  • Nice ride !!!

Had an awesome ride with Sriram and Aravinth. Good thing was we saw sun light for hardly 2 hours. Cool climate through out the ride. Pics to follow soon. I was smiling inside my helmet seeing the climate out side , not sure if Sriram and Aravinth did the same ?

      • Ride to Jawadhu Hills near Vellore/Vaniyambadi
        Round trip:- 470kms in all.
        Route:-
Onwards:- ECR, Odaiyur Lake, Cheyyar, Vandavasi, Sethupet, Polur, Jamanamarathur.
Return:- Jamanamarathur, Alangayam, Vellore, Kanchipuram, Chennai.

I thank god for a lovely day (Sat) that the entire trip go without weather complain. The roads were good and excellent and with few patches of bad roads. Weather change that day made the ghat roads very special. Less traffic, greens everywhere, village scenery etc.

At Jamanamarathur - It is only a town at plateau. So we guys pull over from the main road just before the town, found some path towards the sides of the road and chilled out under the tree. Some pics attached.

Return - Jamanamarathur, Alangayam, Vellore, Kanchipuram, Chennai.

                  Route Map

It was Jafar's pics and route details which made Sriram to vouch for the ride. It was just Sriram and Ananth who were up for the ride and later joined by Aravinth. I was not sure due to few personal commitments in the weekend and thus didn't showed any interest on the forum or in my own mind. Later that evening, my wife informed that she is working on weekend because of some extra work loaded to them and that means I was free for whole Saturday . Informed her about my trip and said Yes to sriram to join them .

Me and Aravinth met at Cafe Coffee Day at 4:40 AM so that we can reach the sholinganalur by 5 AM and we were there on time. Our fearless leader got some last minute work at office and thus started bit late . This gave both of us to have some Hot tea and enjoy the cool Saturday morning. Sriram arrived around 5:30 AM and informed us that Ananth is not coming. We started by taking the ECR. Took a Right from ECR towards Cheyyar. Road condition suddenly went down it was simple 2 lane road with few patch work here and there. Later we were hit by a bad patch of road for almost 300 mts. After that road was butter smooth and almost NIL traffic and thus doing a good average speed of 70+ Km/h.

We were on State highway 115 and interected the NH 45 at Acharapokam. Roads were good and not straight at any point and thus didn't bore us at all.
Climate was doing the favour and cool breeze through the helmet vents were making me so happy .

We crossed Vandavasi and Chetput after few route clarification from local and reached Polur at around 9:10 AM. Stopped for a breakfast at one of the decent looking shop and gobbled few idlies, Poories and Vadas.

                  Cost of Breakfast for 3 - 45 Bucks !!!

Started the journey again by 9:40 AM and it was non stop riding till we reach the hills. One of the Hairpin Bends gave amazing view to the open hills and deep valleys - perfect for a photoshoot. Few photos were taken and we hit those twisties again.

Roads were good and narrow and thus it was keeping us busy every second. Only vehicles were on coming bikes with Minimum 3 to 4 people on board.

We reached Jamanamarathur at around 10:45 AM and entered the town. It was buzzling with people and we were not sure what to do next. Sriram suggested that we can go back the road and go off road to find the resting place. We did exactly the same and found a big tree to park the bikes and park ourself.

Took rest for close to an hour with photoshoots, snack munching and chat. Sriram dozzed off and me and Aravinth chatted till 12 noon.

Climate was brilliant and till time we couldn't see any sunlight. There were hills which were covered in Mist in distance which were very tempting but we were short of time.

Started from the place at 12 noon and came back to the Jamanamarathur town and took road to Vaniyambadi.

Travelled a good distance and then found a route towards Vellore even before we reached Vaniyambadi. Roads were great and minimum traffic and thus it was a bliss riding down to Vellore.

We crossed vellore around 2:10 PM and took a much needed break. Sun came out with some hot climate which didn't stayed long enough, in 30 mins were riding again in okay okay climate. Reached Sriperumbudur at around 3:30 PM and stopped for another break for tea.

From there Sriram said good bye and took the Poonamallee route. me and Aravinth took madurvoyal bypass towards tamabaram to home. Reached home at arond 4:50 PM.

                  PS :
                  1. Couldn't believe that climate stayed with us whole time we rode - were feeling very lucky.
                  2. My bike gave milage of 53 km/h which amazed me after I calculated the fuel consumption - Grin !!!
