@ The newbies wanting to get gear - it all depends on your budget. Senthil has provided you with the websites, so all you need to do is get cracking.

The best local helmets I have seen are AGV's and LS2's (2500/- onwards), though more expensive options are also available. You can check with Senthil if you opt for higher priced helmets.

Oh, and if you don't like to stink up your helmets with sweat, then purchasing some liners would help too - though most riders don't use them cause they don't look cool.

As for as helmets are concerned, we have more options in India.

1). Rjays - Starts around Rs.4000 (Not a well known international brand)

2). Sparx - Well known budget brand (Should start around Rs.6000/-)

3). KBC - Well known brand (Should start around Rs.7000/-)

4). AGV(Original) - Very well known brand (Range Starts from Rs.7600/-)

Sparx & KBC are available in Performance Racing store. AGV & Rjays are available in Bachoo Motors.

Dileep, i'll take an educated guess that Size-M should fit your head snugly (AGV sizing). Different brands have slightly different sizing charts.

I bought an LS2 5 months back. It's a good helmet, pretty heavy though.
I wanted the clear visor, they didn't have stock of it.

I'll give my suggestions based on your budget.

Helmet - 4k (LS2/Rjays)
Jacket - 4k ( Cramster/DSG Mesh jacket - Pretty good ones; DSG range starts from Rs.5500)
gloves - 2k(max) (Again DSG gloves - DSG Primal Gloves Rs.2700/-)
Knee and elbow pads - 1.5k (if required) - (Cramster Knee pad Rs.1800/- options are limited)

You can also look into Cramster Gloves, though i don't have much information about them.

P.S. nice pics from the pondy ride. I drove down on monday to Pondy, relaxed 60kmph drive for the first time and took in all the scenery that i missed in all my previous drives (used to be triple digit speed dashes to pondy and back).
