Well I went there a night before the actual ride. I stayed at a friend's place and then we rode to Lavasa the next morning. Lavasa is around 35-40 Kms from Chandni Chowk, Pune. So approximately 3 hours to reach Pune from here and then another 35-40 mins to reach Lavasa. To avoid heat and traffic try reaching there as early in the morning as possible.

        Ride safe!

              • A fantastic proactive post on pune thread by icemang-- if members here are of the same mind than please contribute:

My impression of the G2G is an event where enthusiasts who share a common love of bikes and biking come together to chit-chat about bikes in particular and Life in general. They agree to meet at a predetermined venue which is compatible with the majority of attendees.

About the tech discussion. At times, some member brings up a tech issue about some subject and everybody chips in with his views so as to add to the knowledge bank of all those present. All this is done most informally. At other times, members discuss everything under the Sun (unfortunately, The Best Sexual Position was not discussed when I attended the meets, though) including career choices for their kids. There is no fixed agenda for the G2G, it just goes with the flow, so to say.

                About the dinner

Now, I tend to agree both schools of thought here. There should be a forum-related discussion at each and every g2G so that the formal nature of the meeting, under the aegis of Xbhp is maintained (we are, after all, having a formal Pune Xbhp Chapter meeting). On the other hand, there should be informal gup-shup too so that the mood is relaxed and friendly without becoming too pedagogical and pedantic.

I have a small suggestion here. We could think of having a formal structure to the meet as given below. This is normally the format followed at such events. The timings are given as examples and can be varied by attendees most freely.

                (a) Recap of the last meeting, any feedback from members about any pending issues of the last meeting.

                (b) Formal farewell to members posted out of the Pune Chapter. A few words about these members by the Secy or by their close friends to wish them safe riding in the days ahead. A small speech by each member about her/his experiences in the chapter.

                (c) Formal welcome to new members A brief intro speech by each member to acquaint himself to the chapter. All attendees toast the new members with available beverages (alcoholic/non-alcoholic/dairy etc as per choice and availability) and assure her/him of support whilst reminding her/him about safe riding.

                (d) Discussion on any tech issue either pre-decided on the thread in the past week/fortnight/month or introduced by any member on the spot. Presentations, documents etc to be exchanged/shared at this time. Guest speakers to speak during this slot.

                (e) Discussion/analysis of rides Talk about those done in the past week and planning for the ones in the week/fortnight/month ahead. Responsibilities of members towards these proposed rides done now. Info exchange about accommodation/routes/road conditions/contacts/special features etc etc.

                (f) Discussion on any FORUM-related issue to which any member wishes to draw the attention of the chapter.

Some work will need to be done if this format is to succeed. A Secretary of the chapter would need to be appointed/ any member to volunteer for the job, for every meeting who would have the following duties:

                - Schedule each meeting at a time and place most compatible with the majority of members.

                - Bring the meeting to order

                - Do a head count of attendees

                - Moderate the discussions to keep the meeting within decent timings.

                - Maintain minutes of the meeting and publish them online after the meet.

One important suggested ground rule is that there should be absolutely NO non-forum talk after the meeting is called to order by the Secy and till the closure of the meeting. This will maintain the dignity of the event. Members can raise merry Hell after the meeting is closed but during the meeting, all must endeavour to be dead- serious about the discussion at hand.
Please do post your views as freely as possible. It is OUR Pune chapter and it is we who will make it or break it.

We should also implement the following according to me:

1)A general uniform should be decided for G2Gs in addition to gear mandate so that we feel of one brotherhood & everyone knows that each one in that particular uniform has come for the same purpose. This also eliminates the vain ness of many people who try to show off with their clothes.

2)A badge or a label should be made for presiding secretary so that people understand that he is the secretary of that G2G or we appoint a general secretary,a treasurer, president etc for periods ranging from six months to one year

3)A bell or a whistle should be kept on hand to admonish anyone who goes out of line during the meeting in progress.I see a lot of people engaging in personal conversations which should not be a deterrent to the overall decorum of the forum

4)New badges or labels should be designed for ranking so that the discipline can be maintained -- this can be based on no. of criteria such as activeness on forum,no.of posts, ability to take initiative, leadership quality,no. of years in biking -- these can be of different colors & stripes if needed so that positions of members are well defined

5)All tech discussions should have an expert (pre decided) and an assistant for demonstrating with the help of drawings, talks & presentations to the people present the finer aspects of that particular topic

6)All the minutes of meeting must be noted in prescribed format only & than circulated vide email or PM or any other means since such vital information may get lost in the pages of the offline thread or have a sticky thread made for the same

7)a recorder of sorts to be made available to capture such events so that issues which arise later can be sorted out by referring to these footages

                8)

                9)

please feel free to add more points as deemed necessary by you such as to make this chapter a strong disciplined upholder of bikeism-------

                • Yes DK SIR has got an awesome idea. Let the inputs start coming.
With due permission SIR, I suggest the following:
We can hire small auditoriums or classrooms for the G2G's for better discipline and avoiding formation of smaller groups who discuss among themselves. This way the tech head can dispense his immense knowledge easily ensuring everyone gets it.

                  3 Gold Stripes = President
                  2 Gold Stripes = Secretary
                  1 Gold Stripe = Treasurer

2 Silver Stripes = Tech Discussion head for that specific G2G
1 Silver Stripe = Assistant to the Tech Discussion head

Pink Stripe for Newbies who have spent 6 months or less

                    Also ,
1)There shud be a ceremony the minutest details of which should be worked out & told to everyone beforehand in which whenever a rank is advanced the ceremony should be held for those members.
They can than be awarded higher rank badges or labels.

2)A salute to the person with higher rank.

                    • Vow.. This is so awesome that the g2g is finally adhering to some 'process'. I assure, following this process will certainly get us a CMMi level 3 certification soon. Weekly meetings & noting down the MOMs is a fantastic idea. Hierarchy of management & employees concept is so delightful. Finally we are following some discipline like our workplace in our biking brotherhood as well..
I am loving that even leaving from my office, I will be attending another office with all the process implementation.
                      AMazing Idea DK..

@all we love weekly g2g but to tell you the truth, recently because of some members it is now shifted to monthly meet, I mean ugach ha move kela ahe. We are trying to get back to weekly thing, if you all believe that it should be kept weekly with the above Icemang mentioned approach do it, get is systemised. Chuck those members who are against it, they will someway come in your way, ignore. But trust me meeting all my biker buddies every week is a different feeling, for that fact nothing comes between such g2g's, parents know that I come late and they don't prepare the dinner for me too... All this for the biker revving friends in my life, yet some people manage to screw it up.
