Anyways now that the 1st servicing is done, Im taking it upto 7k rpm everyday. Wow the bike is deceptively quick, the engine is more audible & ocmbined with the handling it is a real treat. VFM buy for sure. Waiting patiently to complete 3k after which Ill open it out beyond 7k.
Actually you don't need to wait till 3K, engines get run in within the first 500 km. itself, but sustained high RPM operation is advised for a longer time, as new engines tend to get overheated very quickly.
I would say do it gradually. Don't rev each gear upto 7K RPM though. Though I stuck to <4K RPM for the 1st 1000kms., I used to take her to 7K RPM (100kmph) every day after that, upto 2K km. After that hell broke loose!
Gear shift always takes place at 3.5-4K RPM in city, 5-6K RPM on highways, though I do ride her roughly once in a while to check for unusual noises. Tappets will eventually become loose(mine became at around 5K)&manual recommends adjusting valve clearance at 6K kms. service.

If it is the cone set you should get the sound when you go over undulations on the road - speed breakers, pot holes etc.... it it is a faint and rhythmic tac tac sound when accelerating then check your tappets.

ah, welcome to the club.

I was not against the oil. I didn't try it myself yet and was comparing it with nothing. Neil has just finished his first service and over that these costly synthetics would still need to be replaced at every service to stick to warranty purpose.

I am surprised that the Power1 Racing lasts only 2.5 - 3K KMs that too in the R15!!!

@darkknight: sure but it is really of no use if your bike has done <5k Kms.

Which is why I advised him to go for the Yamalube semi-synth, inspite of the cost factor. It need not be changed at every service, atleast thats what was said to me.
Waiting to see the the condition of the Yamalube semi-synth oil on the 5th service in a couple of weeks time. Don't ask me why I didn't check it on my own-you know I don't wanna damage that oil cap accessory for Rs.700 which got damaged by them once&I was given a free replacement. It can be opened only with a ring paana which I don't have. Will wait for them to remove it&if they damage it, its once again their headache!

do you feel like the bike has no petrol in it? try giving in the throttle slowly.if this happens it is the spark plug..it gives a tup tup sound....

EDIT: Chennai guys, have you got your Road tax certificate from your dealer?

When i asked them, they said that they don't provide it now a days. its just mentioned in the RC.
Got my babe from Ambal motors.
