On a different note, has anyone noticed the engine getting extremely hot upon usage of "Power" fuel?? :|
My engine's getting extremely hot after i filled in with 8lts of Power, i still have like 4 lts left in the tank. The worst part is, radiator fan also doesn't kick in, but the gearbox, exhaust setup and everything else heat up like shit! I wouldn't mind the engine and silencer heating normally, but the gearbox??? Doesn't this mean the engine got hot enough for the heat to trickle down to the gearbox inspite of the engine oil present inside?? And if this is the case.. why didn't the fan kick in?? :|

The gearbox never got so hot before even after a 100kms trip..but it gets extremely hot even after a 10kms trip now.

bro i have been using xtra premium(at times speed, the petrol guy said both are same) since i laid my butt on the bike!!! so its not the petrol must be the coolant ...or even else

Check if you have enough Collant in the reservior by removing the right side panel. If the collant level is low then obviously the engine goes super HOT, followed by GEAR Box.

watch out!

If my memory is rite I remember reading somewhere in the manul to check the coolant level once every 1000kms.
Yes, that is a possibility, esp since a lot of new r15s have come with less than adequate coolants, have heard so from many people here. I checked mine sometime back, there was indeed very little coolant there, almost on the level of 'low'. I have since replaced the coolant. Though in my case, after replacing the desired amount, the temperature of the gear box and the engine hasnt shown any change. So, I guessed that its normal, but its hot nonetheless.
To replace the reservoir coolant, just remove the left middle fairing, the one marked 'Deltabox'

I will shift to normal fuel this time. The gear box and the engine are hot to the point that you can only touch it for couple of seconds.
I first used XtraPremium when the bike was new..and had no troubles. I then switched back to normal fuel for some reasons..and continued so without any problems uptil recently. In the meanwhile i had to use a litre or 2 petrol of from an untrusted source because of no choice...and thought that the untrusted fuel might have screwed my engine. So, went for 500Rs of "Power" because it's supposed to have some detergent bases that'll clean the fuel system and engine of carbon deposits and sludge,etc..That's when the heating issue started.

I got my second servicing done recently..and we topped the coolant reservoir, maybe a week back or so. Didn't even do 500kms since the top-up..so didn't check it, will do it tomorrow anyways.

Even I've used Xtrapremium previously..and had no troubles. This's my first experience with "Power"..and i'm facing this heat issue. I know high octane fuels increase heat levels..but to this extent?? That's my question...and even if it's okay for the engine to heat this much because of higher octane, what's the liquid cooling system doing?? Even the radiator fan doesn't turn on!

buddy, my bike is running on 'Power' branded petrol since day1 and i have never faced any heating problem. As others have suggested, see the coolant level.

Yesterday went to a temple on hill (1.5km hill road). Wen reached temple i found coolant leaking and several green stripes on stay, engine and stand coz of it. Took to nearby YSS and after chking they said coolant flowing tube is loose so the leakage happened.

Unhappy

Went to dealer with anger coz of two things
1. last week wen i asked to clean my chain, they tightened the chain to the maximum. after riding 1km, noise was coming frm the engine side. I left the bike for 1/2 day in ss, at the end of the day they answered that they cant find anything wrong so asked me to bring tomorrow. I took to my mechanic and he scolded me for riding with that much of tension and he corrected.

2. Wen i took my bike wen it reached 3k kms they told me service is only on 4k kms. Asked several times but the same answer. at that time i didnt chkd d the manual coz of their solid answer. But today chkd and it was mentioned 3k kms.

I argued, and told them coz of poor service am gonna take to nearby city YSS for servicing. then they promised me that bike will be srviced carefully. And all issues (front fairing vibration, back disc noise, alloy) wil be taken care of. So gonna ss for service on Saturday.

I've just checked the coolant level, and it's well above "low" level.. so it shouldn't be the coolant problem i guess
Any more ideas??
