize some sorts of road activities and are looking for members who can help them implement and teach Traffic awareness and road safety to the general public at large.

If anyone of you is interested in a bit of social work you can get in touch with them on their Facebook page, just search for SOOR and hopefully you will get there.

                  • The Satara Ride

Its that time of the year when a certain Kaas plateau overlooking Satara turns into flowery bed with billions of flowers blooming simultaneously and creating a picturesque landscape which lasts only couple of days. Just to give you a glimpse of it :-

Much better pictures are available online once you google for "kaas".

Along with this natural colorful bouquet, Satara also has to offer two of India's tallest waterfalls :-
                    • Vajrai Waterfall - 1,840 ft (560 m) - 27 km (17 mi) from Satara District near Kas flower valley, India’s most highest waterfall.
                    • Thoseghar Waterfalls - 1,150 ft (350 m) - 36 km (22 mi) from Satara, A full frontal view of the falls can be obtained by going to Chalkewadi and then walking down the road for 5 km (3.1 mi)

Source : List of waterfalls in India - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

                    Thoseghar Waterfall

And if this was not enough Satara also has to offer some man made wonders - The windmill power farms. Satara district is Maharashtra's leading producer of wind power. These giant wind mills are a sight to behold. Their sheer structure dwarfs everything besides them. For instance check out the truck next to the wind mill below :-

The above pic was clicked by me last year during my trek to Kalyangadh, Satara.

                    Bike Ride to Satara

Such is the beauty of this city that it mesmerizes everyone who witnesses it. Hence I am planning a short ride to re-visit these natural and man-made wonders. Below is the tentative plan for the same

                    Dates :- 29th and 30th September, 2012 (last weekend)
29th :- Leave for Satara early in the morning. Its around 350km ride. Visit Thoseghar waterfall and Wind farms before ending the day at Sajjangadh. Spend night at Sajjangadh. As the doors of this well preserved fort close after sunset we have to manage our time accordingly.
30th :- Explore Sajjangadh early in the morning. Leave for Kaas plateau. Rap up the visit by noon and leave for Mumbai.

                    GMap Route :-
                    https://maps.google.co.in/maps/ms?ms...191731,4.22699

It would be better if we are accompanied by a car so as to keep our luggage as we leave our steeds parked (which is far away in case of kaas and sajjangadh) while visiting these spots.

Alternatively we can change our accommodation venue to Satara City and dump our luggage in the hotel rooms before we venture out for sightseeing. The plan is open for review.

                    Confirmed Riders :-
                    1. Rony - CBR250R

We need to register in advance to arrange for permits as it seems is the rule from Aug 2012 after Kaas being declared World Heritage Sight. So please confirm on or before 24th Sept, 2012
                    PS :- http://www.kas.ind.in/

Sharing few pics from my last year visit so as to give you a little glance into what Satara has to offer :-

Back view from atop Sajjangadh - The huge Urmodi dam

                    Just before Kaas plateau.

                      • LS2 Helmets at Babloo Motors

                        Hi Guys,

It's just off the thread topic but since it is pertaining to Mumbai, I also thought of putting it here:

I visited Babloo Motors in Vashi, Navi Mumbai today and found that he has quoted the price as:
                        1. LS2 FF 350/351 - 2,930 INR
                        2. LS2 FF 358 - 3,650 INR
I just feel as if it's a little over priced. Still can you people confirm and let me know your views on the same, so as to ensure, for how many bucks can the bargain be made? The other dealers in Mumbai at least are quoting the same at what price?

                            • Additional Info - Need Help!

I called S9 Helmets (Goregaon) this morning and he said that the:
                              1. LS2 Pumping Model (FF358) will cost about 3,200 INR and
                              2. LS2 Non- Pumping Models (FF 350/351) will cost around 2,600 INR.

Way better than Babloo Motors, who was quoting @ 3650 INR and 2930 INR respectively.

I also enquired regarding the same at Only Helmets (Mulund) and he quoted the prices of the:
                              1. LS2 Pumping Model (FF358) will cost about 3,200 INR (after discount from MRP of 3,500 INR) and
                              2. LS2 Non- Pumping Models (FF 350/351) will cost around 2,500 - 2,600 INR (after discount from MRP of 3,000 INR).

So which one is a much better and trustworthy dealer and store? Both of them are better than the previously mentioned Babloo Motors. Any preferences of choices that you people wish to suggest???
