@ EG - What's the attraction of the YMCA? - just curious. I'm game with any place provided they have clean rooms and a proper crapper.

@ Zaphod - If ur referring to the Taj Gardens place, they don't serve drinks but you can pick up something from outside. In any case, other than the both of us, the rest are 'thayir-sadams'!

Weekend to Yelagiri

Can we start to Yelagiri around noon so that we would reach by the evening sometime? Any suggestion?

The reason is that, say if we start Saturday afternoon and reach Yelagiri around evening and we will have time till next day noon, thus calculated for one day.

Can we start to Yelagiri around noon so that we would reach by the evening sometime? Any suggestion?

I'm game if it gets Ananth on board. In any case, even if you leave Sat morning, you will not make it before lunch, and check in/out is 12 noon. Only hassle is we will be riding both ways in the hot afternoon which is a bummer.

On the other hand if we leave around 0600 Sat, we will be in Vellore for breakfast and Yelagiri for lunch. If we want, we can leave Yelagiri after a leisurely breakfast even around 1000 on Sunday - the ride will definitely be more pleasant in the mornings. - Parts of Zaphod can testify to this!

@ Rajesh - sorry bro, forgot about you!

@ Sri - there is this newbie called 'Motonisar' who's registered for the Munnar ride. Where is he? PM him? Also, 'ElectricGoat' is supposed to join us from Vellore. And who is PadmanabanK? He's also registered for the Munnar ride. I don't know him - think he is a newbie. Shouldn't we get in touch with him too?

+1 for this. I feel an early morning start will be necessary to escape the heat. I am ok with starting late too.

Anyway, regarding the accommodations, Taj Gardens is full. King's Park next.

I think it would be more fun to stay at YMCA. The place also will be decent.

Sunny is right. Leaving in the morning is better. Starting in the afternoon we will get exhausted by the time we reach Yelagiris. Breakfast in vellore is good idea. Ill join you guys there.

Rooms have been booked at YMCA. Have asked them to block about 4 rooms for the weekend.

Prices are 650/- + 10% Tax. Food not inclusive.
